That "comparison" has definitely been a constant battle for me. I'm still not where I want to be, but I started to change my mindset by asking myself, " What can I do TODAY." My sister asked me to paint a huge mural of a blossoming cherry tree on her newly painted bedroom wall. I had her painting with me, until she broke her toe putting her new bed together. Being up close to the wall, making what looks like indescriminent blotches that make no sense in my limited field of vision would cause thoughts of uncertainty. But that's when I'd stop, get some coffee, and then pause in the doorway where I could finally rest and get a glimpse of the full picture coming together. The finished result, BIG picture, was a huge cherry tree raining petals that had a 3D effect. Sometimes in the mist of waiting, we get frustrated or upset about the blotchy layer we have been staring at for a significant amount of time. If you take the time to rest in God, he'll gently pull you back and let you take a glimpse of the mural that's coming together.
Thank you SO SO SO SO SO MUCH! I have no words to express how grateful i am for you helping me and many other girls relax (decrease pressure), focus (in what God wants for us now or wants to work with us in ourselves) and try to enjoy this season in our lives which is very hard if you truly dream of starting a family one day... I believe that the fact that God gave you your spouse later than you hoped for, made you understand this topic clearly, and therefore (now that you are married) you can understand many of us, help us go through it the BEST WAY possible, and also give us hope that we can do this💪🏼💪🏼 because in God we are strong🙌🏼

Returning to this video after watching it years ago. Thanks for keeping these up by the way. I am in a season of waiting for nearly everything right now: - waiting for the pandemic to end, so I can be in person for graduate school classes. - my eventual class of 2020 graduation, if it happens. - to find a job, so I can have the experience needed to become a teacher. - to be asked on a date and hopefully find a boyfriend. I know girls who are six years younger who have been asked out. MINORS!!! It hurts! It is soooo hard. I have so many dreams and I am confused why God is shutting all of the doors I want to be open so much. I am not getting any younger and at 23, it is so discouraging. I am wondering if my dreams are God’s dreams. I know God said it is not good for man to be alone and that we are to work.... it’s just confusing. Comparison is huge. Thank you for this video. PS. In seasons of waiting I find that Papa G. Really likes getting me to pray for others and mentor others who are discouraged in the waiting. It's also really helpful to have safe God spaces to meet with Him and just release the disappointments to Him.
I don't know much about the other channels that you were comparing yourself to, but one thing is for sure, I really do see and feel the favour of God on you. That favour that makes people (me, for sure) notice you and like you. I love you videos and how you gently remind me what God says about my situation =)
What helps me in the waiting is surrendering it to God. When this season first started, I was so anxious and impatient for that thing to come to fruition. I would get so frustrated, angry, upset, hurt, and disappointed when things didn't happen when I thought they would, or when I thought they should. But, when I learned to surrender these things to God and choose to trust in Him and His timing, I found myself resting in His peace. I understand that when we really really want something to happen at a certain time and we want to have some control over the situation, we want to know when. We want to know how. We want to SEE some kind of progress during the waiting period. But it doesn't happen and it doesn't happen, and it can get so discouraging, and disheartening. This is what it looks like when we are trying to walk by sight and not by faith. It is SO challenging to know the promise God has given us whilst the current circumstances that seem to directly contradict it. That is a test of our faith - to continue to trust in Him even when our circumstances contradict the promise He's given us. And because we want to be in control, it can be difficult to surrender our pseudo control to Him and choose to trust in His timing and His way. But, I can tell you that as difficult as it is to give up our pseudo control over the situation, it is far easier to surrender everything to Him than it is to continue to get crushed under the weight of disappointment and pain. Whatever it is God has for you, maybe you want it to happen in the next two years. Maybe you want it to happen under xyz circumstances. And you're stressed about it happening on _your_ timeline. But, please trust me when I say that God's timeline is better than ours. It is better for something to happen later and have it be the right time, than it is for something to happen now and have it be the wrong time. Please trust God and surrender to Him. And you will be surrounded by His peace that surpasses all understanding. Isaiah 55:8-9 says He has the bird's eye view. He can see everything while our perception is limited. Please, please, take it from someone who has been waiting in their season for 8 years and is still waiting, trust God. No, the promise God has given me hasn't come to fruition yet - _yet_ . But I look back at all those times I was disappointed things didn't happen when I wanted them to and I can see and understand why it didn't happen at that time. I wasn't ready yet. I still had pain and brokenness that needed healing. I still had areas I needed to grow in. I had serious sins I needed to leave behind. Of course, I'm not perfect now, but there were certain serious issues that needed to be dealt with beforehand. I am grateful that things didn't happen back then because if they had, it would have been a disaster. I am not being dramatic. I was so messed up and broken, my brokenness would have been a catalyst for a train-wreck had things happened too early. Trust God's timing. Trust in His way. He knows what He's doing. He's got this. I know it can be difficult in this time of waiting. It is HARD to wait. I get it. But trusting in God and surrendering to Him is far better. Trust Him. I cannot say it enough, please, please surrender to Him and trust in Him. Like I already said, as difficult as it is to hold onto that pseudo control, it is far easier to surrender to God than to continue to get crushed under the weight of disappointed hopes. Trust Him.

I haven't read so much of it yet, but listened to talks by him on that topic, which were based on the book. I also listened to later talks, which elaborate further, beyond the book's content, about how we can actually get idols out of our heart. I loved the content. I loved learning about how the inner order of love is so absolutely essential and such a central question for humanity over all these centuries. I have also learned, that we don't need to try to _not_ focus on our idols, but need to strengthen our bond with God instead... I hope you're trip in Europe is amazing! Waiting has been VERY hard for me, because I've had a LOT of seasons where I've been placed in the unknown. I've also been through a lot lately and recently, and I haven't been myself. Trusting God is the ONLY answer.
Honestly I’ve been struggling with anger and rebellion toward God for me still being single at 30. It feels unfair sometimes. Like I legitimately resent having to be alive if I have to suffer with such debilitating loneliness and depression.
What do you do when you know you are in a period of waiting but nothing you do during that time works out? The only thing I had for certain is that the Lord wanted me to move back home. Aside from that, I haven't had any guidance that makes sense to me, and I pray about it everyday. I feel so stuck.

Like you did chorces, cooking,cleaning kids, and then church on sundays and I reazlized that and I don't want to be in comfort routine in God I want to grow more in God. So Ive been reading my bible more and have been playing worship music day and night and praying more the last 2 weeks I know I that's not long to wait I'm just like what now lol

I haven't read so much of it yet, but listened to talks by him on that topic, which were based on the book. I also listened to later talks, which elaborate further, beyond the book's content, about how we can actually get idols out of our heart.
I loved the content. I loved learning about how the inner order of love is so absolutely essential and such a central question for humanity over all these centuries.
I have also learned, that we don't need to try to _not_ focus on our idols, but need to strengthen our bond with God instead...

Waiting has been VERY hard for me, because I've had a LOT of seasons where I've been placed in the unknown. I've also been through a lot lately and recently, and I haven't been myself.

Honestly I’ve been struggling with anger and rebellion toward God for me still being single at 30. It feels unfair sometimes. Like I legitimately resent having to be alive if I have to suffer with such debilitating loneliness and depression.

What do you do when you know you are in a period of waiting but nothing you do during that time works out? The only thing I had for certain is that the Lord wanted me to move back home. Aside from that, I haven't had any guidance that makes sense to me, and I pray about it everyday. I feel so stuck.

Like you did chorces, cooking,cleaning kids, and then church on sundays and I reazlized that and I don't want to be in comfort routine in God I want to grow more in God. So Ive been reading my bible more and have been playing worship music day and night and praying more the last 2 weeks I know I that's not long to wait I'm just like what now lol
I love that!!! And it's so easy to get in a routine - and so necessary at time! Especially if you have young kids!! But I love that you're looking to stay so close to God. This is such a good question. I really want to think about this more and do a video on it.
