Yeah a big problem was that he got put on two tough defensive assignments. Guarding a 3x MVP who’s taller and bigger than him and trying to navigate through a million screens chasing MPJ. There's a reason his offense suffered.
I understand LA is tired of losing to Den, but at this point we'd have to gut the whole team because everyone besides AD and Bron did bad against them both times including AR and Vando.
Rui hasva lot of upside to his game and tons of potential. Under the Wizards he couldn't develop because the Wizards suck and they gave up on him. With Phil Handy we saw him become so much better. When Lebron leaves he'll potentially be LA's best wing unless they can makeca major trade.

Free up enough space in trade for Grant/Kuz/Cam to then go and sign Gary Trent JR. Go get Kessler and the Lakers are back to being a contending team. Simple.
This is why that Max Christie's contract dont make sense. They want to shed excess contracts to sign another guard that will play ahead of Max. Paying too much for a player that will be 11th-12th off the bench.

I've already explained that it wasn't Rob giving players a player option. On 1x1 deals, the 2nd year is automatically a player option according to the CBA. Rob didn't have a choice.

@@wills.9422 yeah while he was guarded by DPOY candidate AD lol if Lakers had a defensive big to at least bang with Jokic and help on the glass Murray’s shots likely would’ve resulted in Nuggets cutting the lead to 6 rather than game winners/daggers. Murray didn’t play great in that last series against the Lakers and perimeter defence was not their biggest issue, go look at the rebounding numbers from the series and hopefully you’ll understand what the real issue is 🙏🏾

@chuey799 The Jazz got the Lakers 2027 1st RD pick (likely post LeBron) and Beasley is now with his 3rd team (Pistons?) in 3 years. They brought out Westbrook. Vando for a 1st RD pick isn't exactly like Red Aurebach getting Kevin McHale and Robert Parrish for Joe Barry Carroll.
Vando's injury issues don't make it any better.
@@Kenjayfan55 the jazz at the time wanted a 1st rd pick for each vando&beas but rob was able to just give 1 to the jazz for both, and even tho beas is not with the team anymore he did his part towards the end of the season to help the lakers get to the playoffs but just disappeared in the playoffs which is most likely the reason they didn't resign him, vandos injury history was a concern but lauri and kessler also have never played a full season, sexton is the only one I believe that has only played all 82 games but that was during his rookie yr last year he played 78 games but the 2 seasons before that he played 11 games in one season and 48 in the next, lauri has never played more than 68 games in a regular season his whole career and kessler only played 64 games last season and 74 his rookie yr so there's health issues there also

A lot of the guys that we were very happy to get last year had injuries and so did not play as well as expected. Why would we want to sell low and trade them now when nobody wants them. It's like everybody wants to throw JHS in on every trade just to get rid of him, same with Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish, and Christian Wood. Right now is the worst time to trade any one of those players. We should try to rehab their value and see if we can get something better for them a little later in the season.

I feel like basically the Lakers roster is decent except for a dominant big man and a more defensive scoring point guard like Gary Trent Jr . if we could move Gabe, Vincent and Christian Wood or Jalen Hood-Schifino to clear a couple of roster spots and get Trent Jr. and Kessler or Wendell Carter we’d be in good shape. Had we had a healthy Jared Vanderbilt and Christian Wood we might’ve beat the Denver Nuggets and went on to beat the rest of the teams in the Western Conference

Gabe Vincent wasn’t even given a chance because he was injured but he was ballin that’s why we picked him up. We keep on talking about getting rid of him and he’s gonna ball out and do what he was doing in Miami. Darvin didn’t play a lot of guys that should have played. We do have needs but I’m not opposed to running it back
I want them to sign a big you could sign Willie Cauley-Stein he is a solid player who is still young enough at 30 years old. Cauley-Stein is plenty capable of filling the role Javale McGee played in the year the Lakers won the championship. Potentially even at a higher caliber than McGee, being a former lottery pick at 6th. Cauley-Stein can defend and block or alter shots at the rim being a true 7 footer with a 7’3” wingspan averaging 1.5 blocks for his career. He can also run pick and roll and rim run and catch lobs for you which would keep the defender honest which would provide some different opportunities for them offensively he doesn’t average the most points at just 9ppg for his career but that’s not the main reason why they need him. He will also help the lakers out immensely on with his ability to rebound averaging 9 during his career. He is also a former wildcat so him and AD would have that connection. However what I feel is most important is he’s HUNGRY to get back into the league having last played in the NBA in 2022 and you would be able to get him on a vet minimum so low risk high reward. The front office would just have to trade or waive somebody or trade two for one.

I have no problem with Vincent being back. I think he'll be way better. Clearly he almost doesn't have anywhere to go but up.
And even with slim Pickens they're still better fits for the Lakers in free agency. Plus we move off his contract for next year as well. I think that's where the huge bonus is.
Next season in theory we should have our biannual again. We can essentially give that money to somebody and not be too hard up against the cap because Gabe is still on the books.
