  • Burmese dancer Htike Yadana performs the Peacock dance at the British Museum, London, UK on the 03rd Feb 2024.
"This dance is composed of 3 parts - a dancing peacock, a cockfighting peacock, and a fight-to-the-death peacock! The music and dance movements start elegantly regal and then reach a wild crescendo.
The peacock was a royal bird in Burma/Myanmar and seen as a symbol of prestige and power. It appeared on Burmese coins, the flag, and stamps but it has also become a symbol of national pride, resistance, and democracy, which is apt for a bird which is as fierce as it as beautiful."
    Equipment used: Sony AX53.
