Bob Wulff from the Bob Wulff channel finally back on CZcams?????
This is great. Love going for more of an old school look but also a fan of the idea of limiting yourself a bit in terms of what you take with you. Sometimes too much gear makes getting the shot harder, and having one camera with one fixed focal length removes the hurdle and can lead to more fun and creative photography
Every selfie I take is vintage #wulffdendad
Love it. I'm fortunate to have a Fuji x100v (from before the TikTok hype thank God) but it was never necessary to shoot the style you were looking for. I'm a big fan of your other channels content but seeing this more candid side of ol' Bob and exploring other things like cameras is definitely fun to watch.
You always have a very reasonable approach to things so whether it's small emulator handhelds, gaming, etc it's fun to hear your thoughts on other things you enjoy, like cameras and the sort.
You’re the reason I impulse-bought a Japanese Game Boy camera a few years back. Retro photography is a great hobby, albeit an expensive one at times. But I applaud your logic and reasoning behind the equipment you’re using. There are dynamics and character that you’ll get out of that setup that you wouldn’t get out of newer equipment. Also, for street photography, the less attention you draw to yourself and your gear, the better. So - wise choices all around.
This was a cool video. I miss the days of having a portable camera that wasn't just ties to your phone and the novelty behind that. The fact that the camera kinda gives a soft and vintage look to the photo is cool. Just goes to show some pieces of tech still have a use now.
My first camera was the model before this, the Sony Nex-5. I've logged thousands of photos on it, but haven't broken it out in a while. I've been in a similar spot of wanting a film-y digital camera, but the Fuji being way to expensive. This convinced me to try a new lense and filter on the Nex-5.
I need more Bob camera content.
I'm happy to see the photography side of you come out, Bob! I look forward to more! 😊
Yaaaasssss Bhaaab! Love the photo/personal channel!
Hey come back
pls do colab
Did not know you had a camera channel! Awesome! 📸
I didn't know this channel existed. I like your videos and love camera stuff so this is an awesome discovery (if you wanna call it that) Love this
Wow, thanks for sharing this little introspection in to your life! Honestly I'm thrilled to see you exploring photography like this - I don't watch your streams (I don't watch /any/ streams!) and don't know if you've ever talked about photography elsewhere, but I'm very happy to see you taking such a simple approach to it, particularly with such an affordable piece of hardware. That's apparently been a growing 'fad' lately - turning back to old digital point n shoot cameras specifically for the lofi vibes they give, on top of how accessible they are.
Looking forward to seeing more of your photography! I mostly use Twitter, so I personally would be inclined to prefer sharing there, but I'd be happy to follow along if you share on Instagram, or even CZcams, if you're looking to share your shots!
This is the content I've been waiting for. Hell, yes.
Love this setup! I'm a big micro four thirds user because of how portable they are and the fact you can get Leica lenses for them without breaking the bank. I use pro mist filters as well, helps light to fill the image more and reduce contrast which I prefer.
3:02 H3 Podcast showing up in bob's recommended is hilarious. Yesterday's episode was EPIC with "Zach" and no explanation about wtf was going.
Going on vacation coming up and this inspires me to dig out one of my old point-and-shoot cameras to take along. I jumped on the "my phone is my camera" bandwagon as soon as the picture quality caught up enough, but I do miss having something with 1) a wrist strap, for taking those shots where if you drop your phone its gone forever down a cliff or something, and 2) the ability to just be ready the second I turn it on, no lag, no lock screen, etc. Thanks for the vid, Bob.
Great to have a new video here!
Cool to see ya getting into street and candid, been doing photowalks in nyc for abit, its a great hobby for casual exploring
I've been shooting with an all-in-one half-frame film camera lately. Removing all of the technical options, and limiting your creativity to framing and subject has been really fun and rewarding. Might have to try an older digital camera if film gets too expensive for me.
Dude, I legit received my Sony NEX-C3 two days ago, and then you drop this video!!!!! This definitely put me into some good feels…that was the first “real” camera that I had the joy of using back in 2014, and been in love with (amateur) photography since! I’ve been comparing it to my α7C, and yes the quality isn’t much of a match, but there’s a certain charm with shooting straight out of my NEX-C3 that I would have to edit down on the α7C…it’s just not the same. The C3 is definitely my new “fun” camera for sure!!
havent watched, leaving a comment for the algorithm cause this channel need more videos bob damn it!
I recently go the lomography apparat since I wanted that warmth and grain to my shots, but its a film camera and Ive never used a film camera besides a disposable so interested to see how the shots look when developed. Good watch! Lowkey a camera makes taking walks a bigger joy then it already is
lol the lomography's lens messed up so quickly, switched to the miniolta af bigfinder. PICS ARE CRISP NOW, shoutout the glass lens
You met Elliot! Sweet!
Hey Bob, I recently went on a similar journey to you. I bought a Fuji X100V (I lucked out and bought it new) and wasn’t a big fan of the focal length, but it really inspired me to carry it around with me.
I ended up landing on a Fujifilm XF10. It’s discontinued and the prices are kind of inflated right now, but I love it. It is a fixed lens camera that literally fits in the pocket of my jeans. It’s 18.5mm on an APSC sensor. If you look into it, people talk about how the autofocus sucks; they are full of shit. It works great for me.
Just wanted to throw it out there because I literally have this camera with me all of the time!
Hey Bob great to see a new video on here. Had fun watching it except I'm 24 and you singlehandedly just made me feel 50 at the end there when you said these are basically vintage now T-T
i love u bobbi thank u for the content
Damn, I had one of these back in the day. You're making me wish I kept it.
great video, I love this camera have used it for year still works GREAT. if you want to have some fun taking photos you may want to try Lensbaby your able to change the aperture shape which would give you some cool boca. and you can play with a pan tilt(tilt-shift) which can give you some cool effects and play with perspective.
Good on you for saving money. FYI that stuff on the screen is the adhesive from the manufacturer’s screen protector drying out. A hair dryer and a thin edge will peel it right off if you want it clean. You can always get another screen protector for cheap.
I love that you say filmic style and not cinematic, finally
This definitely has inspired me to go back and make more use out of my Fujifilm XT4. Got it as a graduation gift from college but never really used it
Also I just gotta say, I love that sling that Zim is in
I love these NEX cameras! I got an NEX-5R for cheap, it has a fully flip up screen that you can use for selfies, phase detect AF, and an extra dial on top for shutter speed/aperture. I love how compact it is and it was way more "fun" feeling than my a6600. There's also a 20mm f2.8 pancake if the 16mm feels too wide!
I eventually sold it for an RX100 VA that suited my compact camera needs more (I'm more of a video guy), but I really do miss these little tiny Sony mirrorless cams
I got a promist for my EOS-R. Really excited to try out that look. That shit at the bowling alley blew me away. Color was bad ass
Nice video. Consider a Fuji a few years old. I have an XE3 and love it, the film emulations, including the B&W are amazing
Exactly the same, I recently bought an Olympus e-pl1 🤙 Recommend MPB in the UK, fantastic second hand camera seller
That GxAce video does a great job breaking down why he prefers glimmer glass. That said, I just made my own diffusion filter using some translucent art spray fixative and slap it on cheap manual lenses like the Pergear 25 1.8 paired with my old X-E1.
I’ve been trying something similar with film lenses on my digital camera. It’s that mix of character and texture you’re talking about. And depending on the lens a pro missy filter isn’t really needed.
those e-mount cams have a ton of adapters for manual old lenses, so if you wanna get into more manual stuff you can adapt them
If that was Coney Island by any chance, I’m shocked you were able to find a section of boardwalk that was not only secluded enough to not have randos in the shots, but also not have litter strewn about.
I can imagine how stressful is being a content creator, even when your hobby is now work and you find yourself in this weird state of having to work on something you used to do for fun, either way, I'd be great if you keep upload things like this, Bob!
It's really cool to see you in a more chill way talking about things that you enjoy, I hope you do a video on this channel about coffee (without coca-cola, please) as that would be extremely interesting to watch
Keep up the good work!
There's a certain point where you just learn to let go and just enjoy as it is. Probably some form of catharticism to just let go and enjoy taking pictures and then toy around with it after
I was in the same situation and picked up a Lumix GX80 and the Olympus pancake zoom. That lens is amazing just for how tiny it is!
I still have my Sony NEX-F3 with the kit lens. The bendy flash is super useful. Has a bunch of rust from the beach and the sensor is all scratched up, but still produces ok photos.
Hey, I like your approach to taking pictures, mirrors mine, I’ve always been point and shoot, no need to be fiddling with tonnes of buttons every shot… nice images too btw
I fancy myself a bit of a picture doer . . . have you considered the Ricoh GR III or GR IIIx? Fantastic cameras, big ol sensor, and I think (especially for their size) the image quality is unparalleled. I can often take just that on shoots (as opposed to my big ol interchangeable lens cameras) and the clients are quite happy! But yeah, keep us up to date with your progress on that shooter, I'm definitely interested in hearing more. I'd love to see your thoughts after a year of shooting with it!
love the pro mist I use the same filter and only switch to a cpl when I want to control reflections
TBH, i would never think of a camera that big as "pocketable" HAHA
Wild, my first “real” camera was the NEX-5N with that 16mm lens. I also got the 50mm which really made that camera shine. I just pulled it back out for a backup camera too! Cheers
Some of Fuji's earlier mirrorless cameras are a blast to shoot with and doesn't come close to the marked up x100v price tag. They also have the earlier X-Trans sensors which give filmic results, sort of like how everyone says CCD sensors do. Pair that with some adapted vintage lenses or 3rd party manual focus lenses (like TTartisans) and it's a blast for street photography or everyday life. Some great mentions are the X-Pro 1 and X-E1, but Fuji has countless other great options for an affordable mirrorless camera.
BOB if you're into old digital cameras with a film look might I recommend checking out the Olympus Evolt 500 or 300. The CCD sensors inside have kodak color science and similar sensors were also used by Leica in their digital cameras.
I have a 2001 ish Nikon 990 which I keep around for similar reasons. It is as pocketable as a Switch and a good 2 lbs but does the job and I even picked up a wide angle lens back then that screws into the body. Sure, the flare of the wide lens blocks the flash but it is kind of fun to use.
Wake up babe, new Bob Wulff video dropped
Great video! I took photography my last year of high school and fell in love with the craft. What camera do you recommend to get back into digital/street photography? It's ok Zim! I tried not to laugh xD
a whole lot of people my age (zoomers) are also picking up old garbage cameras from like 2008, because that low res compression-y look is like our generation's VHS home videos. i like it personally
Agreed, I'm born in 2010 and use all the cameras my family used before my dad got an iPhone 7 in 2017 which had better quality.
@@mihailoaleksic3330 I almost typed up some snarky comment about how you're too young to be on youtube before realizing that no, 2010 was 13 years ago
@@csdgayim the same way i feel so old yet theyre basically the same generation as me, if not at the very beginning of gen alpha
I still use this camera, the screen protector has a coating that wears down with time. You can lift the old one with a heatgun or hair dryer and put a new one for about 2 dlls
I had that camera until it broke down a few years ago, they are great little cameras. This week I've been walking around with my Nikon D90 from 2008 it's been fun, it's so quick compared to even modern mirrorless cameras. There is line of sigma lenses (ART DN I think they are called) that you might get for your sony, they are cheap and fun to shoot with
I love older gear, especially when its smaller and when you can take it anywhere it’s not a hassle. Just point, shoot and get all those moments (in a very non-modern less sharpy way, reminisce of old school family photos).
My most-shot camera is a Sony DSLR from 2011 - still takes great images and there's something to be said about having a piece of equipment that you've used forever and are just very familiar with
Yes! I have the same exact camera! I too wanted to start using it again…. I might just go back into street photog with it with some non-kit lenses… I agree their Menus aren’t the best. I also went the canon route recently with an R7
Love the guy bowling and his gut
Bobby WulffSnaps ova' heeeeere
Was thinking about getting a point and shoot or the nex for similar reasons for travel. I have an A7IV and III for my professional work but they’re way too bulky and just want to capture memories quickly. My last trip I brought my A7III and found myself just wanting to pull out my phone to capture but there’s something to using a dedicated camera. Especially when you’re not trying to burn out your phone battery, relying on it to communicate, get around, etc or in a foreign place.
Im also a sucker for the look of the black pro mist filters
If you don't need video for that street photography simply get the by now ancient X-T1 or X100T. (Same sensor) Those 16MP sensors look incredibly filmic when iso is cranked and are probably the best cameras for black and white you could possibly get if you like to force a lot of grain. Fujifilm in general (all generations) also have way less colour noise, even the new 40MP sensors have almost only luminance noise. But for me, X-T1 / X100T represents the best snappers because the film simulations are more curated, so you don't have to scroll through 60 other sims to get to classic chrome or acros. Also just like your camera, unlike those filthy Olympus cameras, the power on latch is on the right side so you can turn it on while you grab it :P
Thanks for the vid
This is so funny, I have been obsessing about a small portable camera that wouldn't be crazy expensive but I wanted full frame sensor. So I pulled out my old a7s mark I, and a pergear 35mm f1.4 manual lens. Cheap metal, all manual lens.
Ive got an a5000 and it always been my undercover low profile camera
I have the Nex 5n as well and I daily shoot the A7 series. The 5n still makes really good photos if you pair it with some quality optics. I have adaptors to both Leica M and Nikon as I have both glass around. The adaptors are fairly cheap and you can get old Nikon glass on the second hand market for real cheap. I strongly advise you to try it out. It gives my photography a new life everytime I sell and buy a new quirky lens to try out. Also Old glass don't devaluate, so you can usually buy and sell the lenses for the same price, not loosing any mony trying out all kinds of weird stuff.
Great video. I have the 1st Gen nex3 (14mp) and the 5n has the "newer" 16mp so is the 4th nex camera. I also pair mine with the same 16mm lens. Good EDC random pix whatever camera that's shutter let's you and everyone else know you took a picture..
Usually people prefer Electronic shutters for street photography
Took me 3 and a half minutes to realize this was posted on Bobs personal channel instead of WulffDen lol. I’m like I remember Bob having a lot more subscribers and why does this have less views than usual…
I'm still using my Nikon D700 as my main camera for photography, I haven't found a reason to upgrade considering what I need it for.
I really enjoyed this video, I pulled dout my old Nikon Coolpix camera unfortunately the lens refused to open even after charging maybe I'll look around local shops for a vintage digital cam I've been thinking about this for awhile now myslwf
Bob! Try some light painting! It's a project but it's fun with friends.
if you want to buy something simiilar thats fun and pocketable, might i suggest a panasonic zs40. it shuts pretty flat but has a 30x optical zoom, 18mp, raw capable, and has built in wifi so you dont even have to take the sd card out if you dont want to. aperture only goes down to 3.3, so the images are a bit flatter, but its great for that old school digicam vibe that still takes some solid shots.
Bob lookin like the bully from Breakfast Club lol Cool video!
I have just watched your video on how you love your 3D printer and how you made all this stuff with it, which I think is really great.
Now seeing you loving this camera and how you want to get the best out of what you already have and you seem to be a really creative person, so I thought I might share with you some 3D Scan ideas since it combines taking pictures and then you can also 3D print the objects you scanned.
In my case I scanned my dog, some statues around the city where I live and some other stuff which I visited.
Did you know you can use your camera to super simple scan objects and even people with ? You simply have to take about 100-250 photos (depending on the object) and then use those pictures in a Software to create a 3D model. There is free software like Meshroom or 3DF Zephyr (free up to 50 pictures) or paid like 3D Zephyr (more than 50 pictures) or Agisoft Metashape.
So check it out and tell me what you think of my Idea.
Again I am happy to help if you or anybody on this channel has questions in regard to this process like costs, quality, how long it takes how to improve Quality in these software packages etc.
You can even use your Phone camera if you don´t have a DSLR, I do this too, you can check out some of my Scans here: sketchfab.com/Scan.guy/models
I use a NEX c3 for scanning my film . Does the job more than enough
I have an NEX3 (14MP) which I like very much and produces IMHO really nice, high quality images. Th kit lens is good too (well, mine isn’t because it’s in pieces atm…)
You may like to try the ZV-e10!
Yeah I can’t wait to get a new Kodak disposable camera!!
Reminds me of my Canon Rebel T2i when I started making videos.
Thank you for making amazing content bro. Always looking forward to new uploads from you.
Oh wow a Bob Wulff video
oh hello
@@BobWulff why are you using this camera from 2011? Did you break your new one?
@@JerryMeehanJr I have a whole video about it
@@BobWulff oh ok perfect I’ll watch
I picked up a Nex-c3 and a 5N a bit ago to get into photography but with a decent upgrade path if I wanted to grow into it and keep lenses, unfortunately the c3 is lacking the IR receiver so bulb shots suck so nothing longer than 30seconds which is sad casue I've been into astro pics, and the 5N I haven't had the time or space to get around to repairing it, it takes vids fine but when taking pics it takes the pic then crashes and needs a reset. That's something Bob should look out for, apparently if the shutter mechanism gets dirty it doesn't reset right and his grip being split makes it more likely to happen. the weirdness of his screen is the special wanker anti-reflective black enhancing coating aging poorly
I ended hating Sony cameras, but the best street everyday carry camera is the Next 5t. I sold all my Sony gear a year ago, but the camera I liked the most from Sony was the Nex 5T. Now for street I have my phone or the Nikon Z30 or Z50
i still have a canon g10, maybe i should try it out!
probably not your thing, but I have a lot of fun using my old sony a5100 with full manual lens like the 7Artisans 50mm f0.95 and I highly recommend to try that if anyone into portrait photography
I have the a5100 which is a tiny bit newer and cheaper, but it's such a nice camera.
Flip screen, 21MP, shoots in raw, similar body size to this one.
For pro work I have the FX6 and FX30.
*24mp and it shoots better fhd at avchds than the a6300/6400/6500/6100/6600 somehow
@@KNAPPAID You're right, 24 :)
Yeah, video is so pleasing on it, might be the color science... I didn't have the cameras you mentioned, but I had the FS100 and it had very nice colors too. I think they started to tinker with it afterwards and made it worse for a while.
@@lukastemberger the colors are workable even on the old green tinged sony , its just that the a6xxx after the a6000 used the copper wiring sensor ( that somehow forfeits fhd )
You would love a Ricoh GR III...or the GR II if you don't mind using an older style camera and saving a bunch of money
This guy looks like the guy from wulffden!
Nice
Hi Bob!
Hello
Hey Elliot!
My first DSLR was a used Canon 5D Mark ii. 2023 I have since upgraded to a used Canon 5D Mark iii. I'm going to buy a used Canon T?i from a pawn shop.
BOB BOB BOB
I hear there's a trend to use the iPhone 3's camera. Dunno why
now a days my generation like to use old dslrs and digital cameras for vintage look
People are unironically using PS Vita's and 3DS cameras for that "early internet" look, it's totally a weird phenomenon.
