I’m glad you haven’t gotten rid of the gain cell design of the volume control. It’s what gives the Stellar such great dynamics at low level playback
It is the best volume control that I have experienced when compared to the Schiit volume control on the Freya S. I also prefer PS Audio gain cell volume control than the one used by Wyred4Sound on their STP preamp which I used to own.

I worked at a full service Standard (Amoco/BP) gas station in the 80's in Detroit. I used to have a factory worker come by with his Cadillac every other Friday on payday. Leroy Washington would tell me he wanted the best. Fill it up with the gold. I want the gold!
This is great for people that can spend $4,000 on a preamplifier. I wish you all would have removed the DAC from the Stellar Gain Cell DAC and added 1 or 2 more XLR inputs. That is my dream preamplifier. I really like the sound of the Stellar Gain Cell DAC, which I own, but I do not use its DAC, I use external DACs and I really could use 1 or 2 more XLR inputs. 🙂

For some reason I believe that Darren produced something good in the new Stellar Gold range.
My guess is that he over performed for the Stellar brand so the Gold moniker was invented to manufacture a price point closer to the 'Perfect Wave' price tag that he came too close for comfort performance wise.
But is seems I'll never know. I can't find PS Audio at the Toronto Audio Fest show in my home town. And when I look at their list of distributors, they list PS Audio but don't actually feature them.

Butt you haven’t described the turning of either the preamp or DAC. More neutral? More tube like? More bass bias? Wonderful looking pieces. I have the your high end transport-exceeds more expectations in a very high end system.
Perfect - Two inputs (I only need one but an extra just in case) and TWO outputs. It’s about time. Great for bi-amping, experimenting, or for us dinosaurs with old Infinitys, two balanced outputs for our required two power amps. But what’s better, a new Stellar gold or used BHK?

What is the Bhks, cand find it
A big problem I have experienced with all op amp ic. is that they ruin the sound. There is always less detail in bright frequencies and the sound becomes less detailed.
I use Alps potentiometer and different pre-amplifier pcb with and without capacitor on input and output.
The sound always gets worse! with the preamplifier in the chain!
Damn I thought it'd be like $2,200 bucks or something... lol 🤑

The problem with equipment in my mind is the look of it. It doesn't look look like High End. It looks cheap. I want knobs on my equipment.
You are right. New stuff looks so cheap. I like things that look high end. If you some crook brought this to me I probably would think it was a $100 part. I wish they would start making retro equipment like they have been doing with cars for last 15 years or so. Now that would be something cool.

Why not just make all at the higher end so you can make and sell more at lower price.
Thanks for selling reasonable POS notes. Usually it’s the BS lines on a white page, that literally mean nothing, and never preform what they say in application. Too bad the band is gold plated, although you couldn’t hear the difference.😂
