    Absolutely great video. I own a Maruti and still drive and love it. Had to recently change the Carburettor because I did not know or could not get any good mechanic to fix the carb. Not to mention the carburetor that was brought as second hand also was not good at all. I am now trying to make a good carburetor from picking the best from both :-) thanks for you video.. Excellent and helps even more when it is in English.

    I've always wondered - a typical car carb is so much much more complex than let's say an RD350 carb. Same with the engine, or the gearbox, or just about anything there in that engine bay. Yet most cars run so much reliably and give very little trouble over their lifetime as compared to a typical RD350 or a comparable 2-stroke performance machine.
    A friend of mine used a fiat for years without a single complaint ever from its points ignition while I was busy every other day pushing my 350 to the garage lol

    excellent video, the only thing I don't understand is that on my car when I act on the idle speed adjustment screw the engine rpm never changes... the only screw that affects the rpm is the adjustment screw of the mixture. Is there anything broken in my carburetor?

    • @bosegarage
      @bosegarage  Před měsícem

      @fabiodellaira1401 The idle rpm should change when you turn the idle speed adjustment screw. Try to to remove the idle speed adjustment screw completely and check for damaged thread on the screw as well as on the threaded area on the casing. Some cases the thread on the carburetor casing gets damaged and the screw will just keep turning at the same position and hence wont alter the engine rpm.

      Refer to the attached service manual. Please read the procedure on page 6D-10 (Page 341/650) on how to adjust the idle speed adjusting screw and idle mixture adjusting screw. You will need a Tachometer to tune the carb properly. The number of turns is decided by the engine rpm and it will be different for different vehicles.
      To start with fully turn the idle mixture adjusting screw clockwise until it is tight and then turn it anticlockwise by around 1.5 turns and start the tuning process as described in the manual.

    Hi, I absolutely love the video. I was very confused as to the function of a lot of components in my Maruti 800 carburetor even after reading the garage manual, which simply skips over things.
    I have an 800, the main problem i see with the carburetor is that the depression chamber doesn't actuate. It does actuate when I suck on the hose (i bought hte car used and the secondary is completely jammed which i will repair in a few days), but it doesn't work when connected to the carb. What could be the problem? Do you think the diaphragm could be bad?
    Also the acceleration pump actuates very slowly and does not seem to perform its intended task (car still misfires when i accelerate at low speed). What could be the reason for this?

    • @bosegarage
      @bosegarage  Před rokem

      Hello. Thanks a lot for your feedback.
      The secondary circuit butterfly valve has a tendency to get stuck of the car is not driven at high speeds or high load conditions. Get it serviced first. At the end of the shafts you will find a seal. The seal is not available as spare. Find a suitable oring and substitute the seal. Once the secondary circuit is rectified then check if the depression chamber is actuating the circuit at high speed conditions. Still if the depression chamber is not functioning then it may have a damaged diaphragm.
      Regarding the acceleration pump circuit, there is a rubber diaphragm inside that gets dried up over a period of time and loses flexibility. Then you will have issue of misfiring when trying to accelerate. Service the Carburetor and replace the acceleration pump diaphragm and all gaskets and orings. Make sure to use Maruti Genuine Part. Aftermarket diaphragm and the not the best quality available and may not completely solve the issue of misfire when trying to accelerate.
      Thanks and regards,
      Bose Garage.

    • @bosegarage
      @bosegarage  Před rokem

      @@MarutiEnthusiast The depression chamber needs to be replaced as a whole unit. We cannot replace the diaphragm alone as it is a sealed vacuum actuator.

      @@bosegarage finally got around to removing the entire carb yesterday. i realized a few days ago that the secondary was stuck closed. so i removed it and freed it as much as i could, and tried putting in oil in the shaft, not with much success. i could suck on it and the secondary would open (on the bench) but the carb vacuum fails to open the secondary. worse, if i open the secondary by hand, it does not close completely on its own. i have to close it by hand.
      what do you think needs to be done?

    • @bosegarage
      @bosegarage  Před rokem

      @@MarutiEnthusiast Did you remove the butterfly valve and shaft from the carburetor? You need to remove and clean the shaft properly and area on the carburetor body. For this you will need to remove the linkages. Lubricate the area properly. When you remove the shaft you will notice that there is a seal on either side. The seal is not available as spare anymore. You need to find a suitable oring to fit that location. Without the seal petrol will leak from that location. When you buy the oring ensure that the shaft js not very tight once inserted into it.

      Extremely sorry for the late reply. In our case we had to loosen the idle mixture adjustment screw further. It might vary for different vehicles.

      completely (tightend/closing) the one nd half turn off the vehicel
