Swami Jagadguru Bharathi Tirtha, please clarify my doubt. How to Know, What is Dharma and What is Not? I cannot read and understand Dharma Sastra. Over a period of time there are many additions and misinterpretations to the Original texts. I learnt from Sw Tattvavidananda classes where Epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata has many additives and misinterpreted largely in the Society these days. Madam I pray that swamiji graces you. In my opinion having devotion to god and duty is dharma.Treating others like you want be treated by others is dharma.Asta gunas mentioned by gowthama and yama niyamas mentioned by patanjali maharshi are dharma.
Swamy in todays world, its very difficult to walk in dharma. I will share a story. A person who rented his house needed to pay advance amount to tenant along with fine. Tenant lying d sending legal notice Sir. No court or lawyer supports the owner or dharma. Near by home people asking the owner to go for compensation by sharing whatever tenant asks.
Such things will always be there. Family problems, land problems, enemy problems are there since the time of Ramayana and Mahabharata. It is in such times that your Dharma-nista is tested. If everything was perfect, fine, happy-happy, all were good people and Bhaktas, then what was the need of Dharma?
Here acharya is talking, following your vihita karma is doing dharma. Don't go too munch deep, just follow the small things like doing daily deva puja, that is the 1st step to do dharma.
