    i’ve actually obsessed with my dead stick plant because the way it drips down the side and trails all the way down the side of my plant shelf is kind of weird but kind of cool. It ends up also changing color from green to purple to brown so anyway, it’s just one of my favorites.

The little plant you showed first is quite common here and yes it does have those amazing colours. I have never heard of them being grown by seed. Good luck with that. I didn't think I would like the "dead stick" plant but when I found one at a favorite nursery of mine, I bought it. I love it. And the new growth is like tiny little green fingers that turn brown as they get older. It's in a hanging basket and some of the limbs(?) are over a foot long. I recommend if you like unusual plants. 😊❤

    Festival season cactus! lol
    More of a Ross plant, Oxalis trianguluaris, if you really like butterfly looking plants! Or Oxalis triangularis Atropurpurea
    When they flower, they have dainty little flowers that look like flowers flocking to butterflies, instead of the reverse
    Oxalis corymbosa aureo-reticulata
    May be a fun one for you. You really enjoy the difference in the color of the leaf and the veins

    Mammillaria matudae are common but they will not look like that for most people. They often just end up floppy and with irregular growth due to long periods of little to no sun during fall and winter. The spination also isn’t as good. They are also a pain to grow in a pot, because they naturally grow on top of rocks, so when they don’t have rocks to lie down on, they just start drooping and growing downwards, like a monkey tail cactus. Most stores also sell the, either individually or in small clusters often of just three. They look much better when you have a lot of them, so they can lie on top of each other and don’t look as droopy.

    • @Tony.795
      @Tony.795 Před měsícem

      They need a rest period in cool temperatures and no water and ideally a spot outside during the growth season. Tropical cacti would be better suited for indoor cultivation if there is a very sunny window.

  • @viktoriabackeus7610
    @viktoriabackeus7610 Před měsícem +1

    I have an Euphorbia platyclada, it have not been a fast growing plant in my care x) But they are charming in their own way :>
    Pelargonium cotelydonis, P. gibbosum, P. tetragonum, P. tomentosa and P. quinquelobatum , I still have gibbosum and tetragonum in my collection. P. gibbosum have yellow flowers that smell like banana in the evening and early mornings but is scentless during the day and night. P. tetragonum can grow super (like 2-3+ meters) long and have pretty large flowers. P. quinquelobatum is pretty boring as a plant but the flower is a nightmare to photograph because the same flower look white, pink, gray, blue, yellow in different pictures depending on the light, use of flash, background etc.
    Rhipsalis have lots of pretty and weird ones. Dischidia nummularia 'Pangolin Kisses' was one of my weirdest ones thus far, but mine recently died. And an all time WL that I've never got my hands on is Oxalis palmifrons.

    Honestly another group of weird plants I would recommend is the order of Selaginellales or more specifically; the family Selaginellaceae. They are very ancient plants that are more related to ferns than most other plants, but are not true ferns. There are many colourful species like; "Selaginella Uncinata" or "Selaginella Erythropus" and the resurrection plant. (Selaginella Lepidophylla).

    Loved this list, got some cool inspo! Definitely remember the globby keychains and earrings as a kid. Super sad you’ll miss your gymno bloom but really cool that it’s blooming for you! I know you mentioned with a few of them wanting to access seeds, if you have someone you can have watch your gymno while you’re away they can pollinate it for you if both flowers open at the same time and maybe you could get some seeds! I have a few of them that should hopefully flower this year and I can’t wait to see if I can get seeds!

    Thank you for a lovely video!! Adding some more suggestions for the crazy plants :) So here we go: Pleiospilos Nelii (amazing plant, I wish it would be possible to add pictures here!), Conophytum Pageae (they also have beautiful small flowers that open up at night, very easy to care!), Crassula Umbella and Crassula Buddha's Temple (although as they grow bigger they become less nice, could get elongated unfortunately). Then Ceropegia Dichotoma and Ceropegia Bosseri or Ampliata - the odd ones :), Tephrocactus Alexanderi or Articulatus var. Papyracanthus with their unusual spikes, Alluaudia or Ceraria are also super weird! From beautiful weirdos: Monadenium Ritchiei variegated (my joy! It's funny looking but really beautiful), Echeveria Trumpet Pinky, Begonia sp. Miri (imho better than Darthvaderiana), Manihot Grahamii (the leaf form is just wow!)
