  • This video will show you a simple way to id the pins of a flyback using a multimeter and two 9 volt batteries.
    Please note that the best way is to look at the flyback's datasheet, but if you do not have the part number, or the datasheet is not available, this method can help (however not all flybacks can be tested with this procedure).

    Nice hack with the batteries at 2:25 to find the ground pin. Worth the whole video. See how little current the diodes in the secondary need to conduct. A meter with an input impedance of 10 megohms measuring 10 VDC has only 1 microamp following into it.

    Really great video but the only thing that is missing is that you don't need to check for pars of pins, you can have a high resistance between pins that are not close together. You also should isolate the pins with hot glue or oil before using it. Some flybacks are a little different and require connections between some pins. If your flyback is not working, solder a wire to all pins that are not being used, put them close together and watch which ones that arcs. Those that arc should be connected together.

How many volts should be on the output of this CFL circuit. I have one smaller flyback and one of primary pins are clearly visible, can I tray every other pin with it. I already find a ground on both flybacks. I will try option with winding a primary and feedback, and what is better solution in your sight , CFL circuit, or "winding" option.If i try a "winding" option I suppose that can use the transistors which have been in TV with that flyback.Thats D1651 9M1 and 2N 6253 or have to use TIP 35c like you said. By the way I can by TIP 35 without C, but that is expensive to me.I also have Bu 208, S 2530 A (4 A) and 2N 3055. Thanks.

    • @ludicscience
      @ludicscience  Před 8 lety

      +Milan Brkic CFL circuit should give somo 600 volts. You can add a 10 k resistor to the CFL output and check if there is a voltage.
      I prefer the winding option, but you can not use the TV transistor. That transistor is designed to work with the internal coils that need 100+ volts. The 2N3055 can work in place of the tip35c (if it is a real one, the 3055 is the most counterfeited electronic component)

    To test ground pin can't we simply test the continuety of red wire and other pins?

      SPIAR
      The resistance of secondary is very high
      Then continuity will show nothing

      There's a high voltage diode built in, it needs about 30v to start conducting

    Whats the feedback coil?

      You get a signal on the feedback coil when the big hv coil turns off.

    "The primary of our flyback will be that pair that has a value of resistance close to 1Ω."
    Can you explain the reasoning behind that to me? Why not 0Ω?

    That's exactly how I found the HV secondary ground wire....except I used a power supply.

      Ludic Science So it won't work for other multi pinned transformers? I found a random one the other day and I want to figure out the pin layout...

    • @ludicscience
      @ludicscience  Před 9 lety

      Soham Gumaste I dont think it works for normal transformers since they have a wide range of resistance values in their coils.
