      Hey, I have a question.
I want to stop using electronics as often but the issue is that it’s the only time I get to interact with friends often. Usually they’re too tired in school to fully converse with and I only have them for a single period. So our usual method is chatting over phone and calling after school. What should I do? Practice to start looking out for myself more?

Just sitting through this entire video was hard. Its like my brain recoils from anything designed to disrupt the way it operates. I'm trying to study for a series of certifications I need to get this job I want but I feel like I'm too far gone. Not making much meaningful progress and by the time I pick it back up again, I've forgotten some of what I learned previously which is also discouraging. Immediate gratification always wins the day over achieving long term goals.

You're so right! I've noticed that I am sluggish and dull on days when I browse IG in the morning. And I get less accomplished on those days. I've been trying to relegate 30 minutes to browse IG in the evenings, but the great thing is that when it gets to that time, more often than not, I feel the drive to read a book or cook or solve a puzzle instead. I don't need another hit of dopamine!

1:45 : Back in the days of magazines, it was called the “Cosmo Effect”. Cosmopolitan, a women’s magazine, constantly sent out a message - a fake one - that the women in the magazine achieved more than you. Social media - and television - do this as well. The more of this you cut out (or selectively watch), the better off you will be. And keep that journal or tracker to remind yourself that you’re not doing badly, either! Thanks for the video!

    Summary:
The video discusses how to trick your brain into liking hard things. The speaker talks about feeling discouraged or frustrated when others talk about their productivity, while you struggle with simple tasks. The speaker suggests that the reason behind this could be the high dopamine tolerance level in your brain. Dopamine is what makes you desire things and boosts your mood, motivation, and attention. Social media addiction involves broken reward pathways in our brains. The video suggests strategies to balance out dopamine levels, such as cutting out all social media for one day a week, focusing on your breath, taking a break, and doing something creative. By using these strategies, you can trick your brain into liking hard things and become more productive.

    unfortunately it doesn't hv any
it doesn't hv bcos done it & doesn't work
rationalising it is not the answer
if it was then we'd no problems
everybody knows all the key things you a good life
to me the answer comes from dopamine
get it from other sources ...
good sources ... like when you help others
    when you recycle
when you park for free or cheap far away & walk to mtg ... etc
    make it your own baby
    own it
    all mothers experience this
they become the loving, busiest, focused, efficient creature after their own ...
no more rational intellectual exercise on what is good ...
Must Get to Action ... baby has needs to be met 😁

I doubt this. We eat cookies due to quick higher amount of calories. When is life ever so simple to be "dopamine". Life is complex, there's many reason technology is used.
As somebody who recently started my tech career, I spend 10 hours a day on screens. Yet I've now started reading books and I've moved to stretching more.
Surely I'd be put off reading books? Nothing is a simple as dopamine😂

There is also other stuff. Trauma can predispose people to have a strong dopamine response. Also as we age we are better able to self regulate if we've been taught the basics when younger especially if it's been rolemodelled to us (saying this as someone who finally got into exercise in her 40s despite it being really hard because of my disability)

Realy one sided story in this video. I tryed this path and is good for a while in life but after that what that gets you is you combat the things you did more and more and they become less interesting until you find nothing to make you happy, you just don't care anymore for anything, is gona be a routine in the day to day life, the goals you want to acchieve will be harder and harder until you figure out that not all goals can be achievable and that most of the things in life you can not control. When you find out this you will care less and less.
