  • This is why Discover credit cards are so popular. How do Discover credit cards compare to credit cards from other companies?
    Discover is not just a major credit card company but also a credit card network. There seems to be a lot of people that have a Discover credit card. Although they may not be the biggest credit card company or credit card network, Discover is still a popular credit card.
    They have solid credit cards such as the Discover it Cash Back card and the Discover it Student Cash Back Card. However, there are not too many options after that. In this video I go over why Discover credit cards are popular. Although they are common, Discover still has their pitfalls which I also cover.

      Something this content creator wont want you to know in this video .STAY AWAY FROM DISCOVER STAY AWAY FROM DISCOVER
      Do you want to know why, besides being only allowed to take $500 from an ATM in 24 hours, something you wont find out until you're in need of emergency cash like I discovered today when broken down in the middle of nowhere with a mechanic that only wanted cash .So be careful, there's a reason they call it Discover, you discover as you go.

    I have 15 credit cards, including the very exclusive American Express Centurion Black card. Yet, I still love my Discover It card that I got when I was starting out in the world. Very simple, basic card with no fluff. Not all of us want complicated things in our lives. I am a simple person who appreciates the simplicity and top notch customer service provided by Discover.

    I applied in branch for the Chase Freedom Unlimited card and the computer rejected me. I then applied for a Discover card online and I was approved. I’ve had the credit card for one year now and I just got my first year cash back match from them and I also got a credit line increase. I also have the Capital One savor card which is Mastercard. I used the Capital One in Australia because Mastercard is more widely accepted than Discover despite both the credit cards not charging a foreign transaction fee.

    Actually, Amex does also have other banks issuing credit cards using their network. Banco Popular of Puerto Rico issues one such card is their "The Black Card" that uses Amex network, not to be confused with the actual black card, aka Centurion card. BPPR also issues two other amex cards, their Amex Indigo and their Dual card which is two cards in one, a visa and an amex card.

    i have a confusing question. i just watched your 5 credit cards you need in 2022. you named different cards like citi double cash, freedom flex, csp, amex gold. but my question is what’s better? that 5 list variety or having a trifecta? like i want to get the chase trifecta but i’d feel like i’d need to commit to it to max the value of the chase points but is the trifecta better or is it better to have a variety?

    • @ChaseYokoyama
      @ChaseYokoyama  Před rokem +1

      I would say get the chase trifecta as early as you can but in the long run you want a variety of credit cards 🤷🏽‍♂️ the good thing about the trifecta is that all 3 cards only cost you $95 / year to carry. so even if you dont use them at all, you aren't wasting a ton of money. I hope that helps.

    I have many credit cards, it is my 3rd card after Bank of America Customized Cash and Chase Freedom Flex, I think I am just getting free referring money of $100 and only spend on 5% Rotating categories don't forget they have a match policy, so that is basically 10% back at end of the year of the first year.

    Discover offers 7 cards but there’s really only 3. And they’re all just diff variations of the main 3. The chrome, cashback, and miles cards are all they offer. Waiting for a refresh. Give us a 2% unlimited on the chrome and make the cashback card 5% back on one category of your choosing. With 1.5% unlimited anywhere else.

    Visa and MasterCard do not "use banks to issue their credit cards". The banks, use the Visa or MasterCard networks to issue their credit (and debit and prepaid) cards. You don't know the different roles between the banks and the networks.

    I have a couple questions can I please get some answers cause Google ain’t helping so much :(
    1.)like as a first credit card or debit card is discover the best?
    2.) should I have the same bank my whole life or after a couple of years or so should I switch banks?
    3.) does any credit/debit cards can be use to buy a house or a car or does it have to be a certain card?
    4.)how do I know when I need to pay back the bank, will they send mail or a message saying that it’s the time of the year to pay my taxes??
    5.) if I travel to another country can I still use my credit card there if there’s a bank there that my credit card is on
    6.) does any atm work like does it have to be a specific atm that only accept certain cards
    7.) which bank is the best for me as someone who’s getting their first card

    • @ChaseYokoyama
      @ChaseYokoyama  Před 3 měsíci

      1. Discover credit card
      2. You can switch banks as many times as you like. I would suggest always having a HYSA. But you can switch banks or at least transfer your money between banks to always have your money in the highest interest rate bank. You can even have multiple bank accounts open at the same time. For example I have a Chase and Sofi account. I keep my money in the SoFi account because of the higher interest rate. However I deposit or withdraw money from my Chase account because they have ATMS and branches to go to. I would then electronically transfer my money between my Chase and SoFi accounts.
      3. No you can't buy a house directly using a credit or debit card. Technically you could buy a car using a credit or debit card if the dealership allows it
      4. You do not pay taxes to the bank. Not sure what fees you would be paying the bank? Is it for a loan? If so, you can set up reminders within your bank account. For taxes, you just have to set reminders yourself or sign up for tax software that sends emails / notifications or hire an accountant.
      5. Your bank does not need to physically have a location in that country to work. Credit card acceptance is based on credit card networks (Amex, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, etc.) and on banks. It depends on that merchant in the country if they accept certain credit card networks or not.
      6. Most banks have no fee when using their own brand ATMs. For example a Chase atm with a Chase debit card. However there is a fee to use an ATM from a different bank from your debit card. Although there are certain debit cards that cover this fee.
      7. First debit card does not really matter which bank you go with. Most likely it will be with whichever bank you decide to leave your money in. For credit cards I would suggest getting a Discover or Chase card first.

    Is the 5% rotating categories worth $0 annual fee? Absolutely
    Obviously with chases 5/24 rule and other “better perk” cards out there I’d choose those.
