  • Indigo is a natural Ayurvedic plant-based dye(vegan that is used with henna to color hair reddish-brown, brown, dark brown, and up to black tones, and it covers greys! In this video, henna and indigo hair coloring expert Khadija is showing you how to properly mix your indigo for optimal results.
    REMEMBER:
    1. Indigo can only be mixed with warm to hot distilled water and some aloe vera powder for moisture (only a small amount is needed).
    2. Salt is optional as some claim it helps the indigo stick better to their hair strands.
    3. Indigo only needs 20-30 minutes for dye release and it's ready to use.
    4. Do NOT use Indigo alone! It MUST be used with henna either as a 1-step process by mixing it with henna, or as a 2-step process after applying a henna treatment.

Indigo does different things to different types and color of hair.
I suggest collecting your loose hair from you brush/comb (and maybe even your shower drain). Then experiment with that hair and the indigo.
On my dark brown hair, it takes all the reddish highlights out and darkens/dulls it On my grey (almost white) hair, it starts off blue/green for about 24-48 hours, then turns purple.
I've read that with some people it stays green.

So first mix henna let sit 2-4 hours.. then separately mix indigo about 20 min before readyto use.. then mix the two together?? You didn't actually say about mixing the two ..I'm guessing it just has to be well mixed. I used to add cinnamon for added fragrance and ruby color. Have you ever tried that?

Indigo does different things to different types and color of hair.
I suggest collecting your loose hair from you brush/comb (and maybe even your shower drain). Then experiment with that hair and the indigo.
On my dark brown hair, it takes all the reddish highlights out and darkens/dulls it On my grey (almost white) hair, it starts off blue/green for about 24-48 hours, then turns purple.
I've read that with some people it stays green.

Aisha, if I may make a suggestion - you should list your steps so she can troubleshoot; for instance - are you applying the color to dry hair that hasn’t been washed in a few days, freshly washed hair that was dry before dyeing; hair that you washed a day before or freshly washed wet hair? Did you apply any oil to your hair or hairline? How much henna did you use, and how long did you let it develop? Did you use cold, warm, hot or boiling water to mix henna or indigo? How much indigo did you use and how long did you let it develop? How long did you leave henna on your hair? How long you leave indigo on your hair? Did you cover your hair tightly? How long after rinsing the henna out of your hair, did you apply the indigo?

@@kimariokiji Okay, so Day 1 - I shampoo my hair and soak henna for overnight, Day 2 - I apply 1:1 henna (soaked overnight) + indigo (mix with hot water and let it sit for 15-20 mins and then combine with henna, soaked), I wear shower cap, keep the pack for 3-4 hours and rinse with normal water no shampoo, Day 3 - I apply indigo ( mix with hot water and let it sit for 15-20 mins and apply all over my hair), cover it with shower cap, keep it for again 3-4 hours and rinse with normal water no shampoo..... I do not do anything else with my hair for next 5 days after that I do oiling and shampoo my hair next day and then here comes the maroon red tone on my hair.
      Thanks in advance!

Can i use indigo as body art? like henna or jagua

    • @HennaSooq
      @HennaSooq  Před 4 měsíci

Yes, indigo can be used for body art, particularly in the form of natural henna tattoos or body painting. Indigo is often mixed with henna to create various shades of blue and green, and it's commonly used in traditional and cultural body art practices. However, it's essential to ensure that you're using high-quality, safe indigo specifically intended for body art, as some industrial or synthetic forms may contain additives that could be harmful to the skin. Always perform a patch test before applying any new substance to a large area of skin to check for any adverse reactions.
