It's time for us to delve into the lore of Final Fantasy X, and after first looking at Tidus, we're now moving onto one of the supporting cast with Auron's origins.
Auron's role in Final Fantasy 10 is rather different from the other protagonists, as he's essentially a second generation hero, having previously travelled with Braska and Jecht on their pilgrimage to defeat Sin.
After his confrontation with Yunalesca went sour, Auron chose to stay true to his vows to both Braska and Jecht, looking after their children (Yuna and Tidus) until the time was right for them to finally defeat Sin and end Spira's suffering.
Auron often chose to stay in the background throughout much of this, but every now and then he would offer rousing speeches such as his classic "now is the time" speech against Yunalesca.
We hope you enjoy! Be sure to let us know which character you'd like us to focus on next!

Auron is my favourite FF character, not only do I like his demeanor and how he acts (constantly takes shots at other characters,, his speech before Yunalesca) and design, but I really loved his story. How it bases around wanting to keep the promise he made to his friend, becoming unsent so he could fulfill that promise, that just made his death even more heartwarming to me, not only could he rest after 10 more years of living, he could fulfilling the promise he made 10 years prior, and created a better future for Spira. He always says "This is your story" and that has always inspired me to live my life how I want, and I think many other people would feel the same. Plus he has one the best themes in all of FF in my opinion, he wields a massive blade, one of his overdrives creates a tornado, his "break" abilities are really useful, and his celestial weapon-the masamune-Is badass, just like him.

Auron's probably my favourite FF character. There's so much emotional depth to him. When you first play through the game, you see him as a mentor and father-figure who is guiding the party along. He knows both Tidus' world and Spira; he's the most knowledgeable out of every character. But it took me until my second playthrough to realise just how odd the reverence people showed to him on his return must have felt after being an outcast for the entirety of Braska's pilgrimage. And then there are all those small moments, like when he comments on the fact that they put up a statue of Braska in the temple, and when he notes that something Tidus says reminds him of Jecht...He's touching on his past. He's not a kind of 2D mentor character, dutifully honouring promises made to friends. Behind all the stoicism and apparent surety in his actions, Auron's still partly that 'kid' who first went on a pilgrimage. He's a character who dares to hope for Spira even when everything he believed in has fallen through and even after his lowest point after losing his closest friends and confronting Yunalesca. Auron might fit the father-figure role, but it's the hope of a young man that never really died inside him that truly defines who he is.

I like Auron a lot because if I think about the character growth, we have a summoner/white mage character and someone who's only really trained in blitzball to this point who are the main characters of the adventure. You start off with some pretty easy stuff, but your hand is held the entire time. Tidus does show his own physical abilities before he meets Rikku, but Rikku carries with the grenades (which makes sense for technology to be stronger than they are at that time.) Afterwards, you've got Khimari, an absolute legend. Let's be honest, man lived in the mountains of Gagazet... have you seen the fiends there? You've got a guy who we've seen actively defends the village from nearby fiends and probably has in the past (X-2 shows he takes the initiative to, so he probably has before with his brother going into the military.) We've got Lulu, a friggin blackmage. So on.
But then, we travel to Luca and IMO the game really changes after Luca. Beforehand, the hardest boss is probably trying to beat Ochu if you're not taking any time to level or anything. The hardest repeatable fiend is laughable at best. After you go to Luca, it's still not 'serious' as Omega Ruins/Final Bosses condition you to play the game a lot differently, so these guys aren't really a problem anymore. but things like more often status effects, higher HP's, higher damage, multiple attacks/statuses, The whole reason why we see Auron again in the flesh initially is because we've got some strong fiends to fight off. It makes sense to me because at 17 years old, you probably could cut a few wings off some bats, hit a monster around, when you've got some help in the form of already-trained party members. Then as you start to catch up to where they're at, shit hits the wall, but luckily you get the absolute DPS Tank, Auron. He's a REALLY suggested character to use, IMO, due to his Breaks and how easy they can make some fights.

Great rundown. The layers of this game's story are truly brilliant. It is exceedingly rare I say this about a character in any story: Auron is definitely my favorite in FFX. The whole cast is great, but Auron has a depth that's both evident and deceptive from the start. By the time his story unfolds, it's clear he is a bridge to everything. He represents in a way, an antagonist, an anti-hero, a mentor, and a guardian trope all at once. Few characters hit such a wide range without feeling like a hot mess of ideas that don't blend together. He's also one of the coolest parts of Kingdom Hearts II.

In Japan age is looked at very different especially nowadays. Being over 25 you’re generally considered to be old by most children. Most young adults consider anyone over 30 to be old. Japan also has a serious age issue in gaming. That’s why Vaan was introduced in FFXII as a playable character. Instead of the real main character which was meant to be Ashley and Basch both older characters.
