    I currently ride an SV650 but this bike seems way faster, despite the same size engine. That extra 25bhp makes a huge difference. Does it sacrifice some low end torque for that top end power?

    • @lensoprezole5322
      @lensoprezole5322 Před 3 lety

      No. Last gen engines are designed for a wide torque curve across the rev range. All Aprilia 660 engines are designed for torque, even the RS 660. Not only the Tuono & Tuareg 660. RS660 is a °sport-ROAD° bike, designed for the road : chassis, engine, riding position, etc.
      SV650 is just a cheap motorcyle with a lot of compromises to display a low price tag.

    • @jayflash2035
      @jayflash2035 Před 3 lety

      SVs are brilliant bikes and fast enough, but the power and torque of the 660 is more comparable with something like a Daytona or VFR (differences in weight aside). I’m guessing that the extra top end on the 660 makes a big difference, plus it’s more modern / premium components next to something like an SV. It would be interesting to see how it stacks up against some of the old-school midddleweights e.g. CBR600F, VFR800 etc, though.

    • @christiand.7930
      @christiand.7930 Před 3 lety

      @@jayflash2035 No problem. I think it is good for aprilia that the 660 is quite popular but it is probably more of a street bike compared to the former bikes of the 600cc class. At least it is one more sporty non naked bike which is not a 1000cc or a Ducati. I can not think of one really good looking naked “sport” bike on the market right now.

      @@DukeOfTwist Street triple RS is very close to the 890R on a chrono lap. 890R has chassis movements in the corners on the track and can be dangerous. The Street triple RS has a more stable chassis. So I wouldn't buy the fastest at the track but the one that has got the better made chassis. It's not as impractical or uncomfortable as a true supersport like a ZX-6R or R6, better for off-track purposes/around town than those bikes, but also still capable on track. A very good all rounder, perfect for people who only want 1 bike to do everything instead of multiple bikes for different purposes (ie: MT-07 for town and ZX-6R for highway, track, and canyons). Same category as CBR650R, Ninja 650, and (I think) Ducati Supersport, the RS660 having the most technology (and a hefty price tag to match) out of it's 3 MAIN competitors. The R6 and ZX-6R will beat all those bikes and the RS660 on track or highway of course. But the R6 and ZX-6R will lose to all of those when it comes to comfort, and lose to some of them, RS660, when it comes to low end torque and "useable" power especially around town. Sorry for essay, think I got it right though.
