Back in 1995 I flew on the "Florence Nightingale" KLM MD-11 from Calgary to Amsterdam, I swear it was the smoothest flight I'd ever taken. The acceleration down the runway and seemingly effortless take off was simply incredible. What an airplane.

I like both planes, although the MD-11 looks better.
I found this record sensational, because it puts together two memorable moments of aviation! The two taxing together was an inexplicable emotion! The old and the modern together!! MD 11 It's just charming. It's my favorite plane in my heart! For its history, its particularity and above all; your longevity! A380 needs no introduction!! Giant yet smooth!! One of the most amazing videos I've seen in recent times!!

Yes :( they are also the last airliner that still uses MD-11 as passenger airplane :( the last flight will take place in October. After october. MD-11s and DC-10s are only in cargo use ;(

Not exactly comparable. The MD-11 is quite a bit smaller, so the wind will have much more of an affect on it.

I thought the MD-11 and A380 going to takeoff a parallel for a race. But no, I was realized the ATC tell the MD-11 to go takeoff first before the A380 took off, but yeah, it was super great video! Awesome!

Absolutely love the MD-11, it's a wonderful looking bird. It has character and masculinity, compared to the 380 that looks like a bloated Beluga whale.
As a (not much of a A380 fan tho) Airbus fan, I have to tell you that last sentence will start WWIII

Mcdonneldouglas started a MD-12 project in the 90s that was going to be a similar plane to the A380. But they received no orders on it so they cancelled it. Then they had ideas on making a bigger MD-11 that were cancelled to in 1996 and then boeing took over :( so this is a bit like a vision/example on how MD-11 and MD-12 next to each other.

Yes, if Boeing continued in the project MD 12, maybe today they would be in a totally different situation. Too bad that Boeing did not invent the double-decker aircraft, pattern they had!
MDD/s main error was to try and save money by improving the old DC10 wing instead of developing a new supercritical one for the 11. This would have avoided the performance problems that haunted its first few years and tanked sales. Anyway, the reliability of the newer super-engines used by the 777 were going to finish off the trijets sooner or later.
Sobelou not just trijets, the quadjets are pretty doomed too.

I believe the first error was when they backed out of the joint project with Airbus. Which called for using wings of the A330/340.
And the fuselage of the DC-10. with twin engines.
But instead decided to stick with their tri heritage.

Flew on PAL's MD-11 from Seoul to Manila in March 1997, was one of the smoothest ride ever.
@Jie Andaya Yes they did have at least one in their fleet in the 1990's. I know as me & my family flew in one (as mentioned by me above). Our regularly scheduled flight from Seoul to Manila got disrupted when we had to divert to a US military base due to heavy fog and by the time we got to Gimbo, our Korean Air 747-400 flight to Manila had already left. PAL then flew in their MD-11 (since the majority of the passengers in our LAX to Seoul flight were Filipinos). So yes, PAL did have the MD-11 in their fleet.

it was great to see it happen for me the first time to see two planes this big lineup like this.
I spend a whole day at the end of the runway at LAX in Los Angeles to see two beauties like that, and you get them in 5 minutes! :D The cargo MD-11s have an extreme takeoff angle, they really show off their power when they go! Thanks for posting.
