Great video. Trying other civil war recipes may be a good idea.
That’s the idea! I like to cook and remaking historical dishes is really fun! People also really seem to like them!

@@SaintAndrewTV Happy New year brother! God bless ya 🙏
@@nickbrackett9023 appreciate it, brother! Be safe!
Merry Christmas Andrew!
Now that's something that I could sink my teeth into. Long ago, when in a Confederate infantry reenactment unit, we'd cook this, and included some bits of beef jerky. Was pretty tasty as I recall.
Enjoy your holidays and always shoot straight!
Your Texas amigo, Wade
I bet that would be delicious! I also thought about it with some egg or potatoes! I also didn’t expect the hellfire stew to be that good plain! Have a great holiday, Wade! Be safe!
Merry Christmas and YUMMMMMMM!!!!
Thank you! Have a safe one!

Naming a dish “Hellfire” in an era when Christianity was taken with deadly seriousness and “hell” a cuss word nearly as unacceptable as the “F” word is rather ominous.
Could you do more recipes from the old west?
Absolutely!
May I ask where you got your hat and also the style name? I've been wearing an El Dorado for quite a while and would like to switch it up. Ciao!
Hello there! This was a clearance rack find from River Junction Trading Company! I flattened out the brim over a tea kettle! Then added the band. The other one you could look at is the Texas style from the same manufacturer and the variant is called “High Noon”. Same 4 1/2” telescopic crown, but you will need to flatten the brim on that one as well if you want it to be similar to mine! Hope this helps!
Why was it called hellfire stew?
I’m not entirely sure, but “hellfire” biblically means damnation and to *exist in hell*. Which the civil war was a brutal war, so maybe something like that?
where could i get that cup??
Get lucky and find one at an antique store! Haha
I'm English and would like to know what grits are, l hear it mentioned in a lot of westerns lve read, usually bacon and grits, or hominy grits?
I thought maybe they were beans of some type, but l think I've seen beans and grits so thats likely not right. 🤔
Grits are usually a porridge made out of corn meal. Usually eaten for breakfast with butter and sugar.
@@deniskozlowski9370 ah, thanks, would never have guessed that. Much Obliged.
Ground up corn usually. Hominy is also an option. I know they’re really cheap and hardy, so probably pretty common on the frontier!
