I wish George Orwell's "1984" and "Animal Farm" were both required reading at some point in all US high schools. While I enjoyed "Catcher in the Rye", one of the my required readings, 1984 and Animal Farm taught me so much more, though I didn't learn of them until being an adult.

I was a philosophy major. Since graduating 23 years ago, I’ve seen philosophy and humanities programs slashed and eliminated from universities across the United States. This woman succinctly explains why we must study philosophy.

It was limited to the universities and colleges. Socialism in the American Continent had its origins in NY, OR, WA, and WI as well as MN. We just switched shades of socialism

@Chief Scalpalot One of the biggest lies, still pushed and believed by many, is that nazism and fascism are far right ideologies, despite both being formed by socialists and marxists - far left ideologies. Nazism and fascism are just different flavors of socialism, no different from how Catholicism and Protestantism are different flavors of Christianity. Far more similarities than differences.
