  • In this video, I show you what we use to heat water up for doing our dishes, or taking a hot shower with, a submersible water heater, also called a bucket water heater. This does a great job for us!
You can get it here: shorturl.at/beyY1
If the link doesn’t take you to anything (I have posted several links and after a while, they don’t bring up anything). They must sell out because of this video :) ) Go to Amazon and search for bucket heater.

Thanks for the review, I'm trying to keep it simple, and not do a heater/Pelican box contraption. Also, here's a safety tip. Run a drip-loop, so if any water runs down the cord, it won't make it to the plug...just a little trick I learned with my wet-saw, lol.

Not from the few times I have used this. People comment that “You need electricity for this”, and yeah, you would need a campground with electricity or at least a generator. There might be a more expensive option for instant hot water, but this has worked just fine for me. Sure, you have to wait a little bit, but so what? Do something camping related while you are waiting. Or, this could be used at home if for some reason your hot water heater went out or something.

I read in the comments those might be 1000 watts. I'd like to see a test on how much of my Jackert power it uses. Doing vanlife and my power is precious when remote docking. I did submerge the whole thing. It has been a while, but I am pretty sure some of the cord was in the water too. I don’t think I was paying attention to be careful not getting the cord wet. You could probably attach some sort of drip loop to it, so water would run back down that and not get to the plug.

These WOULD be good, but they break and malfunction in one month of use. They trip the GFCI constantly. Garbage. All of the brands and types on Amazon break quickly. Why can’t anyone make a reliable one? Risk of electric shock too.
