Really love my Rascal! Only thing to note is it’s not really a “true” short scale. It’s like a short scale bass in a regular basses body. The neck and the distance from the nut to bridge are that of a short scale, but the body is as big as a long scale bass. Just something to keep in mind for whoever buys it thinking it will feel like a mustang bass, which it won’t.

I bought one. They are great. It’s a short scale but the bridge is a long way from the bottom of the body, so it’s a fairly large instrument relative to the scale. It’s good to play. Neck is really nice. I like the pickups. A great extra bass to accompany a P or J.

So my question to you is this- is it just as comfortable to play as say any other 30" short scale bass with a smaller body. It also seems to me that because the bridge is further back the scale would be longer than 30 " Im interested but not sure of the longer neck and and larger body. I currently heve a Gretsch G2220 Short scale bass. Thank you.

I've got one, in Shell Pink which we can get in the states. It's a great bass. The short scale fools you because it's just a 30" neck, but a full size body. Comfortable to play, and because it has a full size body there is no neck dove which you can see in short scales. I put LaBella Mustang flats on mine and it's just amazing.

As a large man who loves the sound of short scales, but hates how they look in proportion to his body on stage lol, this is a WIN
you get the long scale look with short scale snap

The 6 holes without screws on the Mustang bridge are for mutes.

I've had my Sherwood Green Rascal for a while now, but sadly, I find that I just can't bond with it. I'm running La Bella 760f-MUS (Mustang through body flatwounds) through a Fender Rumble 40 V3, but no matter what settings I try, I just can't escape the overall boomy sound. I have played around with pickup height, but to no avail. I just don't like what I hear, as it just rubs me the wrong way after years of playing an assortment of basses. Perhaps roundwounds are the way to go, but as I ripped off the factory strings as soon as it arrived, I've yet to experiment with any. Don't get me wrong, it's beautifully made with one of the finest Squier necks I've ever tried. No fret problems at all, and with a touch of lemon oil, that Laurel fingerboard looks lovely. The nut on my example was delivered spot on. I've been able to set it up for a pretty low action making it a dream to play (once my long fingers had become accustomed to the narrower fret spacing), but I'm now of the opinion that perhaps short scale basses may not be for me after all (even though it feels in many ways like a full size bass). My other other main gripes are the positioning of the volume knob. It seems too far forward to be able to pick anywhere near the bridge, and I'm constantly hitting it with my pinky. The final gripe is, no matter what any other owners may have said, it DOES suffer from neck dive, and could well do with a set of Gotoh Res-O-Lite GB350 tuners. It's hard to tell just what segment of the market this well made "Little" bass is aimed at, but alas, I think I'll be moving mine before it starts gathering dust. I have to admit though, the Sherwood Green metallic body & matching headstock look gorgeous, and match well with the mint green pickguard. Cheers.

I have a MIM Fender Rascal Bass (3 single-coil pickups) and a Squier Rascal HH Bass. I have to say I like the Squier better!

I love the bass but they are heavy for a short scale, the 4 on sweetwater 5/5/24 are 9.3 to 10.6 lbs. .
