I think the main reason that those people are "not trying", is 1) because it is low elo, so people have not build pvp mon's or they are newer players, or 2) because until rank 10, it doesn't matter if you win or lose in terms of ranking up, and if you lost a lot before you hit rank 10, you will be queued against worse opponents
Came here to say that, my daughter just started and is and the same rank everyone sucks, using all they have
And also, it’s really late in the season… more “traditional” PVP players are far from these low rankings…

The only time low ranked matches really get serious is when a new season rolls in and everyone's rank resets. It's only when you get around level that things really start to get heated.

I have two accounts and I played lower ranks having less season left and I was not even put against bots x) People on rank 5 start using meta pokemons for me lol

Quagsire is actually an extremely good Pokemon in the great league, ranking twelfth as a shadow and twenty-second as a non shadow. It helped me get to rank 20.

I think why there were bots. What I think is that newer people to the game want to battle but they don’t have high cap Pokémon so they go with the smallest rank

It’s cuz if u throw games early when u rank up to GBL niantic will pair you with trash players so you’ll win more and gain better rewards easier

I always throw games every time we don't have to win a battle for research. It's not a part of the game that I will ever enjoy. More power to those who like it and continue to get better at it. I just don't have the patience to learn.
Funny thing is though that most people who were in that tournament used the same team of Pokémon because the PvP isn't nearly as deep as people think it is

hey mystic, its just 14 days for the season to end,mid ladder would be swarmed by bots or casual players who are just there for a stardust grab. It doesnt really get serious till around rank 18 by this time of the season. Its the early season when the ranks reset when lower levels have higher contention . (i had an ocd attack when i saw u level up the bad iv noctowl to battle please dont do that again :") )
At that low of a rank, literally one meta pokemon can sweep a whole team.

It’s just that in this point of the season towards the end most semi dedicated PvP trainers have reached either ace or expert or even legend depending on skill and RNG and if we’re being honest…the Algorithm

all the good PVP players play the first week or so that a new season starts, after that its people who aren't as dedicated or haven't done all the meta research stuff to have the great teams
huh. i had the exact opposite happen to me. i started playing a month and a half ago, and all of my opponents were real people and are actually trying to win with decent teams and i'm just rank 11 lol

Brooo don’t starpiece before you even do the battles. Just wasting time on the starpiece. Do battles, pop starpiece if you won enough, claim rewards. You can then get a another whole set in on the same piece :)

I was skeptical of the bot accusations at first but I kinda think he's right... Might be since it's late in the season the low ranks just have next to no player base. Either that or there are a bunch of children going with the auto-selected teams all the time. As someone who plays pvp a decent amount, the higher elo range does have a good amount of players
The auto-selected teams don't give you Pokemon so far below 1500, and it would be odd for people looking to throw the game to always scroll down to the 1100 CP Pokemon rather than either being lazy and just starting with what they offer or scrolling down to the 14 cps. I think they really must be bots.

I play pokemongo myself, didn't know they actually competed in it. We sure have come far. Screw flying cars when we have this.
Im level 20 and people tryhard so badly its sad if i get too high and im about to rank up i will purposely quit so i lose points, the reason is because you have a chance of getting the current 5 star raid boss if u get 3 wins so far in the past 2 months i got 3 articunos 1 moltres and a regileki currently trying to get xerneas and yveltal
my first time playing GBL I win 35 in a row. That is close to the end of the season and I did not even know the type effectiveness and only have my 1st pokemon with two charged moves. The only thing I did was have set my first pokemon with a super fast charge move as a bite.
When the next season starts I lose about 20 in my first 25 matches.....
I almost play full set everyday, when I do not real have time I will just use my level 1 team to quickly finish the set and collect the stardust. When their is good stardust bonus I will play seriously try to get the 5 wins for the best stardust. When the rewards are not good, then the you want to tank the ranking.
The most interesting play is one time I use my 10cp team against another ~10cp team and we played seriously...
from my discovery's they use bots up until you hit 2 star rank and then they use actual players
