Incredible skate by Liz Manley ! I get goose bumps every time I have watched this, which has been many times over the years and to think it was 33 yrs. ago ( feels like it was just yesterday ) that she skated this absolutely amazing and in my opinion one of the greatest olympic long programs of all time.
Yay! I've been searching for years to find the CTV version. To listen to Johnny, Brian and Debbie call this night was incredible. "OOO! She did it! ... Ah, again!" :) "This is the one we were waiting for!" YES!
Katerina Witt won the gold, she had more accumulated points....but my take is that this was the best performance; Elizabeth did the dance of her life, and on home soil....Brava !!
@@robertrusnov3190 Well probably the fact Witt should have been third in the free skate actually is what cost Liz the gold. Ito should have been second and that would give OGM to Manley.
She won the free skate. But her weaker performance in the compulsory figures test prevented her stunning victory in the free skate from delivering her the gold medal.

Amazing performance. I watch this when I want to be inspired. Manley and Ito had the best programs of the evening, in my opinion.

I remember this and was so happy for her - they doubled her until she won that medal!!
I don't remember the one who won the gold. But I sure remember her for giving it all she had. For that one night I was a Canadian.
