  • Welcome back to our channel! In this video, we delve into the fascinating world of member design, providing valuable guidance and warnings to help you navigate this crucial aspect of structural engineering. From considering restraint to buckling and serviceability checks to deflection considerations, we cover it all.
🏗️ Grab your virtual hard hats and join us as we explore the seamless connection between analysis and design facilitated by software design packages in our industry. Learn how analysis and design are like two sides of the same sturdy steel coin, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in the process.
💡 Discover the importance of understanding the nature of assumed restraints in member design. We uncover how different restraint conditions affect design runs and demonstrate how design programs can be adjusted to ensure accurate assessments.
📏 Dive into serviceability checks and deflection considerations. We break down technical concepts and explain their significance in a simplified and engaging manner. Find out why column deflection calculations and considerations differ from cantilevers and how to accurately assess deflection in a series of connected elements.
⚖️ Explore the concept of minimum weight design and its impact on cost-effectiveness. Uncover the balance between weight optimization and practicality in connection design, fabrication costs, and overall project complexity. We provide practical examples and insights to help you make informed decisions.
📐 Optimize space without compromising strength using the minimum depth design option. Learn how design suites allow you to select load cases and tailor your design process to specific checks, ensuring both strength evaluations and serviceability requirements are met.
🔧 Discover the ease of handling eccentric connections to columns and compare various member types effortlessly. We empower you with the flexibility to switch between universal beams, universal columns, hollow sections, and more, with just a few clicks.
🔄 Benefit from the ability to re-analyze your structure based on the most recent design choices. Find out how design suites act as a safety net, allowing you to assess changes in forces, moments, and deflections to ensure accuracy and integrity.

You should do a video about types of analysis, static, pushover, time history, etc. Your videos are awesome. By the way, you are from Europe right? Do you also use RFEM? This program has a good feature that determines the effective length of a member using modal analysis.
