An impressively well-produced, edited & engaging show. Congratulations. I'm a poorly travelled birder compared to most of my peers visiting few places outside Europe; USA/Canada, Australia - Queensland, stopovers in HK & Singapore and, just before the Covid lockdown, Japan). The latter had four of my Holy Grail birds - Red-crowned Crane, any albatross (we had 3 species), Blakiston's Owl & Steller's Eagle (amazing bird!). So your task, should you chose to accept it, is to get Mark Brazil on talking about Hokkaido - it has the best winter birding on this planet!

Thank you for watching and for your feedback John. As Chris says “I’d bite your arm off” to get to Japan. And a super-thank you for sending your challenge. Our producer, Camilla, and the guys will check Mark out for sure. The dream is to be able to move the studio to various parts of the world to cover local people and patches like Top Gear-but for birders. Japan would be a pretty epic place to do that. Cheers!

@@TheBirdersShow - That's great. I'd also suggest as a good interviewee my old birding pal Phil Gregory (Sicklebill Safaris & previously of Cassowary House, author of PNG FG & Birds of Paradise & Bowerbirds book). I'd also suggest several guys who could ramble on about Tarifa/Cadiz Province - Simon Tonkin (Inglorious Bustards), Peter Jones, etc. PS - just took the plunge & changed from 8x to 10x; the Swaro NLs are ludicrously expensive BUT have same FoV as my old 8x Zeiss.

Thanks for commenting John, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Plenty more coming up! Your Japan trip sounds like an absolute dream: albatross (any albatross!) is also a dream bird of mine, along with the eagle. How incredible that you can see all of those species in one place. I'm ever so slightly jealous. And we will absolutely try to get Mark Brazil on the show.

I am a guy who fled Sweden to live in Peru for the last 22 years because I hate cold weather. Yet, I have been to Japan four years in a row I spite of the snow and the cold, and I just love those Steller's Eagles you saw in my video from this year, and like you John, I just got out before COVID hit. I am sad not to be able to repeat our yearly tour in 2021 because Japan will remain closed to foreign visitors throughout the season. Come 2022, and I shall run our 5-day tour again. Meanwhile, studying Japanese with Duolingo and Pimsleur.

Without a doubt, a great contribution for all those passionate about birds, excellent video. And especially when experts speak of my Bolivia as a wonderful destination for bird watching, due to the large number of unique habitats that the country presents. I am particularly a staunch supporter of the new species of Tanager being named Apolo Tanager, in recognition of what this town in Bolivia has, also the residence of Palkachupa Cotinga. Congratulations for this great space, to Chris and particularly to Diego, whom I had the pleasure of meeting in the U.S. just when, together with Sebastian Herzog, the Bolivian Bird Guide began to be written. Hey Andrew! I would say that the best start would be to look into the possibility of leading some bird walks in your local area, or even set up your own. Or contact your local bird organization and investigate the possibilities of you doing some guiding. Most guides start locally then gradually start leading regional tours, then maybe internationally.
