Not bad for a rookie (I think I already told you that).
Did a fantastic job and looked sharp on the 4255. One thing I don’t miss about my Deere was backing up every bale. My NH has a kicker so I can just stop, tie the bale and drop it, then keep baling. Only time I back up is if I’m on a hill (I’ve lost two bales so far😂). I think a kicker is optional on Deere balers.
Other thing I noticed was how many grease fittings are on the NH vs. my old Deere. There seems to be a lot more rollers on the NH.
I should have patented the rubber belt idea, would’ve made hundreds of dollars.

This one has a bale ramp but they unintentionally left it off when it was in the shop. My salesman wasn't too thrilled about that when he noticed it. I had a couple that I kicked out that my dad said made him nervous but luckily none got away

@@mikep7810 I dropped one this year after I purposely backed up to a spot I thought was level, looked back and said “Where’s the bale?”. There was a 4’ hole in the tree line where the bale rolled. It’s still there.

Good job.. for first time round baling.. 😊. The baler looks really smart.. just remember when your up in the hay loft to look out for people below before dropping one of those round bales down 😉🤣. Can't wait to see the other balers your thinking about.. but obviously the supplier/parts is a big factor for making your choice.. stay safe sir 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Actually demoed a John Deere 450m last year and a New Holland rb450 and don't get me wrong I like the deer bailer but I would definitely demo a New Holland as well....me personally I ended up with the New Holland... I liked there header a lot better than the Deer but that was just my preference and I thought the New Holland was lot better of a bailer in wet hay than the Deer but again just my preference.... Is to its own deer bailers aren't bad but I would just be open to trying other brands 👍👍👍👍

Nice video. Look forward to your next demo. I run an RB450 and love the front wrap because you can see it move. Yeah there’s a sensor but I had wrap fail on my old Vermeer and dumped a mess on the ground so I love to see it’s going on the bale. Consider pre-bale maintenance and ease of hooking to tractor as part of your demo next time. More to baling than going round a field😉

One thing we found to do on those balers is to turn the jack around. Seems a few operators have jack knifed the baler while backing up and the bottom edge of the jack can put some nasty cuts in your rear tire > view 15:17 . Never used a flap in front of the hitch pin. Never had any problem with it. I imagine in days gone by a long hitch pin would ball up hay but this one will never do that. I've seen ours kick out a bale every 30 seconds on big fast windrows. You would have to stand on the brakes, dump and haul butt.

When we Creased row cropping Cotton and Peanuts and converted to Hay,,,,, Everything concerned was purchased New, We traded a striptill planter rig for a 450 silage special J D Baler exactly like the one purchased............. That was 6 years ago, the 2 original balers were sold, replaced with a 450 M and a 450R of which the 450R has been sold and the M is for sale........ Being replaced with 3- 190 XT krones........Simply because of the location of the Wide Green Band on the bales would cause confusion on the unroller table of the Rebaling opertion! We can use a more narrow width of Cover-Edge...which we buy from Deere.... by the 16-roll pallet....

We only baled about 96 bales with one at the end of last year.... On your 6101 PEQUEA Tedder, have you checked the operating linkage mounting and bushings that locks and unlocks the cart support wheels in the transport position ? Ours has eaten up the plastic bushings and the triangular swing and washer cut the rollpin, causing it to drop down, when it was folded or unfolded it bent the 1 1/4 pivot rod bolted to frame to bend rearward on both sides ??? I had to remove and use a shop press to straightnen,,,,,,, I replaced the bushings with 11/2 od,x11/4 id x11/4 long Bronze bushings ordered from Mcmaster- Carr..... Drilled and tapped for a 1/4x28 thread, extended zerk fitting, also ordered from Mcmaster Carr and loosened the mounting bolts to allow the sliding wheel lock some up and down movement,,, I have removed both axles to remove anti-wrap disc so a standard 6 hole 15 in implement rim and tire will work.....

I don't mind square baling, its stacking them in the hay mow that gets old fast. This was my first time ever round baling but I liked doing that too. I can definitely bale faster making round bales

If you bale on hills you’ll not want a bale kicker. Personally I like John Deere over other balers

Why do you have to back up so much? It doesn’t seem efficient?

I never round baled before and I didn't want the bales to get away from me on the hill. I'm sure with more seat time I'll be more efficient

@@mikep7810 Bare with me on this, would it be easier if you used the bigger square baler? Just curious cause we just had the smaller square baler. The bigger square balers wouldn’t roll away so it might be easier to use.

Buy a baler that has experienced technicians local to you, JD around me are incompetent at diagnosis and repair.

We are very fortunate that our JD dealership has a great service department.

@@mikep7810 Ours use to be be excellent as well when it was locally owned, it was sold to the corporate agency “Brandts” out of Canada, they cut costs for profit and lost all their experienced staff, the turn over of staff is incredible, you don’t know if you’ll get the person you ordered parts from 3 days earlier, the culture change was immediate and negative impacting support, warranty, service and replacement parts. The lack of leadership and management is just as much of a problem as the lack of technical training and experience.
We’re selling all our JD harvest equipment after this season and replacing it with an agent that offers support and customer service.
