THE FLORIDA PROJECT (2017):
Set on a stretch of highway just outside the imagined utopia of Disney World, The Florida Project follows six-year-old Moonee (Brooklynn Prince in a stunning breakout turn) and her rebellious mother Halley (Bria Vinaite, another major discovery) over the course of a single summer.
The two live week to week at "The Magic Castle," a budget motel managed by Bobby (a career-best Willem Dafoe), whose stern exterior hides a deep reservoir of kindness and compassion. Despite her harsh surroundings, the precocious and ebullient Moonee has no trouble making each day a celebration of life, her endless afternoons overflowing with mischief and grand adventure as she and her ragtag playmates including Jancey, a new arrival to the area who quickly becomes Moonee's best friend, fearlessly explore the utterly unique world into which they've been thrown.
Unbeknownst to Moonee, however, her delicate fantasy is supported by the toil and sacrifice of Halley, who is forced to explore increasingly dangerous possibilities in order to provide for her daughter.

He really tried to look out for everyone living there but like he’s the manager with a business to run, such a fine line at times. Great film
Good man daniel was
I have seen this scene before, but this time it clicked different. Bobby wanted the $1.50 profit in the soda machine before kicking him out. 😂
I think he did that so if there is ever any discrepancy with police he can say he bought a soda and is therefore a patron on his property
Not to be that guy, but the soda machine guy makes that profit, not the hotel owner
@@user-md6tq3oo1h The owner is the soda machine guy lol anyone can buy a soda machine & have it filled & make a profit. It's actually a really good side business. The hotel owner definitely gets the money
@@user-md6tq3oo1h unless he owns the soda machine too, which is pretty common
This scene is so good because it comes out of nowhere yet it's the turning point when things get dire. The way he pretends to be senile to try to catch Bobby off guard is chilling.
You can say he's "Willem Dafriend" to the kids, whilst he's "Willem Dafoe" to the old creep.
HAHAGA
Beautiful!!! 😆
Bobby is the closest thing to a father figure that Mooney, or any of the other kids at the motel, will ever have!
I really loved this scene!! Usually, Willem Dafoe is a creepy, sadistic villain. But, I love how the Director in this film portrayed him as a good guy!! Especially how he kicked that pedophile off of that property!! I wish that Dafoe played more good guys in movies.
He played several...The guy did everything 😃
I’ve seen him as a good guy more than the bad guy
watch him in the movie The Hunter, he plays another good guy similar to this
If you keep looking you’ll notice the girl never gets off the picnic table lol
Willem Dafoe’s character being a typical manager but also being protective of the kids is such an awesome scene.
Hollywood needs guys like Bobby to protect child actors.
This film affected me so much and keeps popping up in my heart and head time and time again. Bobby really tries to be a decent guy. He's doing the best he can; but somehow it's just never enough.
I've lived in Hotels and with my daughter a few months and it kinda be like this everyone looks out for one another or let me reword it the people working at the Hotel looks out for the kids and some parents like me did. Because unfortunately Hoteks like that and one I stayed at attracts some not so good people at times. We got out thankfully but there some who don't. And it's very hard to w you don't make the greatest amount if money. That's why this movie hits so hard. I didn't see it until just recently but I love it. I love how realistic it is. It aches my heart too because it's not the happiest place on earth or situation to be in. Props to the director and cast for doing such a wonderful job portraying this kinda life, others don't really think about unless their in that situation or know someone in that situation.
@@mariesmith6744thanks so much for sharing, i’m happy for you and your family!
Thank God there’s people like Bobby ready to protect children!! ❤️🙏🏽
2:16 My brain is trained into thinking he was gonna say "You know, I'm something of a Soda Myself"
DaFoes character in this movie, really gives me hope, that despite the disparity and hardship of his business and his patrons living situation, that he a defender, and a good dude, ready to protect, and do the right thing.
It's not his business. He's just the manager.
Literally one of the best uses of subtext in a screenplay I’ve ever seen in my life
What’s the subtext?
@@valexcxthe old man obviously didn’t have any good intentions… he was, at least, a pedophile. So, yeah, the best thing about art is that, you can say things , without having to say it explicitly: subtext
That's not your mother, it's a MAN, baby!
I remember first thinking the man had intense mental illness when I first watched the movie. But someone in the comments pointed out that he was faking it to throw Bobby off. Wow.
When he smacked that can out of his hand I just bursted out laughing. 😂 3:31
0:58 😂😂😂
It was the creepy old man running for me😭😭😭

Bobby was the hero of this movie.
Williams definitely a talented actor it’s a shame some people only say they know him from spider man.
Platoon was the best WD movie
@@amberkreitz3388 favorite movie from his as well probably the best Vietnam movie ever and the fact William is a tunnel rat makes if that much cooler…
“You’re parched, huh?”
This movie made me cry😢
It’s okay.
This is the best scene. 😂
I wanna watch this movie so bad, but i hate crying, im so scared the movie is gonna make me cry like crazy.
It's so worth watching! A truly perfect film
If this movie doesn't make you cry, you aren't a human being.
It's an excellent film, one of my favorites. It will definitely make you cry but you'll laugh as well!
go see its great. its a fun watch with some tough parts and an emotional ending but has a lot of warmth and love in it too. It is a bit of everything
It’s not gonna make you cry, it’s not really a tearjerker. More of a simple drama
hes my fav character idcc
Sgt. Elias once again protecting kids
Bobby was the best😢
I like William Dafoe as a good guy.
1:19 - you shouldn't call kids by their first names in front of a suspected child predator
I don't even think that guy knows his own name.
I was thinking the same when I watched it!
i think he did because he was so confident he was going to scare him far, far away from moonie
He just went from human to Green Goblin
I miss this kind of living. Im grateful I was poor.
This story hits close to home for me a family member of mine was stalked by an old 58 year old deviant
Being a pedophile as we know is illegal, and it’s wonderful that the manager, played by Willem Dafoe took action to protect the children from a guy who lied to him that he was thirsty since he only came to hang out with the kids. Always protect your children.
lol i wish i was apart of this movie i was moonies age in 2017
Me too
Is that Rudy Giuliani?
Yes
I can't stand Rudy Giuliani
English is not my first language but that old man's accent sounds a bit British to me
It's southern American.
No to both.
Joe Biden
Why can't a man talk to kids? A lot of judgement on the owner's part. If it was a woman, would he act the same? He seemed like a old man with mental fitness issues. Most likely harmless. You would get a lawsuit for treating an elderly person like that today. And you shoud!
See how he changes his behavior after he gets the soda
Pay attention to how he approaches, how he acts when confronted by Bobby and how he reacts to him subtly accusing him. Bobby wasn't agressive at the beginning, he was being precautious for the kids (you never know) and, once he saw through his bs, he acted the way he acted.
