  • The Mount Everest climbing season is in full swing. But as more people turn up to ascend the summit, so does trash. This year, authorities are having none of it, as they get explorers to clean up after themselves, just as they would when walking their dogs. Rajneesh Bhandari has more from Nepal's capital Kathmandu.

Shameful all the money they spend to do the climb thousands 💵💵 and they treat it like a dump.

Defecation seems less a problem due to it being biological waste, but littering is despicable behavior.

    Close it down
    Charge larger admission taxes
    Enforce a clean up
    Etc etc etc

Or, have rules of how much you can take to certain points. Have a mandatory trash fee. Have locals or the government run a lucrative trash service.

You would think that the Nepalese gov would use some of the $11000, soon to be $15000 permit fee to build at least toilet facility at least Basecamp.

This is disgraceful, I would guess that it will be arrogant western climbers who think that the Nepalese should do it for them. They should check what they take up, record it all, photograph, climbers leave a significant deposit that will be returned when it has been checked they have brought their belongings down with them. I think the poo bag is a great idea, they could leave a dna sample and if their poo is found on the mountain they get a significant fine and named and shamed. It is unbelievably arrogant to leave all your rubbish behind 🤬🤬 Everest should be one of the most pristine environments on the planet!

More like they’ll hire people to clean up after them.
