Accepting an honor for his artistic contributions to music from the British Royals does not negate his Irish nationality. Quite the opposite, since he's of Scottish descent as most are in Northern Ireland. Van Morrison has always steered clear of politics in his music career, and for that alone he should be honored on both sides of the Irish Sea.
