Malwarebytes gives you all the essentials you would want from Antivirus, but Bitdefender offers even more. It has a social network protection that helps to avoid malicious links and scams spreading through social media messages. Overall, when it comes to Malwarebytes vs Bitdefender total security features comparison, I have to say that Bitdefender wins this one. Whether I compare the basic or premium plans, it just has more to offer and less is not more, in this case.

🔒Which has better protection?
In the latest AV-TEST research, Bitdefender scored a perfect 6 out of 6 for protection, while Malwarebytes got 5.5. Protection reflects the results of tests involving protection against malware and other attacks.
AV-Comparatives is an Austrian independent organization that tests and assesses antivirus software found that Bitdefender blocks 99.6% of threats, as of 2023 September. Unfortunately, Malwarebytes wasn’t included in the latest testing, but in the testing from 2022 November, it scored 99.0%, while Bitdefender was nearly perfect again with 99.7%.

🔎 What scan options Malwarebytes and Bitdefender have?
With Bitdefender it’s rather simple, it has the standard quick, full and custom scan options. Now looking at Malwarebytes options, to be honest, it’s a little bit confusing. They have a threat scan which is called… Scan. In my testing, it didn't detect any malware and scanned only a limited number of files. On the other hand, the Custom scan can function as a comprehensive tool, covering the entire device and successfully identifying malware. Apart from that, there’s also an option to manually select which files or apps you want to check for malicious components.

🧪 Performance tests:
While the independent test results are trustworthy, I’ve done my own testing as I wanted to see the performance for myself. As per usual, I planted 10 malicious files on my system and I’ve run the full scan with both antivirus providers on my Windows PC.
The results favored Bitdefender over Malwarebytes, which used more of my system power, took longer to complete the scan, and caught less planted malware than Bitdefender.

Final thoughts ➡️
Overall, both of these providers are trustworthy and reliable Antivirus solutions. But at the beginning of the video, I promised to have a winner in this Malwarebytes vs Bitdefender comparison. As you might have guessed by now, I have to give this one to Bitdefender. Not only the pricing is lower, but the feature list that you get for your money is also longer. And most importantly it got better results from auditors for protection, which my testing also confirmed.

Got malwarebytes lifetime premium version I bought a decade ago. Can't really beat free, which it technically is for me.
The high CPU usage isn't too bad. Just set the auto scan to once a week. It does a better job at prevention from online threats anyway. Don't think the auto scan ever found anything that the real time protection didn't already catch. Does a good enough job combined with Ublock Origin and not going to random @#$ websites.
I heard the auto-renewal is a ripoff.

Why do you always Bitdefender?
I go with MBAM premium mainly because I bought a lifetime license for it back in 2013 for $15. Any premium antivirus these days you're looking to pay at least $40 a year.
