      Also it has gotten so ugly. I think social media is really destroying democracy thanks to Facebook and the spread of disinformation. Zuckerberg has a lot to answer for.

    I am Japanese and born in Japan but raised up in Houston, Texas in my childhood. In this 2008 election, I was 12 years old.
    As a Japanese, this election taught me how great the democracy of USA was and how respectful american people were towards war-veteran John McCain.Also, I am impressed by decency of two candidates.
    12 years later, I currently live in Japan.
    Regardless of your political position and result of next week election, USA will continue to be my second home country and I will continue to respect the American people.
    I love USA. God bless you.

    This time felt like a completely different era despite it only being 12 years ago. Everything was less fast paced, less charged up with anger, hate and division, and there was a general felt sense of unity between people despite differing political opinions. Now, its just hate, division, violence, propaganda. We're on the precipice of the degradation of general human morality. Everyone feels so disconnected from reality. I feel like this country is crumbling away

      Tea Party, which led to Trump, but this was 50 years in the making, from '64 with Goldwater to the Reaganites taking over in '80 then the Contract with America in '94, the, to the 2000s with the "Family Values and National Defense" coalition of W, after '08 the GOP was determined that losses like that would never happen again

    As a 10 year old boy at the time I fondly remember this as a momentous and ground-breaking chapter in the political history of the USA. A well deserved victory for President Obama that evening in his hometown Illinois, Chicago back in November 2008. Barack Obama In my opinion was one of the most diplomatic, humble and reliable leaders of our time during his eight year stint in the Oval Office. Also, Massive respect to the late John McCain for being graceful in defeat. God rest his beautiful soul. #POTUS44

    Obama is one of the greatest politicians in history, the amount of charisma that guy had was insane. He walked on that stage so suave and he had a crowd only comparable to a U2 stadium concert. Such an incredible time for American politics. Not to mention McCain’s class and dignity, such an honorable man. Now enthusiasm has been replaced with hatred and dignity is replaced by cynicism. I hope our nation arises from this time and finds a new sense of national identity, one that is less divided.

    I voted for Someone who wasn’t associated with Bush, and can help the economy because that was necessary for me and young candidate that could relate to young first time voters of 2008 like myself, in college at the time...see it wasn’t just because of Race.

I voted our president who will do a great job; I'm so greatfull to our beloved nation how they voted Nov 4,2008 which was awasome night I'll will never forget that we finaly have in the White House an intellectual man well done!!
