I will never forget spending my whole summer vacation playing MoP. No worries in life just having fun in a game. I miss it
People say this expansion made Blizz look like a joke but what it really did was reveal how many Edgelords played WoW that can't live with not being taken seriously and can't look past the surface of something. MoP had arguably the most memorable and well written story of any expansion. With themes of our inate tendency towards Violence, the morality of even a just war and Jungian psychology. But because it had it pandaren everyone talks as if it ruined WoW

Yes it was cliche and the black prince story line was ham fisted and goofy at times but it worked because while the main story was for the most part serious the side stories and characters where light hearted and silly like Chen Stormstout. Unfortunately because of the negative backlash to MoP WoWs writing has taken a reddit style "heh Nothin personal kid" turn. For an example of this Just look at any legion Dialogue where Illidan is involved.

Pandaria was the only expansion I experienced day one (also got to play the beta) with the crazy amount of folks in the leveling zone, respawn rates being crazy to account for this, and it just being absolute FPS nightmare with how many people were on screen and how many spells were going off at any given time. Pandaria introduced several things that to me made the game fun again after cataclysm, the farm, the personal rep with characters, the challenge mode thing you could only run once a week where you tried to make it to the end with all the treasure chest, etc. Also it having a new main hub with porta since cataclym focused so much on the revamp of the cities that the major cities became the space to be again was refreshing
I loved exploring pandaria. First on foot and later on the back of my trusty Jade serpent. The way our heroes were a curiosity to the townsfolk both in our appearance and our actions. And how it hid many of its more serious themes beneath a light hearted and often silly approach to things.
Garrosh’s initial rotation against Taran Zhu: Battle Shout (gotta have that extra attack power), charge (Gots ta get that rage!), colossus smash, mortal strike... just wish that chain grip was a real thing for warriors 😂
You really see the evolution in quality in these cutscenes, just look at Garrosh here 8:00 and here 20:00

I have so much nastolgia for this expansion, i was leading a guild, teaching people to PvP and conquering other guilds in WPvP, I didn't know how much fun I was having. Ugh and now im 29 lol.

The figthing should have some impact on the story, the faction wars are fun and, in my opinion, quite enjoyable, the issue that they allways turn out the same way, aliance and horde joining up to beat some great evil.
Its just lazy, and I honestly wish that manage to create a proper war somewhere in the future.
@@mankn9098 what else are they supposed to do? they can't realy have one faction win since it would screw over about half of the player base XD
@@Falk0209 They should have had the aliance commit similar actions to those of the Horde, instead of destroying the Undercity they could, for example, made the aliance start a genocide on the undead, most of them hate the undead anyways so it would have made sense, or maybe start a proper frontline that moved depending on player actions, they have options but they always go down the same boring path.

Exploring pandaria was truly like a fantasy, shrouded in mystery and lore, just like the ancient empires of the world.
I miss varian and garosh. I don’t even care about lore consistency and if they are brought back I just don’t care how many people get mad. I just love seeing varian and garosh placed into different scenarios in the wow events. I actually felt like I served when I fought under varian or garosh. But now I just feel like the faction leaders are just nothing to be proud of. I remember having arguments with friends who is more badass since both leaders were the most metal leaders ever. Sylvanas is basically a goth or emo Anduin is a goody two shoes , and the thing they both have in common is when they cry FOR THE ALLIANCE or FOR THE HORDE , i just don’t feel any power behind those characters saying it. Ok I can at least feel a bit of power from sylvanas since at least she’s got some accomplishments but anduin is just like a bad actor who randomly walked in on the throne.
I enjoyed this expansion more than expected. The worldspace was unique and a good little break from the rest of azeroth! But nothing will beat lich king in my eyes!

What ppl dont get about why this polarized, the theme of Mop is not for everybody. They went into detail for friends of asian lore and martial arts and ninjas and samurai and tao and mysticism and pandaren lore ofc! Also despite whatever everyone might think, Chen Stormstout is an essential and much loved lore character and ppl were craving to know about him and his folks after everything u find of him is chens empty keg in the barrens bfore Mop. If u someone who walks past a TV will Kill Bill or Yip Man or fucken Drunken Master of 1978 running and not stopping for at least 10 minutes despite having watched it 1k times this might not exactly b cut out to b your fav xpac. Raids were decent as always cant talk around that. Imagine, back when BLizzard actually delivered decent Lore despite maybe not pleasing everyone with what they doing! Underwaterzone same, keep seeing ppl write that they didnt have a problem with it cause u were getting a way to move faster underwater soon. WoD great raids but too few and u were giving them shitstorms so they cdnt get together more great content instead of giving them time and letting it slip like when ur favourite pizza place burns ur pizzas edges after the 1000th pizza. Like mind me, I was always looking forward to the now happening theme, fullon old gods the most but I wont play it as it is now and this is because uve shown as a playerbase in the past that u cant acknowledge thinking outside the box actually, takes two to tango , ofc Activision as a company now cant do shit like that anymore because it backfired in the past so they doing basic formulas who work. Put off the rose goggles, MC was scrambed together and was hard because ppl were bs only! Vanilla was basic af, but they did and allowed thinking outside the box.! So please, blame them but blame yourselfes aw! A lot of u who claimed to be loyal fans were alrdy giving them bs whenever something wasnt going exactly your way , when they were actually still doing good stuff! R.I.P. Blizzard.

@lady galadriel I can't agree. They missed out on MoP and if they were a PVPer that was pretty much the best expansion. WoD was okay for PVP but the classes didn't feel the same because of the losses of all the abilities and the lack of content. After that it has been pretty shitty though.

I remember watching this when they first announced MoP ... my first thought was really ? Pandas ? Lol
The Horton Show I know right? But the expansion mainly focused on war and old gods and mythical beings. Like they played this expansion down before release quite a bit. They didn’t even have to put so much panda stuff in the trailers.
I like how people are fine with shamanistic cows but draw the line at chinese styled pandas.

I pressed this and most of it are cutscenes, NOT CINEMATICS
"in chronological order"..? yet you put leaving the turtle (6:10) before taking care of the alliance ship lodged in the side of it (6:45). also the alliance got to pandaria first, but you put the horde cinematic before theirs. Garrosh says it himself in the cinematic... i'd say that's a solid fail right there.

Umm no? The lore of this expansion is the main building block for the overall lore of the game. The troll and mogu empires are very fun to read about in the overall context. The old god of this expansion is one of the most important old gods to the lore which helps it be more coherent. We get more clues to the titans in that expansion like ra den. I honestly do not know what you were thinking when you wrote that comment but take this as you want.
