      @Joe B Your over-generalization is not convincing. Supersedes in what aspect? Supersedes in reverence? Certainly. Supersedes in the effect of consecrating the Eucharist? Not at all. The Mass itself (i.e. representation of the sacrifice of Calvary) is of equal value, since it is the same sacrifice in substance. The liturgical rite, however, is not. There is not a single dogma defined that all liturgical rites themselves are of the same value. Heresy is by definition, the contradiction to defined dogma. The thought that the Tridentine Roman Rite is superior to the Novus Ordo Roman Rite as a liturgical rite, cannot be heresy at all, since it is not even doctrinal.

    • @larryjohnwong
      @larryjohnwong Před 2 lety +1

      @@thomast8553 The Cross is a bittersweet topic. Yes, it is glorified, but it is glorified because of the most sorrowful Passion of the Lord. I think Mass setting like Messe sollennelle in C# minor by Louis Vierne is more suitable. The Kyrie sounds very solemn, the organ is playing and there is the Gloria so it's not a penitential season setting, but it still shows the seriousness of the subject. The Cross is no light thing afterall.

    Bishop Perry made a lot of mistakes. He should take a lesson from Cardinal Raymond Burke. Now there’s no reason for all you people out there. To criticize what im saying. And to personally attack me. Though I don’t really care what people think. I’m sure he’s a good bishop though. But if he’s going to be the celebrant. Of the beautiful traditional form of the mass. He should really do it right. Anything less is an insult to the Holy Catholic Church.

      PFP Billtown I would much rather have the priest with a backwards alb than all of the liturgical abuses that come with the novus ordo mass. The sacrileges of and disbelief in the Eucharist is an abomination that often comes with the novus ordo mass. If you ask me (a lay man with no authority) the mistakes done by this bishop are not liturgical abuses. Whereas the mass of Paul VI often is irreverent and brings with it liturgical abuses particularly to the blessed sacrament. Both masses are valid. Just a layman’s opinion.

    • @larryjohnwong

      Having the alb put backwards is better than having the entire Mass celebrated backwards. If an alb irritates you, you would faint whenever you see versus populum.

    I was brought up in a catholic family, went to catholic schools, attended weekly mass. I was born in a pre vatican 2 period, and was happy to see wat joice the vatican 2 reform brought to the celebration of the mass, as it should be, a feastive occasion amongst the faithful, as Jesus meant the Eucharist to be. What I saw here is a celebration by one single person, of the male gender, being assisted by a deacon, a sub deacon, lots of alter servers, all dressed in expensive cloathing. The faithful are physically separated from the high altar, as if they are unworthy to gather around the feastive table. Is this reallly what Jesus meant it to be? Not the form is essential, the contence is. In this mass I never experienced the presence of Our Lord.

    • @jumven
      @jumven Před 6 lety +17

      So today when you attend mass, you all people gather around the altar where a female presides the Eucharist unassisted by acolytes or deacons and all dressed to go to the market because they are worthy to feast around the table. Because this form, this way, IS essential. While the others are not. Very inclusive and open, the real charitable Christian way, huh?

    • @mosesking2923
      @mosesking2923 Před 6 lety +24

      You were probably never actually a Catholic to begin with. The mass is not supposed to be "fun." It's a solemn ritual, not a protestant worship concert. Also, the faithful are separated because they are not worthy to be at the altar. The altar is where the transubstantiation occurs. Laity should not be anywhere near it. And women should not be altar servers, deacons, or priests. The place of women is in the home to raise children, not to teach in the Church.
