Respect. I have a '94 Daimler 4.0, one of the last off the line. Built like a tank, no rust, looks like nothing else on the road. Definitely a keeper.

We're looking forward to our club's 2014 meeting at Beaulieu Motor Museum in the New Forest in September. We'll have a paddock of our own to display our cars and hopefully good weather and a great turnout! Thanks for the comment and Best Regards!

I live in Chicago, IL. I own a 1994 XJ12/XJ81 6.0 with 83,000 mi on her, Pristine. "Miss Maid Marion" is her name, Black w/ Connolly Cream, factory installed stainless steel side kickers. Runs like a Beast, very fast, growls like a Jaguar when I feel like it. Actually very quiet & surprises many a muscle car owner, for it's quite silent. If they don't see the XJ12 badge, I just blow past the competition. Beautiful Black Cat, very regal & I feel like I own the road!
    Cheers, Christopher!!

My first Jaguar was a 1988 XJ6/XJ40 It was blue with blue leather interior and Dayton wire wheels. I loved the handling and the driving experience. What I hated were the bad exterior door handles that would stick and break, The ABS and rear tail light modules also went bad on these cars. Once I bought a 1995 X300 Vanden Plas I never looked twice at a XJ40 because Jaguar got it right with the 1995-1997 X300.

In Florida I had a 1990 XJ40. The diff whined, the engine leaked oil, the head gasket went south. The front rotors warped, every other day it would go into limp home mode. The water pump started leaking. The rotor arm burnt out. The mineral oil leaked, the washer res leaked, the windscreen wiper would not switch off. The glove box would fly open, the air conditioning stopped working, the steering rack started leaking, it wouldn't pass state emmisions, the newer style door handles started to get stiffer to use, I was waiting for them to snap. Yep nice Jag, I kept it for 5 yrs. The only thing I can say, it was better than my 1987 series 3. But the older series 3 handled better. The reason I kept the XJ40 was I got a fucking great blow job a month after I got it, ahh the memory's!!

Cheers Gareth! My Sovereign is also one of the last off the line and they are surely the most sought after of them all. Fascinating to see that white pre-production car owned by David Marks in the video. From first to last so to speak. Enjoy your Daimler, Best Regards, Ivor

Hi MiamiMillionaire! Luckily you don't have to be a millionaire to afford one of these wonderful cars. Mine is a 1994 4.0L Sovereign XJ40 in racing green with magnolia and green piped leather and champagne carpets. My pride and joy! Best Regards, Ivor

Thanks for the comment Paul! There's not a lot between the X300 and the "last of the line" XJ40 as many of the parts are common between them, but styling wise the XJ40 wins out for me. And for the prices you can pick one up for these days they are a great value way in to luxury motoring. Regards, Ivor

Greetings! There are a few weak points to look for - usually areas that rust and rubber parts that simply deteriorate with age. Come on over to the forum at the URL mentioned in the video description and you'll find many owners willing to help! See you there, regards, Ivor

Definitely not my idea! That's what YT mangled my lovely 3GB DV AVI into after a transfer that took nearly 3 hours to upload and process. Thank you ever so much though for pointing that out, I would never have noticed it you hadn't mentioned it ;-) I'll write to my MP and complain straight away...

I worked on Jags (jag master tech) from 1963-2008 and apart from the XJ 2.9lt the XJ 40 was crap, it was brought out to early and we had to do enhancements, practically rebuild the car from electrics, brakes etc, Trims, seals, water leaks Also so much went wrong with them ie: head gaskets, loss of brake pedal accumulater sphere leak, brake valve body Valves, Diff noise, brake calliper seizure, poor handbrake, Ride leveling shocks leaking causing suspension to knock or bounce, aircon faults , vent flap faults and vac pipes, electrical faults , warnings on dash , it was the earliest diagnostic systems JDS which was hit or miss ,too much to write about. I've probably left something out as it's been a long time ago. Cheer's.
