  • Every shade tree mechanic gets tired of laying on the floor or crouching under a car on jack stands. That’s especially true when you’ve had the taste of freedom and “room for activities” that a 2 post lift provides. After using my scissor lift for many years, I finally was able to move to a house that would fit a 2 post lift. I knew the day would come and had been saving in my tool fund for the “some day” eventuality. Sadly that day came and the inflation pricing was in effect. While that did make me think twice about the decision to buy a lift, it was just that a thought. I moved forward and purchased a 2 post Champion TP11HD from my local distributor. I opted to have them install it because it included delivery. In hind sight the install was straight forward and would have only required that I rent a portable material lift. The grand total came to just under $5,500 dollars. Prior to install I had to have my post tension slab x-rayed which ran $300. All told, I’m happy with the decision even if the cost means I have to wait to tackle other projects as I save back up. A four post lift would have been nice but for me the added room the equipment takes up just wouldn’t work. I realize I could do much of the same work with a 4 post using the trolley jacks but even still I’d likely be more frustrated due to the footprint it would take. Thanks for watching!

    A retired tired old baker on S/S here, i have a single car garage, only 8 feet to the roof, not ceiling..the roof.
    my choices were limited, i opted for the 2 post maxjax 50" midrise and reclining creeper, its like a beach lounger on wheels.
    i redid the concrete 40Kpsi with rebar last yr DIY and just installed the lift 3 weeks ago.
    i would have been happy with a scissor lift but seeing as i had the new reinforced floor it made sense to spend a bit more and get the midrise 2 post. my advise is just do it, put it on a CC and make payments for a few months.
    Many lifts have almost doubled in price in the past 4 years, 1 day after i ordered (from lowes) the price increased $500.

    I'd give my left testicle and my first born for even just the scissor lift. I'm tired of the limited heights that jack stands provide. One day. Thanks for these videos.

      It took me many years to get to this point. Keep grinding and it will come. Thanks for watching.

    I am still in floor jack / jack stand purgatory and looking at all options for the future. Thanks for these videos!

    I have woodowrk tools. car tools. house tools. etc.... Stuff all over the place. 3 car garage with 4 cars inside, 4 lift. Solution told my wife I need a 9 car garage. Not 5, 6 ,7 or 8. Straight to 9 car. LOL Nice video. Thanks for the Pros and Cons.

    the 2-post in-ground lifts seems to have same pros and cons as a scissor lift

    • @DrivingForwardBuilds
      @DrivingForwardBuilds  Před rokem +1

      Yup. Depends how the posts are oriented in ground. If the posts are separate you gain both the pros of both lifts.

    Quick question. Is there enough overhead room for you to get your truck hoisted up without hitting the crossbar at the top?

    • @DrivingForwardBuilds
      @DrivingForwardBuilds  Před rokem

      That’s a good question. I haven’t yet gone all the way to the top so I’m not sure. Thankfully it hasn’t needed much work.

    Would you recommend this TP11-HD after a year of use?

    • @DrivingForwardBuilds
      @DrivingForwardBuilds  Před 7 dny +1

      Yes and no. If you need it for a big truck the. Yes, it worked great for that. I’ve since sold my truck and primarily work on smaller cars. For that the lift arms are too long(still work fine, it’s just tough to get on the correct lift points), at least in the configuration I have. I was limited on the width of the main posts because of my post tension slab. I I could have setup the posts 8-10” wider it would be amazing. So yes, still working great.

      @@DrivingForwardBuilds Thanks for the quick reply. Was mainly wanting the extra width. Majority of work will be Toyota 4x4s, Ram 3500 SRW and other trucks. Sounds like it'd be good for that.

    Do you have enough room to pull rear axle shafts with a 2 post? Looked tight.

    • @DrivingForwardBuilds
      @DrivingForwardBuilds  Před rokem

      There certainly isn't much room. I'd have to measure for specific a circumstance, and potentially rack the vehicle at an angle.

    Did you consider a cantilever 2 post lift?

    • @DrivingForwardBuilds
      @DrivingForwardBuilds  Před rokem

      I have looked at those but am a little unfamiliar with them. They were also more money to get the same capacity.

    Where do you put the arms for lifting points on your truck?

    We all have self imposed limitations 🤣. And if your shop looks like a bomb went off, mine looks like a nuclear devastated wasteland. Yes. I realize that isnt something to be proud of. 😁
