    The Grizzly kit has a different bar. Sometimes you have to make bushings from split 3/4 copper tubing and/or fittings. Delta also used different brackets and guard mounts at different times and slightly different models. The Grizzly guard also needs one hole modified. If the guides hit the blade differently in the upper and lower positions you have to shim the block on on or two sides.

    I thought you might want to know the Delta model #28-203 comes with the riser kit factory installed for the 12 inch cuts-however the saw then only cuts 13 inches wide due to the riser width.

      Hi Bob it’s Jim
      The riser I put on my saw is the same size as the column itself, and I can still cut 14 inches between the blade and the column.
      Is your riser block bigger than your column, did you buy the saw new or was it used, and did someone put the wrong riser block on. Thanks Jim

    A couple of questions...
    Do you have a direct link to the riser kit? I have looked at CS Machinery's website and can't find any mention of bandsaw items. How did you hear about it? What did it cost?
    Thanks!

      Hi Claire. I don't have a direct link with Bill I have his phone number which is 1-610-662-5311 and that is CS machinery and I think it was around $295 plus shipping it was expensive but for what I'm using it for and I've got the saw given to me by my uncle I figured that was cheap to be able to re-saw Lumber with it. I just bought this saw for $300. it has new blade guides and includes the riser block (which I havent installed yet). Im assuming a 105" blade is what I want once the riser is put on. One difference is the motor is mounted on the right instead of the left like yours.

    • @jimjackson9381
      @jimjackson9381  Před 4 lety

      Flyingspyder
      Well I hate to say it but if it’s in good shape you stole that I ordered a riser black for mine and it was $295 so you got a great deal, as far as where they mounted the motor I guess that doesn’t really matter it’s just odd they would put it where you would be standing to operate the saw. If you’re going to be resigning Lumber like I do you may want to go to the heavy duty spring to get more stretch on your blade and you will probably want to install one of the bearing blocks that I make for your elevation screw otherwise it may end up bending on you like mine did. just a thought. Jim.

Thanks Jim

    I have a 28-274 delta 14 inch bandsaw and a lot of people are putting in a 6 inch riser blocks, but my bandsaw has a 3/4 horsepower motor. what size motor do you have and do you think a 3/4 horse motor is enough power to resaw a 12 inch piece of maple or even a softer wood ??????

      @jimjackson9381  Před 7 lety

      Matt Dodaro
      I have a three-quarter horse motor on mine and for what I've been cutting it works great I haven't cut 12 inches of maple or oak I would imagine it will work you'll just have to cut slower and make sure your blade is sharp if your blade isn't sharp it doesn't matter what size motor you have it's going to cut crooked and it's going to cut slow. Thanks jim

    Looks like it was for a JET. I'm guessing by the color. I have a PowerMatic and my riser Block is the same color of the saw. Would have been nice if this was Gray. But asking them to repaint it I guess is asking too much.

    Should work that saw has been cloned for years and many of the parts can be swapped with other branded saws i believe Taiwan makes most of them in the same factory and i think it was Central Machiner(HarborFreight), Craftsman(Sears) , Powerkraft(Montgomery Wards , and of course Delta too ! they also made them for both woodworking and metal cutting models although the Metalworking saws were more expensive as a rule and more Woodworking ones were sold

      Well you will notice when you buy a riser block for a delta saw that the holes in the top of the block in the pins in the bottom have been relocated to fit the Delta saw they may be reproducing the saws but not all the parts are identical you will have to do some work to them to make them fit.
