lint roll your work surface before crafting. Just one of those sticky disposable sheet ones. Picks up fur, lint, random crumbs and other stray bits. Beautiful leaves.

I love these! The round one you could almost use as a table top in a fairy house if you cut it a bit thicker, it would look like a wood slab. I was so mesmerized by you shaping the leaves that I actually said “awww” when I realized you were done! Great video. I love them all but this one was one of my favorite!!!

Lol! I’d rather craft than anything else at home too. I let my fur babies have the run of the house and there’s fur on my favorite chair all the time. The ONLY place they are not allowed in is my studio, a small extra bedroom right smack in the middle of the house. I work with polymer clays, resin and make quality dollhouse furniture. I just got tired of fighting the doggie hair. My baby is a Pomeranian! Love your videos and subscribed. You are truly a down to earth joy to see and hear. Thank you for your great tutorials.

About the pet hair, I have found that most of it comes from what I'm wearing, so fresh and lint brushed shirt helps quite a bit as well as dusting the work area. I have three Persian cats, so ya!! 😹

such fun!!! You know you can make a glass murrini (cane) the same way - build on the main rod until you get it how you want it, marver it into shape and pull it into a "stringer"... Once it is cool, snip off little chunks and stick it on your larger work or beads! Popular way to make eye parts to stick onto a white gather & make cool eyeballs.
Yes! I haven't tried that technique, but a lot of polymer clay techniques have their roots in glass working!

If you want a very vieny leaf with a pronounced gloat what you can do is make a blend and then make a thinner sheet of just glow clay and roll then together to get a "striped" bullseye. then you smoosh the plug into an oval, cut it on a diagonal, then flip one half and put it together. I usually reserve some "blend" and fanfold it to make a center slice.

I just sort of wandered over to this video as it came up in a recommend and I gotta say, those leaves were just too beautiful to pass up! I'm just getting into polymer clay, and I want to get the tools that I need. What is the cutting tool (long one) that you use, and where can I get one? BTW you are my crafting idol. :)

@Sharane Wiedenhoeft; You can purchase cutting blades like the one Yvonne used in this tutorial at either “Michael’s “. or “ Joann’s “ or any craft and hobby store. I purchase a lot of my polymer clay and tools from both stores. You might want to check out “ Turtle Soup Beads” with Susan, she demonstrates some interesting techniques and shares ideas on how to make some of your own tools and how to use some items like a number 2 pencil , a piece of white paper ( from the recycle bin), a knitting needle, or how to cut up a empty soda can to make a cutting tool, even an empty cereal bag and cardboard can be used in ways as tools. You can also check out “Tiny Pandora “; I hear that she has some wonder ideas and tools to offer also. I believe Yvonne ‘s forte is Fairy houses because she has made a lot of really beautiful ones to date and not an ugly one yet. ( If She ever made an ugly Fairy house , it would probably be for Ugly Fairies.) ✨👍👍✨🧚♀️🧚♂️

@@emmalove135 Actually, I do follow Susan, but I really got the bug now that I'm doing this with my grandkids. Thanks for the tip, though. I got my clay from the local stores. Hobby Lobby had the best selection and prices. Baking is becoming somewhat of an issue. I have to do it at my house instead of my daughter's where the magic takes place. My son-i-law has a mildly violent reaction to the fumes. I don't smell anything.:) Thanks again for your advice.
When you cut the blend roll in half it looked like dirt with grass. Oh the happy accidents. 😊

Tip to keep your long strip from wandering back and forth on the rollers. Corral it in. Place the strip at one end of the rollers against the frame then, on the other side of the strip, place a "jig" to hold the strip in place. The jig can be anything that will sit on the rollers without getting caught between them or rolling around itself. You can make your own jig with scrap clay. The jig will need to be stabilized so the clay can't move it out of the way. Anything that doesn't get caught between the rollers that goes from the jig to the other side of the frame works. Desiree has a tutorial for making a jig and uses magnets to keep the jig in place. I made my jig much smaller.

I’ve had a look and it looks nifty. Only thing I’d be worried about is the magnets putting tiny scratches on the bars as it rolls etc which would cause problems later on.
