The way they picked it up and just tried putting it back on makes me think it's a common occurance.

@M J The hinges aren’t designed to be load bearing. A passenger hitting it because they’re not wearing a seatbelt while not shut properly will put significant forces on it.

My engine and electrics once shut down in the outside lane of the motorway, I was able to move it across in traffic without signalling (other than arms) into the last SOS bay for miles on a stretch of motorway just outside of Birmingham with no hard shoulder.
That’s luck!
In that vid the overtakes knew the lay by was there and forced the driver into it

Bit of context for the clip at 4:30.
I came round that corner and was presented with a car well over half way past a long row of parked cars. Rather than forcing him to reverse and find a space I decided to stop, flash him to say “you can come through” and reversed.
His issue was that he thought I was driving too fast. Judging by the amount of abuse being hurled at me and his manner of driving I decided against a shouting match and declined the invite to argue.
He didn’t like it and punched my wing mirror as he drove past.
You were not driving too fast and it was your right of way, which you conceded and reversed for him. When he threw that tantrum my blood boiled. Needs a smack that one.

These days, whenever I pass a junction with a car waiting to emerge my foot is off the accelerator and hovering over the brake.

Not when dashcam owners actively try to force the near miss. There is no need to speed up when it is blatantly obvious someone ahead is pulling out in front of you.

i often think everyone would drive much more cautiously if all cars were fitted with a big spike in the steering column that fires into the drivers head on any kind of impact. too many drivers rely on the protection of the vehicle

I know this road and it's a 20mph speed limit. He definitely must have been doing 30mph+ after passing by the white van.
@@PhantomScottZ by the sounds of it he’s in some three cylinder shopping cart, it takes them about three years to reach 30. I know, I used to drive one. They sound faster than they are because of the exhaust note, couple that with the fact dashcams speed everything up and it probably wasn’t going that fast

The dashcam driver was actually going 150+ mph.. they've just kindly slowed it down for us!

Alot of these dashcam clips just have idiots submitting them and just reacting poorly to other people's poor driving. In the first one, you can see from a mile away that the car was going to pull out and the driver should have backed off the gas and slowed down but no they just keep going and didn't do anything at all. Just stupid.

That and why they chose to block a roundabout while they tried to fix it, rather than park up somewhere safer.

Yeah people can say that its just a random failure of the van door that isnt their fault but something doesnt add up for me, the fact that a door would just fall off, along with clearly no seatbelt suggests that the driver/owner of the vehicle is incredibly negligent.

@@Glenn7719 Yeah shame the camera quality with the glare from the sun (or maybe it's intentional to obscure the numberplate) means we can't see the reg number to do more digging. As police officers say on programmes like Traffic Cops, if something about a vehicle or its behaviour looks odd, then it probably is dodgy.

He has a dashcam, of course he beeped. How dare that other car obstruct his righteous progress! As we've seen once a dashcam is installed, you need to use your horn extensively in order to enable the braking system.

It could be argued that the black car didn't make them crash. They made them change course but there was still plenty of time to avoid the accident.

They at least must have known they were in the wrong.

No charge there, he wasn't involved in the accident. Black car was in the wrong lane and you could probably call it a contributory factor. However there was no contact between vehicles. The white car was potentially distracted by the black car and clipped the curb. The white car could have just stopped or driven back round the roundabout, equally the black car could have taken the exit and sorted it at the next junction but like many drivers their journey is more important than the other person's.

5:38 was my clip. For context I was taking my dad to the airport at 3AM, doing about 50mph in a 60 zone. Looks like a late reaction on my part (which it may be although was definitely a lot closer than it looks!) but in my defence we were dazzled by the truck in fronts’ main beams and then because it was a corner the overtaking car looked like it was just further behind around the corner rather than in our lane.
Either way we were pretty lucky that idiot didn’t kill us trying to overtake two trucks on a bend

Tbf, we see this type of roundabout incident every week on here and there was plenty of space for the white car to drive on after the Fiat braked. It looks like they were too busy trying to remonstrate with the Fiat and weren't paying attention to the road.
The initial actions of the Fiat, whilst in the wrong, didn't force the White car onto the kerb.
