Here’s a fun fact. There’s only 2 1X2 (tall, not wide) paintings in minecraft. Now that we have full control over what size paintings we get, this feels like a glaring oversight. More paintings for different sizes are sorely needed.

It’s crazy to me to think about how consistently I’ve been watching this channel for over a decade. You’ve really done a good job adapting your content and growing with your audience, especially with some of the topics discussed within the newer Let’s Play episodes

I think they should add the floatato with just a couple tweaks: make them instantly breakable and have them go right into your inventory once destroyed (easy cleanup!). Also the crafting recipe could be like 4 wind charges surrounding a phantom membrane to get like 4 at a time!
To balance the flotato and not making the scaffolding useless, I think it should only stack to 16, so you can't have as many of them in your inventory at the same time.
Definitely the phantom membrane detail. Make it useful!

In the end documentary produced by Mojang a couple of days ago, they referenced the end city ship and how it "looks like it should be moving". I think that the update is testing new generation for the end update and the flotater is a test for the end ship moving.
The people working on minecraft need to focus on the end dimension
I would love the floatater to be in vanilla, and have moveable structures. Would be great for boat or plane builds

I think that what mojang will do is put it on an end ship to make it move so that the elytra is harder to get.

In the mod "Quark" adds a "cloud in a bottle", that acts like the flotato, it places a cloud that disappears after 3 seconds. That is a great way of balancing it and I love the fact that it solves two problems, placing scaffolding on air and bridging, all this without leaving random blocks behind

I think "why not" content is what makes games really good.
Take skyrim, that has so many bugs glitches and exploits That playing with them is basically an entire game experience on its own somewhat separate from the main game
But skyrim has a core game experience based on quests that often require to explore or ask around which often means the jank can sometimes liven up the otherwise fairly repetitive experiences. Jank experiences DO belong in minecraft, but I'd imagine mojang would want those to come from emerging properties instead of directly from a feature.
It's what made Minecraft popular in the first place, the fact that it was a developer playground that we could be a part of
1:21 "because we can cut all the corners we want to, quality be damned" lol, there's way more cut corners in real updates than in april fools. april fools even runs smoother because they fixed a lot of cut corners that would otherwise take 5 updates.
Your point about Recency Bias is absolutely correct. People tolerate a lot of unbelievably broken and terrible aspects about Minecraft, and will fight tooth and nail to keep them the way they are, simply because they’re used to them.

6:40 this block has been in every modpack for a long time now. Years and years ago, Extra Utilities came out and included the Angel Block, which is literally the same as the floatato.

I hope it's not end update, developers even said that the end is supposed to be empty, also I really don't want new music in the end (which they will do if they update the end, so it will be ruined because music in the end is all by C418, and it's my favorite part about that dimension) and also if they add too much to the end, and make it look like for example like it is in Minecraft Dungeons, then it will feel too different and that's not so good, so hopefully they will add new dimension instead :)

Activating floaters or floater-like structures on the sky ships to get them running would be really cool.
I am glad you still enjoy the game even after all this time and are one of few people who are vocal about being excited about new content while everyone else is trying to push this nostalgia movement that could be easily remedied with a resourcepack and datapack instead of just turning back the clock on the entire game and missing out on so much content as a result.

Imagine if Mojang made Phantoms explode upon impact, like a flying Creeper. The outrage would be monumental. Yet everyone just accepts the Creeper exploding, simply because they’re used to it.

As much as I love phantoms, that wouldn't be an amazing feature because at least with the creeper when you run away it stops hissing. So you can hit it in-between runs. With that you wouldn't get anything beneficial from it besides an explosion in your face and no membrane.
I think the creeper’s gameplay value is also overstated. If I were designing Minecraft I’d make them spawn only underground, or in the Nether, because I find them to be nothing more than a tedious nuisance on the overworld surface, and I believe they wind up limiting gameplay. @@KyleBruhVloski

@EmperorPenguin1217 the real reason fireflies were removed is 100% because of performance issues. To add incredibly small mobs that would likely harm performance would be a nightmare to optimize, and just having particle effects would be clunky and would give the player just about no agency in the placement of them. Therefore, they were likely slashed for those reasons but Mojang had the idea of playing it off as a choice on the basis of environmental friendliness for brand image. Unfortunately it backfired for them, and now people think the removal was solely for that reason
@@fetch7312 They could've just said that it was performance issues, since they've done that before. Hell the fireflies don't even have to actually be mobs they could just be particle effects like with spore blossoms or basalt deltas. Perhaps have the pitcher plants that the sniffers make could cause them to gather around
ITS THE END!!! 😃 Something that a lot of people don't recognize is that The End is very much centered around space and Air! Consider, The Elytra, Shulker Projectile effects, End Ships, and The height that the End cities reach. Add in the Breazes and it all makes sense!

yea, while it makes sense that the breeze is a rare, structure exclusive mob, it feels out of place for it to be exclusive for Trial Chambers, most of the other structure mobs are either protecting something valuble (piglin brute, shulker and Gaurdians, or drop something value, wither skels and blazes) but those all fit with the enviroment

In a hypothetical Sky Update, the Floatato could easily just be taken in its current form and renamed to "Cloud Block"
I definitely agree that an end update makes more sense than a whole new sky dimension. The end already is a dimension of floating islands, it’s just space themed instead of heaven themed. We know for a fact the original idea of a sky dimension was eventually developed into the end. Another sky dimension could easily feel redundant and why do all that when they could just add to the sky dimension they already have
Hey Toycat! wanted to say thanks for the quality content! your one of my favorite content creators and you inspire me to do more in Minecraft than the basic endgame and to actually set goals for myself.
I always had the idea of an end update being a thing where after the ender dragon is killed, the end is turned into a lush bright place full of sky islands. Now, unless this serves some other lore significance, I believe the name of the achievement for killing the dragon 'Free the end' makes a lot of sense for an update like this. I think if Mojang actually was using this as a way to test an upcoming update, it would definitely be an end update.
Since the April fools update is mostly reused code, it’s possible that features such as the grappling hook might have already been somewhat developed and could be a potential future feature. Just a theory though, a game Theo-

It seems to me that the float would be ideal for ships in the cities of End. This is a wonderful means of transportation, from one end point to another. We haven't had a large vehicle in the game yet and this added a new unique mechanic. Typically, either the player travels on legs or on entities. This would be the first large mobile transport.
Yesh, but at the same time, people clearly want floatators and grappling hooks, as well as an end update, and tbh, the customer is always right, so they should add em in fr.

Oh no something is OP in my singleplayer sandbox game! Whatever are we going to do? The only time OP things are an issue is when they entirely negate other aspects of the game. I do not see how the floater does that seeing how flying machines aren't an intentional and balanced means of moving blocks through the air.
Minecraft is not just singleplayer. Do you ever even think about people who don't play the game in exactly the same way as you do?

I disagree with recency bias over the phantom. Creepers are somewhat easy to predict as they only appear in dark areas and linger around for a short period in the morning. A phantom is unpredictable because you havent slept which is in a lot of cases unavoidable and now you have a creature thats hard to kill because its flying and its actively tracking you so its almost inescapable. Id much rather deal with a creeper than a phantom
Phantoms have tons of countermeasures and conditions against them, and their ai is extremely exploitable and you can hear them coming unlike creepers, not to mention creepers are way more destructive

We need to get from april fools snapshots, and make them into "freaky friday snapshots", or a monthly snapshot with just the "random bs go" update, That just has random things and people can go "oh wow wowie this is cool stuffs yes".

I like the idea of them just giving a list of experimental snapshot features for us to play very early builds of, and vote on _that_ instead of the mob vote.
Make a Bedrock Preview version with those features locked behind a toggle, and everybody would have access to it.

Not sure what you mean by the Floatato needing balancing; but if your worry is that it would let you bridge large gaps/escape mobs too easily, Pull an equalizer on it:
-An expensive & aetherial (entities clip through it) "building" floatato that acts more like a tool than a block, there would be no point carrying more than one of it.
-A cheap & disposable "parkour" floatato. Although I say cheap, it would still be expensive enough to consider dirt bridges and just fighting the mobs.
You would still have to balance the latter's price, but now you can do things like making it self-break after a split second without dropping as an item.
Out of all of them the floater block is needed so much. With a limit like 25 its perfect for small builds 50 if you can upgrade it for larger builds.
P.s. phantoms suck just for existing. Maybe i dont want to sleep every 3 days.
I've been wanting a grappling hook in the official Minecraft for sooooooo long now! But also: seeing you put up all those new, potato-related paintings made me realize how much I'd love to see even those just get added to the game

I think the fact that the April Fools snapshots are so stable given their development time is a testament to how much work Mojang has put into reducing tech depth. They made a gourmet meal then crushed some corn flakes on top for one day. Kinda works in some instances and for some people, but if you keep adding ridiculous half-baked sides the entire meal starts falling apart.

You can spawnproof your home so no creepers get there ever again, but you _have_ to sleep to avoid phantoms above ground. If you had to build lamps and manually turn them on every night, we'd hate creepers a lot more.
Kinda unrelated but a special lamp/block to repel phantoms in a decently sized area could be really cool. Like you could phantom proof your base.

I guess the floatato equivalent could be just as difficult to get as a sponge, which means you use it in small quantities (maybe specifically as a building utility, unless you get a lot for some sky parkour).

My stance is
Kingbdogz is the original creator of the Aether Mod.
He was also responsible for a lot of the Deep Dark, Ancient city, warden etc.
Including the HUGE portal.
I've said this alot and I will say it again.
I think Kingbdogz wants to make the Aether mod he made an ACTUAL feature,
Or something similar.
What better pride and joy for him than to add his own mod to the base game.

My opinion on the floatato is that it could be a way to test in Java the block-placing there is in Bedrock in bridging, for parity

I think the biggest problem with the Potato dimension is that Mojang haters now have a new grenade to lob. Saying that if Mojang spent less time on making joke updates and more time on actual updates, the things folks have been asking for would actually be in the game by now. Then point to the most recent joke snapshot as Exhibit P(otato).
Honestly if not a sky update I'd love a general transport update. The hook, flying machines, changes and additions to minecarts and boats.
If true, this would be a really cool way to tease/hint at an update.
Floatato would be nice, just make it stack to 16 and give it gravity after being walked on, makes it viable for building but not op for parkour/exploring, think of sand with a pressure plate

Maybe have the floatato act like ice walker blocks that decay over time to prevent cluttering. In turn, have such a block be craftable with easy to obtain resources.
I guess everything in every april fools that's not technical is permanently deconfirmed. RIP to the people who liked some of these ideas

Build esthetic mainly, however you get boosted cook speeds without the need to fuel it. Balanced by only cooking 4 at a time and they despawn if your not around or have a collection system.built in
@@JohnnyOps Not needing fuel wouldn’t really justify it since basically every fuel source is easily renewable, having three cooking methods makes the frying table unnecessary

Unless they do what some mods do and make a sky islands biome that is physically above the overworld
Though they would need to impliment cubic chunks to all platforms
a way to make the floatato less op is have it be like the big dripleaves and give it a time for how long it can be stood on or a limit maybe it can only we walked on like 3 or 4 times then it breaks

A sky update would be cool but i’d like to see a new dimension be release with the portal in the deep dark cities like imagine a shadow realm that bares similarities to stranger things “upside down” or something similar would be insanely cool

To answer why people prefer the creeper over the phantom: you can avoid them most of the time, and when they appear they are pretty straight forward to deal with. Also they give gunpowder. Phantoms could be cool if they had a set biome to appear and didn't feel like a punishment for playing through the night.
Yeah, creepers aren't annoying to fight. They're annoying when you lose.
Phantoms are annoying just to fight since they stay far away from you, they're small, and only get close for long enough to take 1-2 hits. They exist to make the game worse by encouraging you to sleep and avoid the main challenge the game has, and you get pretty much nothing useful by killing them.
I liked the size-changing potions in one of the April Fool's update. Doubt it's gonna be something worth demanding for.

i think the flotater should be a tool meant for map creation, like the structure and barrier blocks are, instead of being a normal survival or creative menu feature
This is not to test the world generation for an end update, it is using the already existing floating islands preset with some custom dimension tools that have been around since the infinite dimensions April fools update, and most of the features look like they were made with commands for a CTM map in 2016 or are just being reused from other parts of the game or retextured. The only thing that could really be in testing is the flotater, but I doubt it.

The best way to nerf the flotater would be to make it only be able to move a specific block, eg slime so you would have to build the infrastructure before other blocks making it less op. Also giving it a limit such as 5x5 blocks per flotater would be great
You need to make shorts of cuts of things you say, because a short suggesting switching the mob vote to a dev build of the game would go viral

So aether? Or at least a proper floating islands biome or end update the aether is the keast likely of the 3 options in my mind.
I think a good way to get the voting issue out of the way is to make some sort of implementation snapshot or experimental toggle of whatever would be voted on and then track how much it is used and interacted with by players and just add whatever is most popular that way.

the Floatato is a pre-existing MOD item. In the original MOD It's called an "Angel Block".
Knowing how Mojang is (not to mention MSoft) about adding a mod item to the base game, I wouldn't dare hope for it to become a vanilla item....

@Kelyori yeah but as it has been done to the 99% bug-free point for java so wouldn't it be a waste of resources to re-start the coding of it when it is a simple task to find the code with YEARS of bug-fixing already behind it... ? toycat is the most reliable console minecrafter. always has been. a real legend. I respect his commitment to the game.
There is not going to be a sky dimension until all dimensions are currently satisfied to the development team
Things I want to come to minecraft from the potato update:
Green wood: I want a wood of every color, this is a step to that
Potato Brick and Poisonous Potato Brick: The texture looks like a terraria jungle temple. Its great, just dont make it out of potatos.
Grapple Hook: Need I say more
Flotater: make it work like pistons, just slower and smoother, and it should fit in. Block limit per ship should be 12, just like a piston, and require fuel.

this conversation has likely been had countless times on this channel alone, but another factor about the negativity towards the phantom is that it continually forces an action in prevention of its appearance. The creeper is mostly a matter of pure reaction with the only real counter being spawn proofing, which applies to most mobs anyways. It can be frustrating to have a mob that looms over your experience.
Basically one's design produces a mild setback for not paying attention to surroundings, the other annoys you if you didn't do what you're supposed to do.
