Anybody here enjoy both Mark (aka Classic Game Room) and James (AVGN) equally? I know I do. I can't get enough of either's videos.
They're both really good. Another channel I enjoy a lot is Console Wars (levelonerules), who pit SNES and Sega Genesis versions of games against one another. Very hammy stuff yet very neat.
AVGN is good for belly laughs. Mark's sense of humor is drier and more refined. The fact that he plays department store elevator music in the background while playing frenetic old shooter games on the Genesis is hilarious, and you don't even have to laugh to enjoy it.
Daltin Loomis i love both of them, they're really great.

Funny thing is Mark and AVGN are opposites. Mark is super-chill and AVGN is so frustrated. They would make a great Buddy Comedy!

AVGN & CGR are the ORIGINAL youtube gamers going back to 5 PLUS yrs... The rest of the newer guys i find annoying, especially that "AngryJoe" guy or whatever his name is.. I tried watching him a few times and i never could stick around more then a few minutes, he s so fucking annoying starts yelling out of nowhere and his sound is unbalanced , sure AVGN yells alot, but he does it with style and not cheesyness and bad sound. AVGN & CGR - CZcams legends.

James has said that he didn't normally drink rolling rock but that a friend of his left his six pack at his home. Or something to that extent, and he needed beer to make his first video so he used what he had in the fridge. Rolling rock of course became iconic to the nerds character which is why Rolfe kept it around .

I particularly liked how this guy harped on AVGN's choice of beer. That was genuinely awesome.

I really do love looking at this game, I can say that much.
Makes me notice how unique AVGN & Cinemassacre in general is for having a big enough universe to be able to paint an entire game in it's image. From recognizable characters (allies & foes) to running themes that fit to make a world around. Rolling rock health, the classic power glove birds that take shits on you (surprising that it's a thing).
It's like, you couldn't do something like this with Nostalgia critic or Hellsing920 as easily.
It's so unusual to hear Mark talking about AVGN, because I don't think I've ever heard him reference James before in any previous video. Even though AVGN is a character first and a reviewer second, both Mark and James were pioneers in the world of online video game review shows. CGR was the first video game review show on the Internet, and AVGN inspired countless video game-related CZcams channels big and small. Their styles are light years apart, though.
Does this game support 4:3 aspect ratios? I'd love to run it through a scan converter to play it in true 240p on a CRT television!

I'm a subscriber of both, and my CZcams page was open as I did something else, and the title somehow caught my eye even though I wasn't looking at it, and a bunch of calculations started running in my head that something was not right. AVGN and CGR in the same title.

According to James, the Rolling Rock thing happened because he wanted the nerd to drink alcohol as if it was a way to cope with playing shitty games. Rolling Rock was the beer he happened to have in his fridge when he was filming and it stuck. In recent episodes the nerds beer of choice has been Yuengling, which I'm sure Mark can appreciate.

It's awesome seeing people bridge that gap and actually include others of the same category to boost one another rather than only seeking self ego stroking. What ever happened of that AVGN movie anyway? I seen trailers over on GameTrailers website but that was it.
Agreed, or a STEAM game where Lord Karnage drives an El Camino that had flamethrowers on the front, in a racing type came where u have to mow down monster, and people who run onto the track, and Heyzoos, Derek, and Edit Station one can all be playable as well.

ok, being a fan of both mark and james... this blew my fucking mind. a classic game room review with the AVGN theme in the first minute of the video. both Pennsylvanian game reviewers that have been there for years upon years, and both exceedingly hilarious and intelligent in what they do. now i come across this. i am bowing down and my balls are clapping to the hum of a vectrex with a flamethrower.

I can't think of a certain genre of game for Mark since he reviews them all-> so I'd go with the Classic Game Room Pinball machine - it would be the first pinball machine in history to have an 'El Camino/space/vectrex' theme & built in beer tap....

The sequel should be called "Mark and James: Excellent Adventure." The beer bottles will be changed to Mark's personal favorites. He will be holding an 8-bit Sega Master system gun for his weapon on the side scrolling stages. On the driving stages, the El Camino!!

before CGR there was nothing. The fact that by the time the CZcams channel went online, Mark already had a solid body of work as far as game reviews. My generation was there when the internet took off and we looked to these gen x pioneers to be cultured as gamers. Born in 88 i remember vividly the tail end of the games of their youth and the entire 90s.

Mark the reason it's Rolling Rock, is cause it was what James had in his refrigerator at the time when he first started making videos, and it stuck, which he explained in a behind the scenes video, and he could have used a worse beer like Bud or BudLight, but he has said he usually drinks better beer when not doing videos, but I actually like Rolling Rock myself for a cheap beer, when it's hot out.

Mark should have His own game. It'd be a Space Shooter, where you play as Mark, flying around in his Magic El Camino, trying to save the Intergalactic Space Arcade from the evil group known as "VECTREX". I'd buy it.
