one more thing you forget to mention it's Asus remove the display port down grade from Strix Scar II, and that orange key i'm not fan at all easily lost if you always on the move
Got mine a week ago, it goes back to ASUS asap as the fans are going wild at 5k +RPM for playing weak games like League of Legends on standard performance mode. For Turbo mode, expect the laptop to go crazy loud and if playing a game like WOW at Max settings expect to see both the CPU and GPU exceeding the 90 degrees mark within less than half an hour. Huge disappointment in terms of thermals/cooling an older desktop with considerably downgraded specs is able to perform better...last time that I make the mistake of getting a laptop for gaming. PS: Thanks to its single-channel RAM expect unstable performance
I have exactly that, and love it, with the 17inch you get your keypad back which is nice. IS loud when under load from the fans but then I game with headphones so it is not really noticed, casing do not get as hot as I would have expected, definitely has my vote, only thinga that would beat this pc is a RTX2080 :)

Great review, very well done. Reminds me of my gaming days! Question to you, as i am going to buy this laptop soon. Is there any notable difference between scar 3 and hero 3? And if yes, what is it? Cant seem to wrap my head around it.
This is a magnificent question! Both of them don't really have that many differences from each other. Let me tell you something - there was a recent slew of new laptops from ROG and one of them is the 17-inch version of the Scar 3, but Hero 3 is nowhere to be found. I think you pretty know what that means. 😉
Tech Critter its a pain to find a hero iii. you think it was discontinued because of some odd reason? maybe costs were too high so they toned down the quality on scar and pumped that one out?
Hey yo. They're both very similar in terms of specs. However, the Scar 3 does have an edge over the Hero 3. Is it a big deal though? Not exactly. You can buy it online now on Lazada or Shopee.

Hello! I enjoyed your review. I have a question - how was display? Was there noticable display bleed? Is brightess good? And can you run display on 240hz when unplugged? ( THANKS 🙂👍🥐)
Hey there, thanks for the questions. The display backlight bleed isn't particularly noticeable or significant, so no worries on that. As for brightness, the display itself is not really bright. In our studio environment with some bright lights, we cranked up the display to 100% brightness already. 240Hz unplugged yes, you can. But the battery consumption will go way high up.
I have a question can you answer it for me which one is better at performance when it comes to game acer predator helios 300(2019) or asus strix scar 3???
It depends on your requirement, many has regarded it as the best budget gaming laptop, but if you look around the market, there are some brands offering better spec at lower price. So what I'm trying to say is, price is just a factor to choose which laptop. Most importantly is to look at the big picture.
This has a full gtx 2070 in it.. its the best laptop to buy in its price range... and why the fuck do u care about the webcam... what are u trying to be like linus?
@TechCritter i m planing to buy this laptop in malaysia so i want to know is 16 gb ram is dual channel or single channel and i play games , programing and development stuffs will you recommend this laptop to buy. about the ssd isnt it a good ssd
Factory default is 16GB single channel RAM, easier for customer to purchase an extra stick of 16GB and make it 32GB dual channel. Otherwise if you want 2x 8GB configuration, you need to let the retail store know in advance. This is a good portable machine for games and work. Just that the lack of webcam might not be that useful for video conferencing. The SSD on the other hand, is Intel 660p which is usable but if you're nitpicky then it is not up to our expectation from an NVMe drive
