This is why Unicron trilogy, Movie 1 and ROTF are my favorite toy lines. We get characters that never really show up in the shows or movies and it allowed for more creative characters to pop up. Look at the Scout class, some of the best Transformers in my opinion came from that class range. Skystalker being my all time favorite Scout class simply because of his unofficial Metal gear ray mode
Scout class ROCKS
2:21
"This 'con is FORKLIFT CERTIFIED!!!!!"
Meld him into G1 style and make him Devastator's gun.
And have him triple-change into a scorpion. 😜
Hear me out... Make him Devastator's Headmaster
@@adamshafeeq8685 YES
Wreckage was oddly more faithful to G1 Megatron than any of Megatron's movie designs
hasbro needs to fully commit to movie toylines again. the non studio series rotb line was the most barebones thing in existence. we needed our earth mode cliffjumper from bumblebee and ironhide/ratchet from wheeljack
The live-action robot designs are shit. They're like abstract junkyard art that moves. Half the time you can't even tell what they're supposed to turn into. Which is the whole point of a robot in disguise.
@@GladDestronger you mean the old ones right? The reboot verse designs are pretty readable and have character in them
Yes, those ones. 2007 Bumblebee I couldn't even tell what car parts form what on him. By Age of Extinction Prime was worse... I could not see how he turns into a long-nosed semi cab. The designs from Bumblebee Movie & Rise of The Beasts are a lot less cluttered.
@@GladDestronger2007 bee? Now that’s a lot of bull. The ROTB designs are just as complex as that one. You gotta have TRASH VISION to not tell where most of the parts go.
The Michael Bay designs suck pure and simple. The man wouldn't know "realism" if it bit him upside the ass.
Titans Return kinda had the Soundwave minions turn into phones.
I really wish we could get updated toys of characters like Incinerator, Stockade, Wreckage, etc. An updated Skyhammer would go so hard.
Or maybe another Stealth Fighter Megatron.
I appreciate the Wreckage love here. He was my first real Transformer (aside from getting some of the star wars crossover ones) and he is such a special character to me because of that. Seeing Wreckage finally appear in a film would mean the world to me. He also was a great toy, nostalgia aside
I always thought he looked kind of like a Star Wars vehicle himself with his light gray coloring.
Now that Hasbro is doing both concept art stuff and Gamer Edition in Studio Series, there’s no reason they can’t do these. Rumor has it that the MIA Breakaway toy was supposed to be a test for Gamer Edition, but I guess they decided not to do him once they got the go-ahead to do the WFC stuff.
I’m personally really hoping we get those 2007 game drones like Payload, Longarm, Swindle, Scrapper (who Dirt Boss is based on and could definitely be retooled into him), Dropkick, Dreadwing, and Mixmaster. Though ones like Longarm would end up looking more accurate to the games, it would just be so nice to have them (in both their faction appearances).
Shockwave from the same game would be awesome as well, since he’s also a helicopter.
I ABSOLUTELY want a new Biplane transformer, especially since we have an actual IDW character, Anode, who IS a biplane, so you don't even need to be a new Ransack, just be the first Anode!
As long as they make Lug too, I'm in.
After starting my collection of various decepticon movie goons and baddies, I've fallen in love with these one off guys, and have a cool idea for a story with them. I wrote a short story characterizing HFTD Axor as mimicking a rotting corpse and being a mockery of living creatures, one of my favorite things I've written.
Terradive is absolutely one of my favourite movie toys. I also have the Space Case retool and I position them with their spears out to opposite sides like temple guards.
Movie Wreckage is pretty much the king example of not only what the Bayverse designs *Should* have been, but I also genuinely feel this should have been our Bayverse Megatron. I mean look at him, he has the bucket head, and even still has a big gun barrel on him, albeit relocated. Wreckage is just a glimmer of what could have been, and it makes me so mad that's not what we got on the screen.
Dang, now I can't unsee it!
The reason they didn’t use Arcee in 07 was that Micheal Bay didn’t like her so in ROTF he wanted her to die so he can’t use her. If you don’t believe you can look it up.
Good Michael bay I bet he ruined her too
No she wasn't used because she was too small and they needed to explain why there were female transformers.
They are giant robots it is not that hard
@@OldNameGhxst That too.
I'm so glad more people are talking about this topic , and I would suggest TF2 Mindwipe , that cool stealth bomber alt mode and the flawless robot mode, with today's added articulation, would make that figure perfect !
The only toy I got from any of the Transformers movies is Big Daddy. He is a muscle car. Still have him in the package.
Ice Pick too. You don't see a lot of snowmobile transformers
I always loved what the movie lines were capable of when they weren't beholden to the onscreen designs and could make something meant to work as a toy from the start.
4:39
Dirge was in the main ROTF line. Jetblade, his redeco was the one from HFTD.
Dirt Boss definitely needs another go. They could even go full city and do the movie inspired version in a G1 style to complement the constructicons or go full tilt and release him in his “Animated” line style with a bull horn and forklift certificate for affect.
I love how jetfire just basically stomped on Ransack in the ROTF novelization so i like the idea of him being a small toy
Actually- Dirge IS from the ROTF Toyline! Just wanted to correct that!
12:42 she was meant to be movie 1, in place of jazz. Her comic personality was what she was supposed to be. A huntress with a take charge attitude.
As for the lense heads, they are PERFECT for gamer edition. I’ve been saying it since they started it. Even with their involvement in the comics.
I'd always read she was in place of Ironhide, not Jazz.
@@TristenSarelvun Yeah,Bay didn't like arcee and wanted a bigger robot for autobot cast so he replaced arcee with ironhide
@@TristenSarelvun Although jazz's death was originaly supposed to be arcee's.
Let's get that Seaspray they put out for Hunt for the Decepticons back.
IDK why, but I love when Minibots get a size boost. I'd even be kinda okay with this being a leader.
Same. I want their size based on their real vehicles, not their original toy.
Even tho it was a bit corporate to just make shit up to sell more toys based on the current fiction, but I kinda miss and vibe with stuff like this, its just interesting to see characters designed how they would look in a certain era they weren't apart of
My issue with Skyhammer, my _only_ issue, is he doesn't have thigh swivels. If he had that, he'd be amazing.
It's unlikely to ever happen but if they did another Payload it'd be cool if they retooled it into Ratchet and Ironhide, for anyone outside of the UK, who is now thinking, "Why the hell would they ever do that?" In the original run of the Titan Comics Transformers Magazine produced as a companion to the first movie, their exclusive comic strip (as opposed to IDW Reprints) after the first few issues ran a little prequel side story and one immediate aftermaath to mission city strip, they ran a 5 part What If event called Twilight's Last Gleaming, which then spun out into an ongoing until they rebooted the magazine for ROTF. In the latter part of the 5-Part event, Ironhide and Ratchet infiltrate a Decepticon compound by scaning a Payload unit and assuming their vehicle forn.
It's a deep, deep cut that pretty much only british fans circa 07-09 would even have a chance of knowing about, particularly since in the ongoing afterwards they reverted to their previous forms. but it'd still be cool, particularly since it'd be the only time movieverse Ironhide and Ratchet shared a mold.
For some weird reason Im obssesed with the idea of Wreckage being Megatron's son.
Some of these Hasbro can't possibly improve upon with their budgets today, including Dirge and Breakaway. Hey, that rhymed!
The movie Guzzle figure is the only figure that character has gotten since Gen1
One character I would LOVE to see return is Tomahawk. Just a cool looking attack helicopter at a Delxue size.
I came across my childhood copy and it makes me wish Hasbro would just give him some attention. It could be a Spinister repaint and I'll take it as long as they give him those glasses.
My favorite of these was probably HFTD Tomahawk. I love that figure!!
I would love a Dirt Boss toy, especially one based on Animated Dirt Boss's design. He's super unique for Transformer designs, has a lot of character, and is a walking shout out to Gurren Lagann!
Looking back I think I have more nostalgia for these movie no show figures than the ones we saw on screen well that and the weird repaints
This is definitely something I missed from old toylines, and speaking of Gamer edition they can do all the drone base characters including game shockwave if they really wanted to I especially would want a new game accurate swindle car bot.🙏😁
I think this could be a subject that TJ revisits in the future, just focusing on various other lines that had a lot of toy exclusive characters. I personally would love to see his take on this for the Beast Era
Scorn has appeared in the movie series, in Age of Extinction specifically. He wasn’t in The Last Knight, but he did appear in a movie nonetheless.
Yeah.... I'm surprised TJ didn't remember that
Also, Dirge was from the NEST toyline from ROTF. I feel like people forget about NEST due to HFTD. It was my personal favorite toyline
I loved how the toy only characters could veer away from some of the movie aesthetics I didn’t like.
Terrordive looks like the old GI Joe Conquest X-30. So if Hasbro wants to do another Collaborative figure.....
all of them tbh.
people keep saying that bayverse has nothing new to adapt but they're forgetting a bulk of what made the bayverse outside of the movie.
A new Mindwipe without the stupid skis would be nice.
It’s unique and kinda cool how the cockpit turns into blades but I hate how he always looks like he’s in a skiing pose😭
Same here lol. I display him with one of his hands up like he is about to stab someone in the back in cold blood. The fact that they gave him such a flawless vehicle mode that flat as a jet just blows my mind. One of my favorite toy exclusive characters
I really like the movie aesthetics of the Hunt for the Decepticons Seaspray. And, the robot mode really looks like a nice upgrade of the G1 character, with a lot of nods to the classic design, and aspects of real SCUBA divers. But no sign of him in the movies. It could have been really nice to see him in the movies, but the toy is fantastic.
The forklift dude was awesome!!! And what about Real Gear? Those lil dudes were sooooooo cool!!!
My favorite M.T. Is Age of Extinction’s 1-Step Rollbar! 🤩 The White & Purple color scheme is so rare for an Autobot, so it’s unique. Plus, it was sort of hinted at that Shane’s rally car would be a secret Autobot.
If they made a Payload (the armored truck transport) and gave him a different head that wasn't the giant lens face, then I'd be totally down for that.
18:23 Maybe they'd be like minicons or armorizers and connect into Soundwave, rather than the eject gimmick?
Also, make him a stealth bomber still.
Covert operations reporting to "mama bird"
Soundwave turns into a charger that has hook ups for a half dozen phones or devices. Or maybe a charging station that magnetically holds onto a phone (or two). He also has speakers.
Hubcap is one of my favourite Transformers toys ever. :)
Some very good choices here. I haven't got a lot of older movie figures, but one toy line figure i recently got was HFTD Tomahawk. Good condition minus the missiles and launchers.
3:00 One of his redecoes could be a revisit of the Decepticon Laser Rods.
5:05 We did have Deftwing in G2...
9:15 I wound up getting the Drift version of the mould, and while I love its uniqueness, I think the problem is with the awkward transformation; I find it hard to get the arms parts the wing mounting for instance, and the way the legs fold up for copter mode is _weird..._
10:05 He made a better Gears than the Stockade mould, too... And I did actually unscrew the launcher on both of my versions; it pegs into his palm just fine without the screw.
15:25 Payload was awesome. I did wind up gutting the plunger, though, and cutting the grille in half and attaching it to his feet.
18:35 It's no weirder than the little tablets they turned into in Titans Return, which still fit into the boomboxes...
19:25 The redeco of this is basically my near-perfect Bludgeon, which represents his inner robot mode brilliantly.
3:34 he could also be a retool for Anode
I was actually gonna include Hailstorm, Incinerator, and Terradive in an AU as cons stranded on earth.
Also, Combiner Wars Buzzsaw was made into a phone
A leader class wreckage would make a KILLER Megatron
So, no ROTF Bludgeon or Tomahawk? For shame JT. For shame.
Pretty sure I remember TJOmega not liking that Bludgeon, but he is still my favorite Bludgeon.
@NerdRahtio the one that's a samurai robot that turns into a tank? You didn't like that? To each their own, I guess
@@davewaren270I loved it, I fixed my typo. I recall TJOmega not liking it.
As someone that had Hubcap since I was a kid and him being one of my all time favorites (still is after all these years) I would KILL for a new version, CHUG or Studio Series, anything
I'd be happy if they simply gave ROTF Mindwipe and Bludgeon (the Voyager toy) extra articulation for both figures and non rubbery treads for Bludgeon.
18:22 So basically, less clunky versions of the Titans Return cassettes?
Solid case! These were the figures that genuinely added credulity to the Live-Action Movie toy line in the beginning and, as a result, catapulted folks to begin to favour the line even more.
It is rather unlikely that we will get the quality of these designs aptly represented in today's standard retail toys, which gravitate more towards being 'consumables' as opposed to actual collectables. And I have enough YELLOWING in my collection to back that! (While the Takara Wreckage that I got years ago still looks brand-new... not a hint of discolouration, even with active display. That's real quality, my friend...and the 'hand feel' of days yore remains unmatched!]
12:52 I hope we get this version of Arcee in Studio Series.
Well, Slingshot of the Arielbots is a Harrier jet, heh.
I have Hubcap. Didn't know what he was from, but I loved his classic 30s car mode.
Didn't know about that Ransack biplane character. I'd love to have that toy.
The cassette minions as smart phones is a great idea!
I was looking for a comment about G1 Slingshot. I guess TJ forgot about his alt mode, lol.
O think the biggest problem with Skyhammer 's rotors is having them in on his chest make them a target and they are his most essential component.
I could soooo go for a new Incinerator, his alt mode is so cool and the rotot hands are wicked, especially if they were reworked to be 1. Claws 2. Able to fold back and make way for a normal hand and 3. Fold forward for a railgun motif. I imagine him and Wreckage as brothers in arms, maybe a Moive Mayhem Attack Squad.
I got Dark Steel because it was a convertible and my titan masters can fit in the seats. I've been getting into movie transformers, now I have a list of ones I should get.
18:22 got my gears turning and OMG chrome-cart soundwave and chrome book cassette bots
Darksteel would be an easy repaint since they already made a DOTM Sideswipe in Studio Series
Technically Ransack WAS actually in the movie. Simmons shows Sam a bunch of photos of various vehicles that were confirmed to be Cybertronians by Sector 7, that bi-plane was in that stack of photos. Also all of the "Toy-only" movie Transformers were all based on vehicles that were actually in the movies but not all of them were confirmed in those movies to actually be Transformers.
2007 Arcee's vehicle mode was in the movie and she was at one point actually meant to be part of the cast because she was in an old draft of the script and they did design a robot mode for her but she was cut because Micheal Bay said no fembots. Anyway you can still her motorcycle mode being taken by Lennox during the climax of the movie. And I completely agree that her original 2007 design is a lot better than the twisted spine version from RotF who also was barely in the movie and died rather quickly again because Micheal Bay didn't like fembots.
There's also Longarm who even came in a 2 pack with Bumblebee so you can recreate the scene where he tows Bumblebee around in robot mode after getting his legs shot off. Longarm is even repainted to look more accurate to the tow truck Mikaela drives in the movie as if his original release didn't already look enough like that truck on his own.
Stratosphere also comes with a tiny Optimus Prime that can fit inside him to recreate a scene in the movie where he carries Optimus' dead body to Egypt and while he was never officially confirmed in that movie to be a Transformer, he did appear in RotB as an actual Transformer and got to carry Bumblebee's dead body inside him this time and his design is based on the RotF toy so they are meant to be the same character. Honestly I thought this video was going to be about reusing other toy only characters as actual Transformers in future movies like RotB did with RotF Stratosphere.
BTW I have that Wreckage figure and I always thought that should have been Megatron. He looks more like Megatron than the actual Megatron does. He even has the right colors to be Megatron, you don't even need to repaint him. He's got the bucket helmet, he's got the mostly white/light grey body, with a camo pattern now, he's got the red accents in all the right places. You can even mount the weapon on his arm as a fusion cannon. I could also see him as a Warpath repaint just because of the cannon in the middle of his torso but Wreckage just looks like Megatron to me.
For dirt boss, I can only see it working if they do the animated version of the character who is also a forklift, mostly because an anime character who never got a toy send the collectors crazy
Wreckage and Breakaway! My own input, throw in Hailstorm too.
Wreckage should had been Megatron's design.
he has the right colors, right weapons, right head shape, doesn't look like he is made out of scrap metal
Breakaway is cool because he is an Autobot Seeker.
Good show of Bots! I haven’t even seen most of these
Some of these toys did make the IDW and UK tie-in comics and those stories were better than the movies. The toys didn't have to do the walking parts (I swear they used transforming to walk rather than joints to walk) design of the movie designs, so they were allowed to be good toys.
i'd really like to see 07 dropkick again, perhaps with a better weapon than a pair of pliers
Welp, they’ll never do better than TF2 Mindwipe and his little buddy
Longarm not getting homaged using either the T30 Trailcutter/Hoist mold or the Earthrise Hoist mold stings.
Come to think of it, there could be a whole Walmart-exclusive capsule line based around the toyline-only lads and lasses. Here’s my pitch:
DELUXE
ROTF Smokescreen (repaint of SS-09 Jazz)
HFTD Terradive (retool of Evolution Needlenose; given Legacy Knock Out’s trident)
07 Breakaway (repaint of United Cybertron Hot Shot; saving ROTF Breakaway for Studio Series proper)
DOTM Guzzle (retool of United Quake with a new head)
DOTM Blaster (retool of SS DOTM Soundwave; yes, it’s based on the canned retool that was shown off at Pete’s RoboCon back in 2017)
VOYAGER
07 Longarm (heavy retool of SS-99 Battletrap that cuts most of the edge)
07 Nightwatch Optimus Prime (repaint of movie 1 SS)
LEADER
07 Evac (retool of SS Grindor with new head)
I do have some of these toys in my collection, like Breakaway, Darksteel, Arcee and Wreckage, but I think that Air Raid (the green electronic war plane) should have a new toy as well, Voyager class at least, he's one of my favorites. And maybe get another go at Salvage, the red pick-up truck.
I had Jetblade and Long Arm, regrettably I had to sell them because I don’t have any more space on my shelves.
Dirt Boss is such a cool name, on th same level as The Motormaster
Striker and mind wipe should be done with a GI joe crossover, and have them transform into the Cobra Raven with its drone. As for all the other toys, they are good because Bay had nothing to do with them
I still have Hailstorm, he’s missing the missiles.
YES, BREAKAWAY! I'd adore a MP-scale version, since I got so much nostalgia for the X360 RotF game. Jetfire and Windblade can't do all the heavy lifting, flight-wise.
Let’s have hasbro remake them again in studio series
How about Soundwave as an older Game Console with cartridges?
I have always wanted to grab the Machine Wars Starscream repaint of Terrordive but haven’t due to price
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a rerelease of Generations Laserbeak.
I hope we get a Transformers Studio Series Long Arm.
Some of these could be go bots , since they are using the gobot names now
Airhammer stands our because Dark of the Moon was filled to the brim with bloody cars. All those Wreckers nobody cared about, the five different versions of Bumblebee, even Megatron was a truck....A copter with a more traditonal robot head stood out. Sometimes I just get tired of all the modern cars.
I love a lot of your picks, I'd like to mention Human Alliance Basic Icepick! We don't get snowmobiles enough and I love the hockey goalie design.
Dirt boss has a 💩 vehicle mode for an Autobot let alone a Decepticon. But I wouldn't mind it in a dark warehouse chasing some humans around.💀👀
We need more classic cars NOW
I concur sir! I have Ransack and love him, Have the Black Starscream TerraDive repaint and love it, Don't have a Powerdive but want it! Those other core class sized guys are awesome as well.
I just Hope we get a repaint of studio series sideways as rotf dead-end
I want the hunt for the decepticons toyline and reveal the shield so i can get hailstorm, lugnut and Seaspray
They used skyhammer as drifts helicopter mode in age of extinction
I would love to see a new Breakaway
I'd love a new ROTF Stratosphere
Would love to get Wreckage, but he always misses the blades when I find him.
Mindwipe needs proper hands and better articulation on the arms
SS breakaway would be great!
So many great scouts that definitely would be great to see upgraded/re-done in the Legacy line. Skystalker and Sunspot would be my scout picks. DEFINITELY Mindwipe as my voyager pick and 07 Movie Leader Megatron cyber-jet mode.
i hope Hasbro hears these ideas, some awesome picks T.J.. :)
Me personally think it would be cool to get a mudflap and skids icecream truck would be cool at voyager that breaks into two deluxe class bots plus soundwaves cassettes could be cell phone power banks or usb ports or mini tablets
