Mannequin episode creeped me out when I was a kid. When I went to the mall I never looked at a mannequin the same again...
THAT show was brilliant.
Me tooooo! 😲😶
Seriously no mention of the William Shatner thing on the airplane wing??
@@pattimaeda6097 Was it really scary? Well except for Bill's over acting. Ha ha. Yep, classic. It was redone in the movie with John Lithgow.
We’re they new or reruns when you were a kid?
Telly Savalas with hair is almost as scary as the doll is.
I'm Talking Tina and I like you Rick and you'd better make more videos.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
@S White: I loved the episode but just as I hated the character played by Telly Savelas I hated the doll Talking Tina who also threatened the little girl's mother and I wanted that doll destroyed!!!
"The Howling Man" is pretty creepy to me.
One of the scariest Eps ever
Is that the one with Robin Hughes? He had a very interesting real life story. I know that from a tv show done before the T-Zone, One Step Beyond, because they do an episode about him and what happened to him and then they have an interview with the real Robin Hughes at the end. Sad story, but true and so good
Night Gallery was also a show that had many creepy thriller episodes. Also the made for tv movie of short stories-Trilogy of Terror. I will never forget that terrifying artifact chasing Karen Black around her apartment! 😣
I remember talking about Trilogy of Terror at college. Everyone had seen it as a kid, and everyone remembered it fondly (with a shudder!)
The Zuni fetish doll.
@@jackgrattan1447 Yes! Committing that to memory now
Yes! That was a very scary one!
Night Gallery also had an episode about a creepy, homicidal doll.
Not on your list is one of my favs -- A STOP AT WILLOUGHBY'S. Again, when on a train, I fight off another temptation to say NEXT STOP WILLOUGBY...
MsBackstager Yes! That’s a great episode
I love that one too Absolute classic
It's not creepy, though. It's got a happy ending. It's my favorite!
@@lazyhomebody1356 It's creepy in the way that he has to die to find happiness. Unless there really is life after death and he's ride of witch wife Janie.
@@MsBackstager He's IN Willoughby though, whether it's real or not...I think it's his heaven
THE HITCH-HIKER was the inspiration for the cult horror classic CARNIVAL OF SOULS and that snazzy car
was a '59 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser.
Yes, I noticed the comparison.
I thought that was a Mecury. My grandfather had a 1958 Mercury that he used as a daily driver well into the 1970s. Must have been a good car.
The car Inger Stevens is driving is a ‘59 Mercury Parklane four door hardtop. I’ve always wondered though why the car was missing its vent windows. 🤔
That would have been a new car at the time that was made so it’s interesting that it was rigged that way.
Plastiksurgeon See, now I thought it was a ‘59 Mercury Montclair. I tend to the guy who looks for more Ford, Mercury & Lincoln classics at car shows because the amount of GM cars present (although I love many of them as well) as opposed to Ford is usually about a 7:1 ratio. Even more uncommon are Desotos, Plymouth’s, Dodges, Chryslers, etc. I’ve seen more Packards at some shows than I’ve seen Chrysler products.
Continental Aquatics
That could have been a Montclair.....but seeing it was a four door hardtop, I was thinking a Parklane. I’m VERY familiar with that car as I was nearly run over by one of those as a little kid back in the early ‘60’s! 😵
That front end was unforgettable even though at the time I had no idea what kind of car it was. 😉
What's even creepier is that gas was $.27.9 per gallon back in 1960 as Inga Stevens was driving along.
and a Hershey bar was a nickel...the good old days when $15k could buy you a BRAND NEW three bedroom house..
That was about $2.50 in 2019 dollars.
Yeah but don't forget we were only making around $1.00 an hour if that.
Simply $.279
The extra decimal is not needed.
@@danielthomas791 Thank you Federal Reserve Corporation for destroying our purchasing power.
What!!! I was expecting Billy Mumy to be #1 for 'It's a Good Life'. That show was creepy.
Me too! Still creeps me out to this day.
Absolutely!! A funny anecdote about the effect of that one episode: we had a horrible boss at work, I’ll call ‘Lori’. She would just capriciously fire people, often people that upstaged her or illustrates her deep incompetence. We hired an ‘outside’ consultant to examine our internal problems and someone, in a high visibility meeting, invoked this episode as it related to Lori. That ‘got legs’ right up to the ‘top’ as a few big ‘decision makers’ remembered the horrific episode. Lori was subsequently fired and we believe that citing the episode and her similarities obsoleted the need for specific documentation and hastened her demise....we nicknamed her Antonia Fremont !!
that episode is #1 on my list
William Shatner described the Twilight Zone as having a wealth of creativity and no budget,I like your choices but I find the cornfield episode creepy to the point I don't watch it anymore
Ewwwwwww. That Creepy Talky Tina voice... sent shivers up my spine.... The ultimate creep out.
This one really scared the life out of me... I had older sisters. They loved terrorizing me... Saying that one of their dolls would tell my mother something I had done to get me in trouble.
When on an airflight, I fight off the temptation to say ROOM FOR ONE MORE HONEY....
MsBackstager That was the creepiest one for me!! Jeez!!
🤣
I’m not sure if it was Twilight Zone but I remember a episode of a program with William Shatner and he was on an airplane in a window seat and a devilish demon was appearing on the wing of the plane. I was always scared when I watched that one.
Jo Ann Lewis Yes, it was a Twilight Zone episode. It was called “Nightmare At 20,000 Feet”.
The voice of the talking Tina doll was June Foray who notably provided the voices of Cindy Lou Who, as well as Rocky the flying Squirrel!
Creepiest IMO is the episode where a woman going on a trip but her doppleganger shows up haunting her at the bus station. You have a good list though. I've only seen 22 once but I can barely remember the ending. I'll have to watch again.
Hi Rick. The Twilight Zone series is my all time favorite. One of my favorites ( the title excapes me at the moment) is with Agnes Moorhead and she is alone in a house when t would small aliens crash there Space Craft into her attic. Truly suspenseful.
The Invaders
Rick yes I agree with all your top 5 and honorable mention of these Twlight Zone episodes. All excellent acting, writing, and directing. Rod Sterling was a genius man.👍✌💖
The episode that sent chills through me, was the one, where death kept trying to get in.
Classic 5 creepy episodes! The one in the wax museum scared the crap out of me, when I was a kid. It definitely gave me nightmares. I would also add the other episode with Bil Mumy entitled "It's A Good Life"
The story is wonderful too. It's by Jerome Bixby
I think Billy Mumy's last name is pronounced "MOOmy" but whatever. Great video as always, thanks. Staying hopeful here!
I used to watch TZ at night and was always nervous because I never new what was going to happen
Billy Mumy best as Anthony ..controling the town...sending pepl to the cornfield if they have bad thoughts...
and another episode.. old woman afraid of death..w Robert Redford
Agnes Moorehead episode w no dialogue
nazi returning to concentration camp really important episode
Cliff Robertson ventriloquist w smart dummy
and so many more:)
thx Rick!
so many ..twilight zone half hrs best
1 h
I just posted Anthony as the creepiest!
@@brianarbenz7206 yes!
I just wanted to kill Anthony myself!
The plot for this was obviously conceived to mirror the wish for magical power that all kids want against adults and bullies.
Barbara Nichols was memorable in SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS as Tony Curtis' long suffering secretary,
and in WHERE THE BOYS ARE, as a swimming mermaid at a tiki bar.
Talking Tina is voiced by famed cartoon voice June Foray.
She was also the voice of Chatty Cathy.
I think she was also the voice of Rocky the Squirrel from Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons.
Twilight Zone is one of the most unique shows around. I’m glad you talked about the show again Rick. This is a great video.
Glad you enjoyed it, Jared!
Ha!!! All good ones that kept me awake at night when I was a little kid.
Your honorable mention was spot on!
My favorite Twilight Zone episode is "Jeopardy Room", with Martin Landau
This show was Amazing to watch as a kid. Thanks for sharing Rick❣️
No matter my age or how many times I watch it, Night Call always leaves me feeling unsettled and is the creepiest episode for me of the entire series. Thank you for this and happy it was included on the list. I’m not alone lol
THE NIGHT CALL was directed by Jacques Tourneur, who directed horror classics like CAT PEOPLE,
I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE, and CURSE OF THE DEMON, and the film noir classic OUT OF THE PAST.
Great list Rick, but for me my favorite episode is Living Doll Plus your number 3 selection is actually a plot from a very famous Hollywood film starring Barbara Stanwyck Sorry Wrong Number... by the way I don't remember if you said that you are a fan of Alfred Hitchcock and wondered if you watched any of his films or his television series which is one of the best ever....
My faves of his are: Rope, Psycho, North by Northwest
Very good video and excellent choices for the episode picks. Keep up the great work
Rick! I didn’t even know Dr. Bellows and Darin Stephens did an episode together! Great post. Hope we get a live chat this weekend. 👍
The Dummy is the episode that freaks me out because of a real experience I had with one as child.
I was never a fan of Twilight Zone as a kid because it creeped me out. I must admit though, there were so many big stars, or soon to be big stars, in many episodes. The filming was top notch and it really seems like a genre unto itself. I know fans of the series and they are into the show as much as Trekies. I may have to start looking at these again now that I’m not a kid anymore. Thanks for making this video, Rick.
The Twilight Zone is what got me hooked on scary movies. The creepiest one of all was the one with Roddy McDowell and his uncles grave.
That was Night Gallery movie. Yes it was very creepy.
@@TomokoAbe_ Oh yes!!! You're right. Now that I think of it. It was Rod Serlings Night Gallery. Thanks!
@@lauragriffin6512 Night gallery had some good ones also, one episode that I loved was one where a women gets lost, and goes up to a house, where everything was modern and futuristic, there was a radio playing , which had some weird music. anyway the catch was, that the person in the house was her son and she was in the future.
what made me remember this episode was the "strange" music that played on that radio, which was actually ahead of it's time, it was techno !
Great choices brother
I agree ROOM 22 (Room for one more!) was very creepy. Arlene Martell as the lady in the morgue was neat. She played T'Pring, Spock's fiancee, in the Star Trek TOS episode Amok Time.
Talking Tina also sent shivers up my spine. It kinda had you wondering until the end of the episode IF the doll really was alive OR did Telly Savalas make it up in his mind. By the way, the voice of Talking Tina was performed by lovely June Foray who ALSO was the voice of Rocky Squirrel from Bullwinkle fame as well as the voice of Cindy Lou Who from the animated classic "How The GRINCH Stole Christmas"!
Your channel is officially my favorite! Twilight Zone, The Three Stooges and classic tv shows from the 50’s and 60’s! You sir rock!!!
Night call! Wasn't a big deal when I saw the beginning, BUT when they showed the dropped phone line, lying on top of her dead boyfriend's grave? Augh!😱 That was creepy. For the longest time, I'd jump when my parent's rotary dial phone rang! And no...
back then, there was no such thing as caller I.D. Lol!
Rick, thank you for doing an episode on the Twighlight Zone! That was one of my favorite old TV shows as well. I loved most of the episodes and I look forward every year for the New Years Eve Twighlight Zone marathon on TV. A lot of celebrities got their start on The Twighlight Zone, Dick York, Elizabeth Montgomery, Bill Mummy, Agnes Moorehead, David White and several others. Great job Rick and I look forward to seeing more Twighlight Zone coverage. 🤗👍
Room for one more Rick! All great picks. You need to check out another channel on CZcams called Hollywood Graveyard: The Twilight Zone Special. Arthur Dark does an amazing show on the graves of people involved with the original TZ. I would love to hear what you think about it. Take care buddy.
Loved them all ! Thanks, you do a great job !
Excellent video! What a wonderful series Twilight Zone was. I think filming in black and white also adds tithe creepy feeling.
#3 was the creepiest for me, but I thought the ending was great. The phone line going down into the grave gave me goosebumps.
All the episodes scared me when I was young.
This was really good Rick.
June Foray voiced Talky Tina.
And Chatty Cathy, her not-evil twin...
True..she did!
She did Ricky the Squirrel too.
Twilight Zone went above and beyond getting a real doll voice!
@@jchavez53 Or his twin Rocky the flying Squirrel! :)
Glad you are doing this on Twilight Zone. Love this show. I would have out #5 at #1
Twilight Zone episodes are all creepy n or scary . Great list. They never get old. Good list for sure Rick.🙄😱
I love Twilight Zone! It's the TV show that sparked my love of creative writing. One thing, though... When I was doing time at Radio Shack in L.A. Billy Mumy would come in, sometimes with his two kids. He was a laid back, easy-going individual, as were his kids. But he made it clear to me that his name is pronounced "Moomy, Moomy," when I first met him. He was cool about it and said he got "Mummy" all the time. Just a little tidbit. Great video! :)
Excellent job Rick as usual! The only correction I would suggest is one of pronunciation Bill Mumy is pronounced “moo me”. He’s been pretty adamant about that through the years and I just thought I’d let you know LOL excellent excellent job on this video though I agree with everyone of them that you’ve chosen!
Glad to know that! I've been watching Lost in Space on MeTv and I love it
Hi 😁,
I think it's soooo cute when you say hi guys and gals. I love your channel, THANKS for the entertainment!
Ppl can be so different. I find the repetitive Hi guys and gals very irritating. I would prefer different creative greetings, like with friends. I do love his videos though.
Of course I would watch this just before going to bed lol. One of my favorite shows. Thank you!
I love the #1 pick. #3 picks ending was a shock to me. All in all your picks were great. I have all 5 seasons plus original hour long videos.
My 10 for weird (should be to 200):
10. The Sixteen mm Shrine
9. What You Need
8. Elegy
7. A Stop at Willoughby
6. The After Hours
5. A World of His own
4. The Obsolete Man
3. One More Pallbearer
2. A Piano in the House
1. On Thursday We Leave
For Home.
Most ironic: A Short Drink from a Certain Fountain.
Most Satisfying: The Masks.
That is a good start... LOL
Great picks ! All five episodes were ones which I would have chosen.
rick nineg of COURSE Twilight Zone... Dude I'm 39 and ever since I was a kid I've been into series, films and music well before my time and it's refreshing and exciting to not only see a younger person today doing the same but have him also share that passion with others! Bravo, man! Love your channel and your tastes! Keep up the great work!
I appreciate the support in this! Always good to see fans of the show
Great list! Agree on 22, also videotaped.
I really enjoyed this!
Great list, Rick. I've seen them all, but I don't remember the Room 22 episode.
In the first episode you highlighted, Rick, the scene at the gas station pump was very earth shattering. The small sign in the background indicated gas was .32 cents a gallon. Yikes!
I noticed that too.....and remember those prices as well!😦
William Shatner was great in Nightmare at 20,000 Feet. He saved everyone on the plane and got sent to the funny farm as his reward.
I do agree that these are all creepy episodes. There are two others I can think of that are creepy (at least to me). “The After Hours”, which also involves mannequins, and “You Drive”, which involves an old car that seems to think and come to life. The Hitch-Hiker and Living Doll are two of my favourite episodes. I re-watched them recently.
Rick, I am happy you praised Gladys Cooper. She was a vastly underrated actress who never got a starring role in films. She headlines my fave TZ ep: Nothing in the Dark.
My vote for creepiest TZ ep is The After Hours. To this day, the scene of Anne Francis on the floor of the dept store that has only one saleslady, as well as only one item for sale, gives me the shivers.
"It's a Good Life" I'd really unsettling to me
Enjoyed this video enough to cause me to take a look at the episodes you mentioned. I recall the Telly Savalas episode very well, the Inger Stevens one a little less so, but the others I have no recollection of whatsoever. I really shied away from the hour long episodes produced that one year because I felt the quality was just not up to par, but I'll give the museum one a try.
I’m happy to hear this. Please come back and let me know what you think of the museum episode. I love it so much and slow pace but the buildup and final reveal is epic. The spiral of the story is great
Rod Serling really brought out the true meaning of creepy when it came to dolls....Talking Tina, but The Ventriloquist's dummy was creepy to perfection. OMG that gave me nightmares!
After viewing this ep as a child, I thought that all of my dolls in my room would come alive.
Thanks for doing the TZ!
My pleasure!
Fun Trivia on #3 Night Call it was Originally scheduled to air on November 22, 1963, it was preempted by John F. Kennedy's assassination. So it finally aired on February 7, 1964 the day the Beatles arrived in the United States.
The hitch hiker creeped me out and still does to no end... sends shivers up my spine, the way he looked, nothing evil but the actress stopping to make phone calls, i always wished she would go to a city and get help from people but they had her driving back roads at night and that hitch hiker there all along the way!!!! Creepy!!!
You nailed it Rick. I got creeped out just wstching this. I never saw 22. The one that i can't watch anymore is the Hitchhiker. Inger Stevens acting is so real and the story so strange I just can't go there again.
Good! I was hoping my video and descriptions would freak people out a little with certain images. I’d hope people start watching the episodes 😎
The actor Telly Savallis from #4 had an actual real life ghostly encounter that was terrifying... I urge anyone reading this to search for it.
The Hitchhiker scares me the most. Being followed by someone only you can see is my worst nightmare.
"The Hitch Hiker!" I could never find what series this episode emanated from. Thanks for the 411 on this. It was a terrific episode. My favorites were ( in no particular order) are the episode in which Agnes Morehead played a woman who could not speak, when aliens land on the roof of her house. Her acting is spectacular. And what a shocking ending... I also loved the episode where a woman is suffering because the Earth is coming closer and closer to the sun. I think that Lois Nettleton was in that episode, and again, the ending is a shocker. My all time favorite might be the one where an elderly woman has barricaded her home to protect her from Mr. Death. Robert Redford is in this episode, and it is one of the best television episodes ever. It made my cry. The William Shatner episode, where a creature is trying to do damage to an airplane that he is riding in is a given as a classic episode. The Swimming Pool episode is also great. Two children have parents that hate each other and want to get a divorce. they jump into their swimming pool and come up in a different land, where all of the children are happy. They eventually feel as though they need to go back home, but once they see that their parents are making life miserable for them and each other, they go back into the pool and permanently live in this other land that they had come up from under the water. I have many more to write about (I am sure), but it has been years since I have seen a Twilight Zone episode. Maybe I will dedicate myself to binge watching the entire series, which I have on DVD, to name other all time favorites
Great list of episodes! All good ones
I go way back with TZ, all the way back to its first run, and I can't believe how young I was watching this sometimes very creepy show. On CZcams there are many TZ related videos and I think you're one of the best commentators. Even when I would choose different episodes as creepy, for example, I enjoy your discussion. I'll just add that my personal favorite TZ episode, and for me the creepiest, is the highly underrated "And When the Sky was Opened". I love how weird and unsettling it is; how fate seems to be catching up with these guys and nothing can stop it. The acting is great too. I certainly understand why you'd find "22" so creepy, but the way.
The Dummy, maple street, midnight sun and the one where the little boy could read minds and banish people to the cornfields... I forget the name🤔
I believe the Old Twilight Zone series puts more fear in you because it let's your mind draw conclusions instead of a bunch of blood and gore. I'm surprised you didn't choose the Howling man...that's the one I can't watch again.
Exactly! Everything happens on your brain with imagination vs on screen
I watched the Twilight Zone as a child & all episodes creeped me out. I'd get scared & have nightmares but I still was fascinated! Now as an adult, the nightmares & fear are gone but the creepiness is still there,. Thanks Rick for another great video!!
Great choices!
all these episodes were creepy for sure and I have to agree that ''22'' was really disturbing the first time I watched it years ago and it still holds up well to this day. I thought that the doctor in this episode played by jonathan harris was really weird and strange and made this episode all the more creepy! nothing like his character on lost in space. thanks again for another great video!
I loved the other Billy Mumy episode when he sent people into the ''cornfield'' after knowing what they were really thinking! Oh, they were mostly all good episodes! Rod Serling himself was creepy as the host of this series!
One of the ones I loved (because of being creepy) since I was a child was the one about the little girl falling off the bed during the night and disappearing into the wall. Her father goes in after her and pulls her back out. That one just seemed so real to me.
I remember that one. To me, that one was super fun. It was scientific and seemed advanced to the idea or wormholes etc
@@ricknineg Reminded me of the movie Poltergeist.
I saw this in your playlist and I had to watch it. 0:46 is that Hayden Roarke on the left? He was in I Dream of Jeannie
Mom told me of the episode that was like number 3 or it might be that one... She told me in a way that creeped me out and I hadn't even seen it. When she said the ending was where the Telephone line was down and landed in a Graveyard but it landed on the Old Lady's Husbands Grave 😲😨🤯
It's been so long since Içve seen them, I'll have to seek them out! Thanks!
It's a good life was one of my favorites, a little boy preytray a monster that take over a town called pecksville... You better not be thinking bad thoughts about me or else off to the corn field and Nothing in the dark with Robert Redford and Gladis well put together
Your #1 has the fabulous Jonathan Harris(Dr. Zachary Smith) from Lost In Space.
Danger Will Robinson!
@@billkeithchannel: You deplorable dummy! You nickel plated nincompoop! Silence you jabbering jezebel! I'll attend to you later!.....
@@billkeithchannel: I forgot: you bubble-headed booby.
I am _such_ a TZ fan (but I’m a black-and-white snob...the later color versions made without Mr. Serling are...to me...but sad wannabe knockoffs). I have seen each and every B&W episode at least 10 times each, and I NEVER grow bored with them. To be completely honest, a small few of the old episodes are definitely a swing-and-a-miss, but I’ll still watch them, of course!
Just a chance to put my two cents in, it’s so difficult for me to pick one or a few of my faves, but the one that stands out right now for me is the 30th episode in Season 3, titled _Hocus-Pocus and Frisby_ starring the man whose voice I can never get enough of, Andy Devine, as the biggest liar in the world (and ALMOST the universe). Pair him with Howard McNair (aka Floyd the Barber from TAGS) and Dabbs Greer (the Reverend from the Little House series) and this is simply a delight to watch! It was also originally aired in 1962 (which is my year of birth)!
BTW, I must agree wholeheartedly with your choices, Rick, and I thank you for bringing up this subject!
That was a very atypical casting for Barbara Nichols. Sad story to her life. I always liked her performances.
I noticed that a lot of these young actresses have unfortunately short lives. It is truly sad to think about
Barbara and Joi Lansing both died young(Lansing from breast cancer). Both were the new Marilyn Monroe.
I think ring a ding girl should be on ur list it is two creepy, love watching ur channel!
Twilight Zone and One Step Beyond scared the crap out of me when I was little-THANKS RICK for traumatizing me again! 😫
The Hitchhiker is my most creepiest, hands down! Just watching these shots made my skin crawl. And at the end when he says, "Going my way?" Gives me the creeps just thinking about it!
If it were my list, I'd exchange 2 and 3. A cold shiver went up my spine when the caller was revealed. And the Grave would be in there, too.
I saw the episode with Inger Stevens a few years ago, and yes, it REALLY creeped me out. And of course the episode where William Shatner sees "something" on the wing of the airplane....is right up there for Creepy Crown.
I think that the neatest thing that Rod Serling did with this show was his look at both sides of a situation. Agnes Morehead sees tiny space invaders on her roof in one episode. In another episode there are space invaders that make earthlings look tiny when the earthlings land on a strange planet.
BTW, lucky Bill Mumy, manages to get several roles and turns them into cult classics/fan favorites.
Bravo, Mr Mumy.
For #3 seeing where the phone line was scared the hell out of me for days when I was a kid.
One of my favorite shows of ALL time
As far as existential dread, nothing for me beats "And When the Sky Was Opened." That one does a number on me.
I never seen 22 I must see it now thanks for sharing 😊
Love old TZ and those episodes. Have you seen the TZ that aired in the 80s or 90s? OMG this one i saw on youtube “The Examination” that was my top creepiest TZ
Room 22 is me and my sister’s favorite episode of all time!! I think it inspired a 2000s movie that I won’t name so that I don’t spoil it for anyone, but I think you know what I’m talking about. One that’s not mentioned here but I thought was hands down creepy, was the episode where the woman was trying to catch a bus but was left in the bus station only to find out there’s something not quite right. Creeped me the *insert curse word* out!! Great list!!
Such a creepy episode 22 is
