I sympathize with you ... A fall in the bathroom took me from being an active outdoorsman and equestrian to walking full time with a cane (nerve damage) I try to keep this thought ... No matter how bad I feel, or no matter the difficulty I have getting around, there are countless people so much worse off than I am. I feel I am blessed.
Glad you back, the circumstances surrounding your absence are more common than you may think. I spent close to forty years as a Paramedic/R.N. I have seen injuries similar to yours and you're lucky to be relatively back to norma. I'm close to being the same age and body type. Fat guys don't bounce. I'm glad you're recovering and hopefully getting back to normal soon.
Not me, bud, after 7 years, I was burnt out. I couldn't do it anymore. I am glad there are people like you and some of my friends who could keep right on going with it. Thank you!

Holy moley, that is some tough sledding you've had to endure. From your description and the severity of your injuries, I'm actually surprised to see the extent of your arm mobility as it is now and know how hard you have had to work to have even that much range of motion. I was even more surprised to hear you have been able to get to the range and shoot. That is great. I had my right hip and both knees replaced in 2013, so know some of what you've gone through, but I still had my upper body strength in tact. Boy howdy, that is a long road back you've traveled. May God continue to strengthen you to do all you can do and keep you empowered you to do to inspire others.
Mike, I'm sorry....... your story telling had me in stitches, right up there with hunting teddies. Glad the worst is over. Hope you are at 100% real soon. Spent a few weeks in a nursing home "rehab" and it was awful. When it was all over, I developed a new appreciation for life in general and praise for most of the nursing staff in the hospital and rehab center. Your humor and whit are in tack and that is a good thing.
I missed you. Last I heard you were having problems with the shooting range. FYI we're about the same age and unfortunately girth as well. Getting older sucks. Glad you are still alive at least. You are one of the good guys, and we need you on this planet. Sounds like you lived through the equivalent of the Spanish Inquisition. I just hope you don't get addicted to pain meds now. I bet they didn't even offer you a bit of whiskey before the ordeal. Sounds a little like a Civil War reenactment of a period field hospital. I don't think people realize what an injury like that is like. Simple things, just going to the bathroom is an ordeal. Man, I so get you on this. And I'm so very sorry you went through so much pain. I'm glad you decided to share this though. Now I have an excuse not to carry in the groceries. Take your time. Your core audience will be waiting. May God be with you, dear sir.

My wife went to the extended care/rehab facility for broken leg...and her experience was not quite as bad as yours. Not great, understand, but better. She would echo your "these places are understaffed", and from what I saw she was not wrong. Here in Arkansas it was mostly Caucasian folks but very much caring, dedicated people. I'm totally on board with you (I tore my rotator cuff and it was both incredibly painful and took a LONG time to sort of heal) and hope you get better soon. I have no doubt you will, as attitude is everything, and yours is great!!!. Get well soon friend!

I’m so grateful to hear about your progress. As a religious Jew I’m also a man of faith and prayer and G-d seems to be helping you a lot. I would suggest getting the permit and keeping Duelist’s den but only go there accompanied by someone else who can drive your truck if need be. You gave me great advice about cleaning smokeless residue from .45 Colt cowboy loads fired with a Howell cylinder in a black powder revolver when I first got my Uberti 1858 new model army revolver and my Howell cylinder nearly 2 years ago and between what all you told me about cleaning and alignment plus a Dustin Winegar cleaning video I’ve been able to take my piece out about 10 times and clean it about 10 times just fine and so far I’ve put nearly 3 boxes worth of ammo through it
Prayers for a speedy recovery. Age get to all of us. I’m constantly being reminded by my knees and a neck injury that I’m no longer as young as I believe I am.

Good gracious you really did yourself one bad one. My brother knocked his shoulder out in a mountain biking accident recently and it's been a long road and PT for him to return that shoulder to like 98% strength. This was the first time in his life he's ever had a dislocation at age 46. For as broken up as you were, I'd say you're moving forward quickly by this time. I know all of this medical attention has cost a fortune, hope it hasn't destroyed you financially. Glad to see you back.

Broke his hip mowing the lawn, fell off a ladder again wearing flip flops.... other things so common demonitor... flip flops! I hurt hearing your update. Glad to hear from you!! My wife recently broke her hip on a fluke fall. It was a simple thing just yours that rearranged her life dramatically for a couple months. It affected both our lives but she, like you, stayed determined and is doing much better. Hang in there and keep plugging along with the PT. Have you tried water aerobics? I had a medical issue few years ago. Had to stay in hospital for two weeks and again few weeks later for ten days. It really sucks to be stuck in bed sick ,reallyweak, wanting to be able to do for your self. I remember it was so nice to get a shower and shave . ✝️🙏

Got the SliXshot nipples and loading lever extension. Cleaning it this week and making some paper cartridges next weekend! Thanks for inspiring me. Hope your healing continues, best wishes sir!
Oh my gosh what a complete and total nightmare!! I can’t believe how good you look having gone through all that. I just can’t imagine what that would be like for me. Yes prayer and faith is what we have, Mike you aren’t whining at all be blessed and may the healing touch of Christ bring you complete healing. Glad to hear you are on the mend. I live with some physical restrictions, but I can do most anything one way or another. It has been sixty years now, and I thank God for what I have and what I can do I live by "Never give up, Never Surrender". I am able to shoot, but I am not able to walk down range to collect and change targets, with out pain. I try to not let anyone know I am in pain. If I did they would not let me change my targets. I will not do that untill there is no other option. Keep up your physical therapy, in all activity. Our prayers are with ya way down here in Mississippi.

I saw the Duelist Den notification come up, recent! Hot Diggity Dog! So Very Happy to see you there Mike! As a heart attack victim and open heart surgery patient, I can appreciate your position very well! A few years back I’m on my shed roof one warm September eve and felt weird. Next thing I knew I’m riding in an ambulance. So for the next 21 days/daze I’m in the hospital. My kidneys had been damaged because of high BP and had to be dealt with before surgery. But six weeks in a nursing home after the hospital? Holy Moly Mike! Your pain, being unable to care for yourself, recovery and all those little steps to feel like your self again? I know well. It took me a good year to feel half decent again and that was after stints placed in the kidneys, legs and heart! Yes indeed, I’m a Stintman! I remember climbing the stairs for the first time was very slow. In our so called golden years we can certainly feel like the gold turned to lead! But getting back in my workshop was a joy just to sit there. We fans will always have your back Mike as you have a top of the line channel complete with all aspects of firearms with amazing histories, which make this topic fascinating as well. Love your videos!!! Last Feb8 24 I had a reverse shoulder replacement, so I know a very small amount of what you had to go through. My case was very minor compared to yours, however through the Grace of God, lots of prayers and a strong faith in Jesus I’m pain free and back to normal except for a small amount of swelling. Don’t give up your faith and I can’t wait to see you making smelly smoke once again. I turned 75 last Feb. God Bless ya’ll

Just over a year ago my GF shattered both wrists and forearms in a horrific incident and went through a similar invalid situation, so I appreciate what you and your family are going through. Oh my gosh what a complete and total nightmare!! I can’t believe how good you look having gone through all that. I just can’t imagine what that would be like for me. Yes prayer and faith is what we have, Mike you aren’t whining at all be blessed and may the healing touch of Christ bring you complete healing. Please make more videos, you can do commentary about your life’s experiences. A lotta wisdom there!!

I live with some physical restrictions, but I can do most anything one way or another.
It has been sixty years now, and I thank God for what I have and what I can do
I live by "Never give up, Never Surrender".
I am able to shoot, but I am not able to walk down range to collect and change targets, with out pain.
I try to not let anyone know I am in pain.
If I did they would not let me change my targets.
I will not do that untill there is no other option.
Keep up your physical therapy, in all activity.

I saw the Duelist Den notification come up, recent! Hot Diggity Dog! So Very Happy to see you there Mike! As a heart attack victim and open heart surgery patient, I can appreciate your position very well! A few years back I’m on my shed roof one warm September eve and felt weird. Next thing I knew I’m riding in an ambulance. So for the next 21 days/daze I’m in the hospital. My kidneys had been damaged because of high BP and had to be dealt with before surgery. But six weeks in a nursing home after the hospital? Holy Moly Mike! Your pain, being unable to care for yourself, recovery and all those little steps to feel like your self again? I know well. It took me a good year to feel half decent again and that was after stints placed in the kidneys, legs and heart! Yes indeed, I’m a Stintman! I remember climbing the stairs for the first time was very slow. In our so called golden years we can certainly feel like the gold turned to lead! But getting back in my workshop was a joy just to sit there. We fans will always have your back Mike as you have a top of the line channel complete with all aspects of firearms with amazing histories, which make this topic fascinating as well. Love your videos!!! Last Feb8 24 I had a reverse shoulder replacement, so I know a very small amount of what you had to go through. My case was very minor compared to yours, however through the Grace of God, lots of prayers and a strong faith in Jesus I’m pain free and back to normal except for a small amount of swelling.
Don’t give up your faith and I can’t wait to see you making smelly smoke once again.
I turned 75 last Feb.

Good to hear from you. My dad used to say, "getting old isn't for sissies." Your experiences remind me of his struggles with hips, knees, injuries, strokes, etc. Not fun. Glad to have you back and semi-vertical. Keep up the good attitude and hard work, and keep praying. We'll be praying for you as well.

Good to have you back, Mike. I knew you were out of service, but I had no idea the extent of your injuries. Just over a year ago my GF shattered both wrists and forearms in a horrific incident and went through a similar invalid situation, so I appreciate what you and your family are going through.
