  • Join us on this epic camping trip during an unexpected storm. Winter camping takes on new meaning with heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures. With a cargo trailer, wood stove and a shovel we manage to enjoy it.

    You guys are either very brave, very nuts, or extremely dedicated to camping. I believe it's all three and I am envious. Have fun😁

      lol! Yes suz is always up for an adventure, but a heated trailer and a shower with hot water, a toilet, electric fridge queen size bed definitely helped.🤣

      Well if you already live in cottage country……that is pretty awesome. We head there to escape the city.

    LOL, there's no universe where a version of me voluntarily goes into somewhere that snows. I know there are plenty who love it. But I moved to southwest Texas in hopes of never seeing that white stuff from the sky again! On a more fun subject, I love to see more videos from vanlifers and trailer nomad showing what they live off of in terms of food choices (storage, cooking, preserving, etc.) and other key items. It's interesting to see--especially for fulltime nomads--how they set themselves up for decent periods off-grid or nearly off-grid.

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  Před 4 měsíci

      Lol. Good to know yourself. In Canada we don’t have a lot of warm weather options in terms of places to live…..so we must figure out a way to enjoy winter since it’s a big part of our year. But I love the warm weather too.
      Yes I agree that’s a great suggestion for perhaps a future video when we are on what if our long haul trips. Thanks for the comment appreciate it.

    Lots of work to winter camping especially on crown land. Maggie was the hit of the show. I recognized were you are camped. I’ve stayed there before. One of my most favourite splits. Great video Zac and Suzette

      Lots of work but well worth it. Yes Maggie always steals the show. We definitely will return to that spot, but likely not in summer I’m guessing loads of mosquitos and black flies?
      Thanks so much, I’m glad u enjoyed the video.

    Wow, I never knew Huntsville got this much snow this year since you know most of Southern Ontario where you (and we) live was spared. I do love snow. You got back up skills Zach!! Lol, I love when you said " okay, we're done" after backing into like 3 ft of snow. You guys are fun and crazy❤

      It’s amazing the difference a few hours drive north makes. When we are getting rain, they are getting snow. I get lots of practice backing up, and trust me I don’t always get it right. I just edit that out. 🤣🤣. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. We really appreciate it.

    I loved this episode!! Your rig and equipment performed perfectly. I’m going to have to try those “pigs in the blanket”. (In my family that’s a name for cabbage rolls, but hey Vienna style hot dogs in home made bread dough is sure to be a winner!)

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  Před 4 měsíci

      Thank you so much, very encouraging comment. We are really happy with our equipment though we are planning some tweaks to the trailer. We are trying to improve the quality of our content. We HIGHLY recommend the bigs in a blanket. Over the fire it really was a perfect campfire meal. I had no idea it referred to cabbage rolls as well. It fits. Thanks again!

    Where you at? Northern Ontario?'I've built myself a nice little 14ft bug out that I'd like to get out of SK! Pulled it to the west coast last year and would like to start my journey through the shield! Tips for sites from the Regina area east through Ontario greatly appreciated!

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  Před 4 měsíci

      Wow that’s great. Quite an adventure. You will not have a problem finding campsites. I just suggest having a map that shows where crown land is and use google maps to find places.
      How far east are u planning on going?

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  Před 4 měsíci

      Hey great to hear from you! Thanks so much. Yes Maggie is loving life. Definitely the star. The large single panel windows is where we get most of our condensation. I think I have a solution for it, which I plan to do a video on this summer. Thanks for watching and commenting, all 3 of us appreciate it.

      @@waysoutback we ordered our Escape 17B with the additional insulation package and thermal windows, planning for 3 season camping. It’s worked out well spring and fall very comfortable but don’t think I’ll try it in the winter. We had some frosty nights in Newfoundland last summer. I know some campers add temporary piece of plexiglass on the inside of the windows, with a small air space. They say it works.

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Sounds awesome. That is exactly what we are thinking of doing. Are you living in nfld or were you just visiting. My wife’s family is from nfld.

    • @lanarkwanderer

      We live in Eastern Ontario. We did a one month trip to The Rock last summer. Great place to camp, best folks you can meetup with anywhere, I’m sure your wife would agree. Not crowded, lots boondocking sites, and you can enjoy snow in June ! Spent a few days in Le Scie with the icebergs. Going back to Nova Scotia this July. Our trailer is about the same weight as yours, we tow with a Silverado. I noticed you using a handle to set the stabilizers. I use a cordless drill for that, I also replaced the crank for the tongue jack with a bolt and use the drill for that as well. Maybe bump into you along the way. Checkout Silent Lake provincial park, quite nice.

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  Před 4 měsíci +1

      We always use our diesel heater!!!! Every trip😁. For quick heat it’s the best and to keep the trailer at a certain temp during the night. But the wood stove heat is the best!
