This is incredible. The footage of the Newport Bridge was taken just literally days after my family and I emigrated to Australia. These images are exactly as I remember my home down nearly 23 years later and they are the very streets I used to play in and walk to school down. The white van at 16:32 is on the corner where my Nan used to live! So many memories just came flooding back. Thank you for putting this up.

Charlie browns tyres ,exhausts, batteries and basic services, used to do a £14.99 deal on oil n filter changes ,and the little petrol station was always the cheapest per litre in the area -Charlie browns has stood empty for donkey's years -great footage

The shops on the corner of Fagg Street bring back some memories from when I attended Mill Lane School, infants and juniors until 1966 . The first was Peter Trevors, a newsagent/tobacconist who also sold Dinky cars, I remember he had the display with all 75 vehicles on it which I desperately wanted. Next to that was a sweet shop which was run by 2 elderly ladies, and them the next 2 were 1 big shop that originally sold clothes, but was changed into a pet shop. The shop on the corner of Dixon Street was a general store that seemed to sell everything that you could ever need.

So nostalgic. Born in that end of town at what was the Robson Maternity Home, turned into the Stork Hotel (I think). Mickey Walsh used to cut my hair in his wee shop. My mam used to work at the Classic Cinema (pictured as a Cannon cinema in this vid). We lived in Gayles Street (long demolished) outside toilet etc. Moved to Hardwick when I was about five, went to English Martyrs Primary, then Our Lady and St Bedes. Good times, for the most part.

Stockton on Tees looking like it's just about to piss down again. Rain, rain, go away, come back another day. Thornaby is more sunny. But you get dazzled and step out into the road.

1989 was the most depressing year in the entire history of humanity. In terms of St Life and bar life and nightlife. And sex life. And the music? It was fucking shit.

Superb video! Well worth seeing Newport bridge open. Also interesting to see Portrack Incinerator briefly on there as well next to Newport bridge. Do you by any chance have any video of Portrack Incinerator being demolished?

I remember all this on all 3 vids mate including the little video shop opposite Wrensfield road all those houses were flooded in 2012 where you suggest going to the station and pass the white van. Those to girls in part 2 seem familiar I used to life in elm house by princess street. That house on the right hand corner has gone see the timer at 6 .33 minsHills opposite the demolished tilery have also gone too

    Hello
Here at Ricochet we're producing a new series for the BBC entitled 'Family Finders' where we follow the stories of successfully reunited family members. One of our contributors comes from Stockton on Tees and we would love to illustrate his memories with some footage from this film? Might this be possible? If so might you be able to get in touch with me at Ricochet on 'cath.pick@ricochet.co.uk'- many thanks for reading! Cath
