Whats your ultimate perfect munchies food?
It's not often that I get them, but somehow I'm thinking potato chips.
Doner kabab and chicken pakora.
Chips(fries), with taco fried mince in taco sauce and garlic sauce covered in melted cheddar cheese. Cant have it all the time, but good god I want to!
A buffalo chicken sandwich 😋
I haven’t gotten stoned in a while (one of the downsides of living in a state where it’s illegal 🤬) but after watching the full reaction, I had a hankering for Taco Bell, so I’m going with that lol
This is the role that rejuvenated Neil Patrick Harris career.
For real? I thought it was himym. Im too high to google that now tbh.
@@nealcaffrey541 this was before HIMYM. They even got roles in that show as well
Nope, NPH has had steady work every year since he started in 1988, most of the times he's not in movies he's on Broadway. Guy works more than most actors.
@@dandoll4405 Randomly is really into 3D printing lately. He's made several appearances on 3D Printing Nerd's channel.
@@dandoll4405 A rejuvenated career is not the same as a steady one
Neil Patrick Harris is in this playing this version of himself as a favor to him by the director Danny Leiner. He had a reputation as a choir boy and was typecast because of that, so this was an attempt to get rid of it. It worked. Just weeks after this came out he landed a part in How I Met Your Mother that he freely admits he never would've gotten without this appearance
This role really was an unrated version of Barney Stinson 😂
@@sean_mccadden
Le.....gen.....wait for it....DARY
Yeah, seeing him since then as Barney and other roles, it's not quit as funny as when this came out and seeing him like that given his image at the time. It was like Wayne Brady on The Chappelle Show.
@user-qv1ox4cs4m Leh gend, wait for it! And I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the last word is dairy! LEGENDARY! 😂🤣
@@Logan_Baron "I'm NPH B***H!! HAHA!!"
Clipped out one of my favorite lines in the whole movie where they are leaving the apartment and Kumar realizes he left his phone halfway down the hall and Harold says to go back and get it and he looks down the hallway at the door and says "no. we've gone too far."
Most relatable line ever...
To this day, I’ll use that line in similar situations.
Classic.
This feels like an ADHD thing to me, once I finally get started, I DO NOT want to stop or backtrack.
I use that line so much in my day to day life, also "the things I wld eat out of her azz"
“you’re glistening” “Bullets, my only weakness” “EXTREME”
This movie gave my friends and I so many lines that we still use today.
I randomly quote bullets my only weakness to this day.
"But, why?"
@@jakehodgson82 same
Actually the line is Bullets, my only weakness. How do you know? I quote that line for a long time
Neil Patrick Harris is so essential to this whole trilogy.
One of those movies where you forget just how incredibly funny it is until you rewatch it. I don't want to spoil the sequels, but they're just as good (for the most part) and are worth it for the cameos alone.
This was called "Harold And Kumar Get The Munchies" internationally, as White Castle is a US brand, and unknown of in a lot of the rest of the world.
Ya had never heard that. It’s just White Castle here.
It's also pretty unknown in the south, we had Krystal's. Still my 10 year old self didn't have trouble figuring out White Castle was a food place, it makes it pretty clear in the poster, trailer, and movie.
I'm from france, here they called the movie "Harold And Kumar chase the burger"
Note: the prices for those burgers are realistic, because White Castle has a unique take on the concept of "burger". They basically came up with the most efficient and cheapest way to mass-produce small burgers, thus the squareness of the patties - and while you can't see it in the movie, those patties have holes poked in them to avoid the need to flip them on the steamer. The end product tastes different enough from what you'd expect from a typical hamburger that either you love it or you hate it. Either way, you can buy the same mass of food for less money.
Literal steamed hams.
they used to be that cheap, now the burgers are at least almost 2 bucks each!!🤨
White Castle could never be considered good food, but it is *spectacular* bad food.
@@youtmeme Not sure where you live, but near me a cheese slider is $1.11 and original (no cheese) is $0.91. Yeah it's more expensive, but not $2 each.
@@AdamLaMore probably Vegas prices
Herald and Kumar is a trilogy, it's Harold and Kumar Go to White castle, Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo bay, and a very Herald and Kumar Christmas.
This movie's part of a trilogy and you two should watch them! Harold & Kumar Escape Guantanamo Bay, and A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas! You'll love the continuity!
Yes....
Great trilogy
The Bobby Lee and George similarity didnt even cross my mind until he said that🤣
I miss Fred Willard.. I first knew his acting in a serious role and yet since that one I've seen him in nothing but comedies.. Brilliantly funny guy.
I got a real red wagon!
And he usually would play the straight man.
@@jbo4547 I can't do my work!
First thing I ever saw Fred Willard in was a comedy adventure movie called Silver Streak with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. The entire thing takes place aboard a train made to resemble an Amtrack. Great film. I saw it in the theater when it came out and you really need to check it out. Fred is in the last 15 minutes of it, but his character is very important.
@@candicelitrenta8890 I didn't know he was in that film! That's cool. The first thing I recognised him in was Salem's lot but I then saw him in Roxanne and it was comedies from then on..
george's laugh at the police sketches... perfect.
This movie showed me that Christopher Meloni is a comedic genius. I only knew him from Law & Order before this.
I believe he's in the 2nd one too.
I'd say Van Wilder is another comedy from this era with a similar cast that is equally as fun
Yes, but it was your typical “dirty gross out” humor though
@@nsasupporter7557 and this wasn't?
loved Van Wilder 😂
Van Wilder is loosely based on comedian Bert Kreischer. Rolling Stone did an article to find the biggest partier, at the biggest party school, and everyone told them to go find Bert.
It's funny how Ryan Reynolds and Kal Penn alternated who was a bigger star for a second there.
I took a playwriting class my sophomore year of high school and one of the assignments was to break down the hero's journey in a given book or movie. A lot of my classmates immediately went to Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. I chose this film :) H&KGtWC is truly the greatest quest story ever told!
I remember when I realized Freakshow was Christopher Meloni I nearly died laughing.
I was scrolling to see if anyone was going to mention the horrific yet brilliant performance by Christopher Meloni. He was strictly known as this dramatic actor from Oz and Law & Order: SVU that no one had a clue he could play such broad and oozy comedy!
Honorable Mention to Malin Akerman as his wife. She’s very funny here.
I know right! I was just about to say that… I was completely blown when I learned that that was Christopher Meloni lol 😂
@@Divamarja_CA I was a huge fan of Wet Hot American Summer where he was the camps cook with a lot of weird habits, so I was definitely aware he could be funny as hell, but it was just realizing he was under all that crap hamming it up.
This was my favorite movie when it came out. I named my puppy Harold until we realized it was a girl.. So she became Maria! RIP Maria!
Ryan Reynolds in a role with a similar feel, and also starring Kal Penn, is Van Wilder. Which coincidently, I was today years old when I discovered that it is based on a college article about Bert Kreischer 🤯
"I have cats" 😏
"today years old"
Yes Van Wilder was a great movie. It was your typical “gross out, dirty” humor but still a great movie
That comedian at Princeton is Bobby Lee. his podcasts are hilarious.
Little behind the scenes fun fact - during this movie, Bobby Lee asked one of the staff members for Advil because he had a headache. When the guy showed up to his trailer, he started doing a goofy Asian accent, thinking it was funny "Ohhhh Mr. Reeeee!" not knowing that John Cho was using Bobby's bathroom...
John came out and said "you ever do that again, and I'll make sure you never work in this industry again."
White Castle was the first known and oldest fast food restaurant in the world founded in the early 1920s. It's a Northern United States company. During the Great Depression the company thrived due to it's small and affordable slider burgers. The equivalent known here in the Southern States is the fast food chain known as Krystals. Due to the success of White Castle during the early days of the Great Depression in the late 1920s the fast food chain Krystals was born. It was a company made to serve cheap and affordable food to those with very little money during the time. They both serve similar slider burger but they're 2 separate companies owned by separate people. Also they may look the same they sliders taste different. White Castle is buns are a little denser than White Castle with a slight sweeter taste. While Krystal sliders are more on the savoy side of taste.
Interesting piece of history, thanks for the share!

It is tradition in my house to binge watch all 3 H&K Movies around Christmas Time every year, as it ends with Christmas.
I hope you guys will watch them fairly close together. 😁
OMG same here. Just rewatched all 3 2 months ago.
6:26 The part where they see Katie Holmes' hooters in the movie 'The Gift' is hilarious because back then they said exactly what we were all thinking in the theatre with the "Those aren't real.......yes they are!" line lol. Nobody ever thought a sweet little innocent looking actress such as her would ever show them lol.
BTW, 'The Gift' is a pretty decent flick overall you should check out one day.
Love that movie. Sam Raimi directed. Great cast. I think the only Keanu Reeves played a bad guy.
@@reesebn38 I know of at least one other film he played the 'cheating on his wife' kind of bad guy but The Gift IMO he played his part superbly.
@@AdamtheGrey02 I've never seen him play a bigger asshole. Great cast in The Gift.
@@reesebn38 Agreed.
"Come on Pookie! Let's burn this mother down!"
I love all the cameos in H&KgtWC! Anthony Anderson is my fave next to Malin Akerman of course 😅
I hate to admit it, but White Castle burgers are delicious. The finely chopped onions really make those little sliders pop 🤤
That gif of him saying this quote is my go-to response to any late-stage capitalism headline
George's expressions during the Freakshow's wife scene... priceless! So funny when he snapped out of it when he realised he was just about drooling on camera 🤣
I live 4 blocks from a White Castle in New York City, tucked away in Manhattan. It's 24-hours, and yes it looks like a little castle. And oh I'm so happy it's there. Cheeseburgers, fries, and chicken ring sandwiches with cheese - gotta have 'em.
P.S. "Fur burgers." Hahaha
Asian dude on screen: her: "OMG I know him!" - him(bored): "is it me?" - PERFECTION!
Really hope you guys have plans to watch the other two! The 2nd one is probably my favorite of the bunch. Mostly because of Rob Corddry's role. He's so ridiculous and great in it.
Me and my friends used to watch this movie so often we eventually convinced ourselves to do a White Castle adventure. Drove over an hour, got as fried as a goose and ended up with a story that was more than worth what the two crave cases of sliders did to our stomachs
GEORGE & SIMONE: On the DVD if you put it in but DON'T press play, Harold converses with Kumar, who talks sh*t about you, minute after minute. It's awesome!
When this came out, it was crazy… but years after it is now considered the definitive and iconic stoner comedy.
The definitive stoner comedy is up in smoke. This is the defining movie for its era.
@@Stevie8654 yeah, nothing will ever replace Up in Smoke. Cheech & Chong play high better than anyone, and the writing and plot is as close to "high" a story can be.
Besides the Cheech and Chong films, I'd consider Half Baked to be the definitive stoner film, but Harold and Kumar and How High are definitely right there..
7:00 “Is it me?” 😂😂😂 someone finally said it. Bobby Lee’s long lost twin
Yesss, such a fun reaction. I love watching comedies with you guys. Sometimes your reactions are more entertaining than the movie itself, but I enjoyed this thoroughly. Gotta check out the sequel, too.
No worries, Simone. When I finally got to have real White Castle in 2019 (you can get frozen microwaveable sliders in most US grocery stores, but it is a primarily East Coast chain), they had Impossible sliders.
I haven't seen it in a long time, but my guess is that the second H&K holds up about as well as this one.
Also, if either of you have ever watched "Law & Order: SVU," Freakshow was played by Lt. Stabler, Christopher Meloni.
The second one isn't really very funny. The only thing I remember is the awful George W. Bush impression.
They sell frozen Whitecastle burgers where Simone lives, I've seen then myself.
Mosty around Ohio. There are very few on the East coast.
So you can get diarrhea without even having to eat meat? Count me in!
There are other (primarily regional) chains that sell essentially the same burgers. I went to Krystal many times when I lived in Georgia, and growing up in Maryland there was a chain called Little Tavern which sadly shut down.
The trick with any of them is that they're only edible when you are massively drunk and/or stoned. And the frozen ones are nowhere near the same.
@@Koofteh I've watched all 3 recently, the second one has higher highs but lower lows, basically the funniest jokes in 2 are the funniest in the trilogy, but the bad jokes in 2 are the worst. 2 is the worst as I'd go 1, 3, 2 but 2 is still a good watch
My favorite cameo has to be Christopher Meloni ( Law&Order SVU ) as Freakshow.
"Would you like to play battleshits" lady is a Canadian actress, and she did some popular tictac commercials a few years before this film.
The movies get progressively crazier and crazier. I love the series.
Let’s hear it for Harold & Kumar 2!
12:25
Freakshow is Christopher Meloni (Elliot Stabler from Law & Order SVU)
Kal Penn is actually vegetarian. There's quite a bit of solid background talent in this movie; Bobby Lee, Jamie Kennedy, Ryan Reynolds, Smart Brother from Undercover Brother, Chris Meloni (Freakshow), Malin Ackerman, Fred Willard, Anthony Anderson, David Krumholtz, Eddie (edited) Kaye Thomas, NPH, Ethan Embry, etc.
Eddie Kaye Thomas
I've waited so long for one of my subscribed channels to watch this. Definitely feels underrated in my opinion, despite being turned into a trilogy.
Other than being a stoner movie and one of the first Asian-American led feature comedies, this was also an ode to New Jersey. I kept thinking, "I know that spot!" I've eaten at the White Castle in New Brunswick that was supposedly replaced many times too!
Simone and George just made my day. One of my favorite comedies ever. You guys gotta react to the sequels.
SIMONE & GEORGE: NO other hamburger is like a White Castle hamburger, freshly made at a White Castle. Totally serious. And they are melt-in-your-mouth AMAZING! There are WC's in selected areas in the Eastern US and Arizona and Las Vegas. Their website has a WC store locator. 😋
This was the best movie in the franchise. The others tried hard to try and recapture the magic but it was obvious they were trying too hard. The first one had that randomness that makes it wonderful
I don't remember remember much about any sequels but in general I really hate how follow up movies do that. They see the popularity of the first movie and then try to cash in on it without coming up with any sort of story or working on the jokes or anything. They just do the exact same thing but even more extreme than the first one. "Well, the first one was gross so let's make this one SUPER gross! Show me the money, baby!!" I always hated that about long-running shows/movies where the characters basically just become exaggerations of their original characters because people always believe you have to make it bigger and "better". Either that or the writers aren't really all that good and they just got really, really lucky the first time around.
I still love the closing credits scenes in the second one, but otherwise it was disappointing.
yeah i felt the same, but after rewatching the 2nd one it does somewhat hold up still..its the christmas one that i remember being a waste of time lol
I liked the second one, it wasn’t too bad but yea the first has its own feeling
@@MysterClark I liked all 3. The guys have great chemistry. NPH get funnier each time. The Unicorn bit is my fav. The Bush thing in the second one is funny. The 3rd I watch every Xmas. But what do I know I'm a stoner.
I remember renting this (yes rent as in blockbuster) as a complete shot in the dark with my friends and it's still considered one of the greatest blind picks any of us ever made
Stuck in a Utah truck stop while watching this, I took it upon myself to research your question. Since I don't know your address I made some guesses. The nearest White Castle from Vancouver is located in Nevada. It's a 19 hour and 40 minute drive. Hope that helps.
There's a meme of Ryan Reynolds wearing scrubs and saying "but why?". I've been racking my brain for ages trying to figure out what it was. All I could think of that he was in at this age was Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place. Maybe Van Wilder. But neither of those had him in scrubs. Thanks for helping me remember.
I'd love for you guys to react to the sequel - Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay!
George: "What!? 70 burgers is $46!?" Yeah, that's the sound of someone who's never been to a White Castle. That needs to be remedied, like now.
Now, to be fair, there aren't any White Castle restaurants in Canada. Some markets up there do sell the frozen microwavable sliders, but those just aren't the same.
Also got to keep in mind that we're talking about a film that's nearly 20 years old, and George is likely not taking into account USD versus CAD.
Nowadays a Crave Case (30 sliders with cheese) sets you back $33.
All that being said, I think a road trip for these two might be in order depending on where they are in proximity to the closest one.
I freaking love this movie so damn much. It's the definition of a FUN movie. There are so many recognizable faces in this. One that's often overlooked is Christopher Meloni (Stabler from Law & Order SVU) as 'Freakshow'. That part of the movie was always insanely funny to me.
I saw this in theaters high as balls and everyone in that place went to White Castle afterwards. It was a great experience.
That was a great reaction! Hope you guys do part 2, it's just as good as this one. Peace!
Ok, one of the funniest things thats ever happened in a public bathroom.. me and my friend were at Guitar Center and we both had to drop a deuce. The bathroom was laid out kinda oddly but it was a nice bathroom. The stalls were all separate from each other. So we are, you know, doing what the room is meant for. But we decided to start rating each others sonic reports, 10 being the highest. All of a sudden there was a massive blast. I laughed and said 'whoa! that was at least an 8', my friend goes 'uh... that wasnt me'. Awkward silence.... then a timid voice from across the room goes 'it was me'. Dead silence the rest of the visit.
It needs noting that Freakshow is played by Christopher Meloni of Law and Order SVU fame. Despite being known for super serious roles, Meloni's an amazing comic actor. I'd also recommend Wet Hot American Summer as a great comedy with him...and almost every other comic actor from the last 20 years in it.
I forgot to mention that Kal Penn doesn't eat meat so they made his burgers out of veggies. So yes Simone they made veggie sliders before lol.
So good! You guys should watch the Christmas one, it’s great! Two of my favorite movies to watch when I’m away from my kiddos lol.
OMG another classic. I always watch this (and How High-please react!!!) once a year. Both amazing. H&K 2 is also amazing 👏 😍 🙌
Love the Bill Burr Shout-out, "Slowly back up, as you push your friend forward" 😀
This is the role that got NPH the role of Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother. And we all know that was absolutely legend- wait for it- dary!
Great reaction CineBinge! This movie is a classic for sure! Hopefully, in the near future, you can react to Harold and Kumar escape from Guantanamo Bay! It's also a hilarious film! The bathroom scene was hilarious! So random!
Please please please watch waiting from around the same time as this “also has Ryan Renalds in it” brings very similar energy 😄👌🏻
I’ve been yelling “is this your special bush?!” Ever since this movie came out 😂
King of the forest
Omg I loved these movies growing up👌🔥 can’t believe y’all reacted to this🤝 hopefully y’all watch more. Harold and Kumar are legends.👌
Please react to Harold and Kumar 2: Escape from Guantanamo Bay 🙏
Fun fact: The creepy tow truck driver is played by Christopher Meloni, who is probably best known as Detective Elliot Stabler from Law & Order: SVU.
Careful. Last time I asked “I wonder where the nearest White Castle is…” I ended up driving to Las Vegas Strip from 2 states away.
Watch the sequel, Escape from Guantanamo Bay. Fun fact: Chris Meloni from the tv show Law and Order: SVU plays Freakshow.
I love this movie. to this day whenever anyone does something questionable I respond exactly like Ryan "But Why?"
I had the dvd and the menu was hilarious. it starts with them excited to be on dvd and then they become increasingly impatient as you don't pick any options.
I miss DVDs for this reason. So many fun things people did with the menu. I was just showing my daughter how to find the hidden special extended cut of Terminator 2 on the DVD and she thought it was pretty cool there were hidden things to find.
I can't wait for you two to watch the sequel! The OMG Counter will skyrocket! ❤
Simone, being a fellow Canadian, I'd figure you would know everything about Ryan Reynolds. 😀 He's been around a while and acting since he was a teen. His first TV role was in 1991.
Will you be reacting to the 2nd movie
This movie was great when it came out but the sequel is soo much funnier.
Fun fact; the guy that plays Freakshow in this is Christopher Meloni, the man who plays Stabler on Law & order SVU.
Simone: I know that guy!
George: Is it me?
OMG 😆🤣😂😅😆🤣😂🤣
What a great reaction to such an offbeat, funny movie!
I forgot how freakin hilarious this movie is! I’m sure others have pointed it out but Freakshow was played by an uncredited Christopher Meloni. Oz, SVU and then Harold and Kumar! Lol
He was in the sequel as well. He was great in both
" This your bush? This your special BUSH? " is my favorite line in this movie lol
Neil Patrick Harris reprises his role as himself in A Harold And Kumar Christmas, which is just as good as the original.
My favorite moment in this movie is the "I don't feel like getting stabbed tonight". A moment everyone has experienced once in their life.
Many years ago, my friend's bachelor party was a paintball tournament and then going to get a "sack o' burgers" from the White Castle in Cherry Hill. Good times.
The *EXTREME* song they were singing along to in the stolen truck was "Hold On" by Wilson Phillips.
The funny thing is that there is no White Castle in Cherry Hill. It had to be custom built.
Ideal munchie food: Homemade pub nachos.
-Line a 8"x8" cake pan with parchment paper
-Add a quarter bag of cafe-style [extra thick] flour tortilla chips
-Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of shredded cheese (mex blend if you can get it)
-Spoon half a can of chilli on top
-[Optional] Sprinkle with sliced jalapenos
-Another 1/2 cup of cheese
-Bake in oven for ~8 minutes, or until cheese starts to brown at edges
-Cool for 5-10 minutes
-Spoon ~1/4 cup of sour cream on top
-Serve immediately
Neil Patrick Harris also shows up in both sequels.
Actually fun trivia, Kal Penn is a vegetarian and they had to give him veggie sliders for the film. Eventually White Castle does offer a veggie option last time I checked.
The guys who wrote this movie also created Cobra Kai on Netflix and have a new show Obliterated on Netflix that was #1 in the world. They also wrote and directed American Reunion , the fourth American Pie movie.
This is my favorite representation of Asians.
Not shying away from the stereotypes but they subvert it so well, both Harold and Kumar went to Princeton, one is the whole Asian father wanta them to be a doctor trope and the other in finance.
But that isn’t *all* who they are.
As an Asian stoner who went to one of those schools fucking love this film
One of my favourite comedies of the century (possibly all-time), and this reaction was spectacular. You guys are The Best. 👍✌❤
Y’all seriously gotta watch the second one also, to me it’s my favorite. And the third one is really special also, has a Christmas theme ❤️
Never matters how many times I’ve seen these two movies they never get old.
The purpose of opening scene with Harold's boss is to serve as a sort of bait and switch on the formula of who the main characters in this kind of movie would have been normally. Two white guys with pretty good jobs going on a "raunchy" adventure to fix one guys broken heart and finding new love in the process. The point is really hammered in by having the broken hearted guy being played by "Can't Hardly Wait"s Ethan Embry. A lot of the early parts of the movie before they set off on their adventure are playing on the idea that the leads aren't supposed to be the main characters. Its answering the question of "what did that guy at the beginning of the movie end up doing?"
Great reaction looking forward to the next Harold and Kumar outing 😂👍
"I need to go have food now"
xD was the perfect round off for this reaction
A wild Ryan Reynolds suddenly appears. Also in the Dawn of the Dead remake you asked about the "Down with the Sickness" song. The song was done by a guy named Richard Cheese. He's pretty funny.
Oh and my favorite munchies food are Keto almond butter bars from Cando. Delicious and low in Carbs.
14:43 And this moment is where the resurrection of Neil Patrick Harris' career began.
Yes, White Castle does have plant based sliders at some locations.
According to Google there's no White Castles in Canada but you can get frozen burgers from the grocery store. Otherwise you might want to cross the border, there's plenty in Michigan and Wisconsin
I still can't believe the guy who played freak show the tow truck guy is Christopher Meloni who plays Det. Stabler on Law and Order SVU
There's a sequel to this called 'Searching' where kumar goes missing
