Ok.. I gotta start from the beginning. Honestly, I only saw Leon Lush's first video about her channel and I knew this was going to be too big to follow along with while I was armpit deep in other ARGs.. man, I wish I could split myself up Quantumly
I felt the same way I saw the community post Inside a Mind made at the very beginning of the Sophie ARG and when it started to get strange I knew I wouldn’t be able to follow it but I found a CZcamsr nBURD who pretty much made video explaining each I am Sophie video that’s how I followed the story
I think it's more than just CZcamsrs and it's actually about the people who decide to try and be online influencers. As someone who's trying so hard to be an artist on Twitter I can't help but relate to Sophie and Lana as I've always had the mentality that having a sort of brand could help me get insta-famous along with art trends and challenges on Twitter to get more likes to the point that I got so drained and burned out that the touch of my drawing tablet pen really bummed me the fuck out and left me motivationless and tired even if I havent done anything yet. A few months back even if I was so tired I kept pushing myself to do artworks by guilt tripping myself with losing against the algorithm if I took longer breaks on my art account and it just resulted in me not finishing anything cause I despised what I was doing,,, It's so corny but this is what social media really does to people it feeds off of people's drives and desires to be big and spit on them when they don't post constantly or if they shit too much content

The whole thing of CZcamsrs getting bored made me realize something. A Reddit CZcamsr named GioFilms recently stopped uploading and said goodbye. He’s now uploading under the name The Analysis. He quit his reddit channel at the perfect time. When CZcamsrs need to take a break or stop uploading, I understand why

In that scene where sofie was running from mark and he was teleporting everywhere represent the viewer as mark follows the creator sofie everywhere she goes and the guy in the costume is the youtube or the algorithm that stands beside the viewer , even the way that scene was shot like ben the camera was always focusing on sofie whatever happens , he kept running behind her and kept her in frame

Going to be totally real. I love my job as a full time CZcamsr because of what I've made, the love my audience gives my work, and the ability to have a platform to share an extremely underrated medium that I love, comics, but also to speak up against bigots who share hate and misinformation. At the same time, I absolutely hate my job and often times, it makes me fucking miserable. At this point, I mostly do it because it's all I'm halfway decent at doing. Besides, being an online content creator is all I've ever wanted to be since I've known that it was a real career, but had I known what it would do to me, I would have never started. Sure, I have other skills and COULD leave content creation behind, but I'm terrified of switching careers because what if that fails? I'm not large enough of a creator to be able to start CZcams back up successfully after a big hiatus.
Hell, I had a few suicide attempts partly because of the stress of this job and I needed to take a month off for my own sanity. The end result was being MASSIVELY fucked over by CZcams's algorithm and it took me a year to get back in its good graces to be where I was at before my month off. CZcams's algorithm is a god damn treadmill that forces creators to constantly put out content or else they'll stop promoting it favorably. I make decent enough money, sure, but not enough for a team. So as a one man operation, I can't produce the high quality content that I've pigeon holed myself into multiple times a week.
During that time after my break, I was really struggling financially because of the dip in the algorithm's push and I needed to grab multiple part time jobs to afford rent. This career has myself and many other mid-tier creators by the balls and it's completely soul crushing, but as you mentioned in the video, we have to manufacture enthusiasm for our audiences and need to stay positive, even if we hate what we're doing. There's so much work that goes into being a content creator that the average viewer is ignorant to. It looks easy. "Oh, just turn on a camera and play video games for an hour and make a million dollars!" Yeah, it's not that.
I think that's a missive thing to note too. Unless you're absolutely huge on CZcams. It's very rare you can get away with a break working on videos. Judging from the comments who are disagreeing with me, I think many of them misunderstand how much CZcamsrs actually make. The top 1% are always in their view, so they just believe all of them make a million dollars. When a lot of them are just scraping by.
Tom (the creator) has actually come out and spoken openly about iamsophie being a hate letter to CZcams. He hasn't had a holiday in years because of the algorithm being so demanding and the constant worry of putting someone new in your place if you don't hit your schedule.
This two part series came off the back of a 3 month hiatus (which was due to depression). I felt it was an important piece of media that could really open a discussion. Which I'm glad it has. I've had a few creators watch it and didn't even realise this was something they've been going through before. Which makes me wonder how many others are going through this and have no idea.

The sacrificing friends part is so true. Before this I was watching an r/askreddit video asking people what it's like to be friends with an influencer, and most, though not all, of them, whether it be friends, family, partners, say that it's like that person is living their life in the internet, and they've got no time to be 'real'. Everything has to be filmed, everything has to be planned, everything has to be posted online.

I loved Vinny's videos so much. I would watch them right when he uploaded them. I actually found him through jaime. I never realized he didn't like doing those videos. Now I can see why. I'm glad hes in a happier place
It's not just internet or CZcams channels where a person is stuck in a box but every career I think. Everyday eachday we are supposed to do almost the same work even if a person follow there passion like even drawing where a person might have to draw something they don't like on demands to earn enough to live.

Considering the ideas and themes that keep showing up in this ARG, it is interesting that the name Sophie means "wisdom."
I think that the bit where Lara was outside of the room with Sophie trying to get into the dark room was a metaphore for a camera being a wall, like the forth wall. I think it's saying Lara has lost herself to Sophie but doesn't want to go back or can't go back

I had a CZcams channel a few months back (not the one I'm commenting this on) where I uploaded videos analyzing video games and their artistic value, and they never got more than 100 views. I wasn't really that good at editing, but I put a lot of time into writing the scripts. But then one day there was an update to a multiplayer game I liked and I made a quick improvised video that I didn't script and recorded in one take. The video just told people some basic information that I gathered in 10 minutes. This video literally came out less than 2 hours after the update released. No editing, no planning, just me stuttering through the entire thing. Then it got more views in 15 minutes than every video on my channel combined had gotten in 2 months. I know 15k views isn't a lot, but it was disheartening that my videos I actually tried to make good never got attention, but the shitty video did really well. I didn't really get depressed, but I lost all passion for making videos and ended up wasting 5 months doing absolutely nothing because it felt like no matter what I did I would never succeed by making the videos I actually wanted to make and was proud of. I've finally gotten past that in the past few weeks and am back to working on videos I enjoy making, but I swear that you are absolutely right in your argument about small channels blowing up. When things you poured even a little bit of effort into fail and the thing you didn't work on at all succeeds, it can destroy all desire to continue. I put all of my chips into buying myself a year and a half to exclusively work on building a channel, and I ended up wasting 1/3 of it because I couldn't see why I'd want to continue if nothing I enjoyed making would succeed.
CZcamsr burn out is a very real thing.

This isn't a uniquely CZcams experience either. In fandom you see it a lot, with writers & artists giving their all to create engaging original content for people to love, spending hours on building up entire worlds to explore... Only for their most popular posts to be shitty memes or the doodle or drabble of a popular pairing from a popular show they did in ten minutes. Things I worked for hours on got no love while I was getting close to 2k notes on a meme about school & growing up autistic. It's just so so disheartening for anyone who creates anything

The strange irony is that CZcamsrs that are already massive, (eg: Pewdiepie, KSI, Lazarbeam, Markiplier, DanTDM, Smosh etc) tend to quite easily understand this concept and just take breaks accordingly. Smaller creators have yet to find that balance.

Definitely an interesting concept, presented in an interesting way. I think having Sophie be an artificial construct lessens the impact, as it makes her 'fake' by design, not choice, but the theme still holds strong.
But Lara is ascribing to be like something that was never real in the first place. That’s why Sophie being fake is essential.
