there was no analog there was nothing back in the 50's 60's 70's that enhanced anything just pure talent
Blue-eyed soul, no auto tune, pure sound, just beautiful.
No gimmicks, no autotune, just had to have pure talent back then and boy did they ever!
He had so much talent. Both of them did but Bobbys voice had so much range. He was so beautiful to look at. He looks like a perfect Ken doll to me. But his talent shines out of that handsome face.
I was a sound engineer. They're using voice, microphone amplification. It's raw talent
His mother was in the audience behind him, he had the flu and suffered from extreme stage fright. A true professional .
That’s his voice and his voice only …NO auto tune … the man is talented …. In fact both men can sing … NO ARTIFICIAL anything … fn talent ! …
Guys, my boyfriend bought me this album in 1965. Next year we got married, I was 16. He was 19. Still married. This has been my song since 1965. Love you 2 💞
Congratulations! I was married for 35 years and I was so proud of that. Unfortunately, I lost my sweetheart last year. He was my heart and soul.
My daughter and son-in-law married at 16 & 19.. 4 kids and 27 years later they are still together...
Pure Talent,No cheating with autotune or pro tools.
You said that "yall had nothing back then" . Well yes we did and was called talent with great voices.
Blue eyed soul! ❤
To see them both, “You’ve lost that loving feeling” is good one. There’s a live performance of that one as well.
RIP Bobby Hatfield. You were one of the greats!
this is the time when the audience had respect for the singers by not making any noise during the performance
AMEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was a tv show (the Andy Williams show) and the audience was directed at times by signs to ‘laugh’ ‘applause’ ‘quiet please’ so a very different vibe than a concert.
And that, my dears, is "blue-eyed soul". This is what we were falling in love to back in the day. Thank you for this one - it really takes me back. Do keep down the Righteous Brothers rabbit hole, you will never be disappointed. Love your reactions!
I’ve heard this probably 100 times and still gives me chills.
That's because it is a performance of a lifetime.
Both men had unique and amazing voices and when they sang together they brought the magic. They have some great R&B live performances where they let it rip and you'll be blown away. This duo is still the best ever, in my opinion. Anxious to see which performance floors you the most. They each have some great solos. FYI: You two are just too cute.
Greatest Love Song of ALL TIME
Another great Rightous Brothers song is Soul and inspiration
and lost that loving feeling, too!
Bobby Hatfield performed this live on the Andy Williams show. It was right after singing another song. His Mother was in the audience and it was her first time to hear him sing it live so he did his best for her. I say that he hit it out of the park for her, wouldn't you? Bobby said that he was nervous and getting over a cold as well. In my opinion this is the best live performance ever. The passion along with the vocal ability is absolutely jaw dropping if you want to hear his soulful side you need to listen to Bobby Hatfield singing "Summertime" live performance 1965. He will blow your mind. His vocal range and control are phenomenal.
This wasn’t engineered… this was a recorded live performance.
He told in an interview, that he was performing with a cold that day. You can hear it in his talking voice, that he was slightly stuffed up.
The host who did the introduction is a great singer in his own right. Andy Williams.
That is wailing for a reason. Done for emotion and not for fame.
Thanks for a great reaction! 👍
Great reaction!!! Great, natural talent by that man.
This old vet loves this song. Grew up on this music.
Maybe the most played song ever. I was young when it came out. I m 75 now. 1 of my all time favorites.
The most played song of the 20th century is You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling.... by the Righteous Brothers!!!
Now The Righteous Brothers AND The Blossoms on Night time is the right time...!😃😃😃👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I loved the reaction to this performance.
Hundreds of singers have sung this song but none do it better than Bobby Hatfield. No auto tune or gimmicks just pure talent. The studio version was used in the movie 'Ghost' and was great but this live version is stupendous. He had a cold, his parents were in the audience watching him sing live for the first time and he suffered with stage fright. Watch when he sings the high notes at the end his face does not contort like some singers when he hits the high notes. He just bites his lip and smiles as if to say I nailed it.
Totally agree with you spacefanantic. I rushed out to buy the cd after this but nothing will ever top this.❤
"Blue-eyed soul" at its best!!❤
There were both phenomenal singers. If you want to hear both of them singing try reacting to their song "You've lost that loving feeling." Soul and heart inspiration." And "Summertime" and "Ebb Tide" by Bobby Hatfield will blow your mind. Bobby Hatfield died in 2003. Bill Medley is still alive he is 83♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
They had the voices and the looks for sure. Bobby could sing anything. He and Bill both grew up listening to and influenced by the great soul and blues singers, and you hear it when they sing
The microphone he was using is a "condenser microphone". Most microphones used on stage are "dynamic microphones" which are more rugged so you can do things like mic drops and they still work. Condenser mics are a little more delicate but they tend to have better sound than dynamic mics.
thank you for the beautiful voice.
As teenagers, we mostly had the radio. We didn't know what color anyone was, we liked the music & talent. There was a lot of talent back then.
They used this song with the movie GHOST. Incredible ❤️ 😲 😮 😯
You've lost that loving feeling is one of their best
Bobby was 25 years old at the time of this performance. He is in the rock Hall of Fame.
No auto tune, no re-takes . no gimmiks .. just pure God given talent ... Bobby is a counter tenor , also known as blue eyed soul. Check out You've Lost That Lovin Feeling (most played song of the 20th century)
He's a tenor, not a counter tenor, even though his falsetto is excellent.
Listen to the White cliffs if Dover, and Ebb Tide...omg yes Ebb tide
This song was featured in the movie Ghost with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. No one does this song better than Bobby Hatfield. The Righteous Brothers are the best duo of the 60's and of all time. They were dubbed the Blue-Eyed Soul Brothers. Side note, they both have blue eyes and many who have heard them sing are very surprised to find out they are white.
Elvis did this So well!!
Bill actually produced the song. Each one of them did a solo for each album. They always joked around before TV performances. Watch Bobby sing "Summertime" AMAZING !
My introduction to this song was from the movie Ghost Starring Patrick Swayze & Demi Moor.
Bill and Bobby singing together is dynamite...lightening in a bottle. But Bobby Owns this song....Elvis is preferred by many, but this version one never gets tired of it. This kind of singing from the Righteous Brothers is called Blue Eyed Soul. The guy who yelled out "that's righteous brother" was actually a black marine from a nearby base in San Diego, [that's what Bobby meant by "Down South" in California]. Bill and he actually had a coin toss, thinking it was the B side of their next record..."Hung on You." Bill lost, but he produced the recording for Bobby. It WAS the B side but DJ's kept playing this and it went to #3 on Billboard. Bill and Bobby were close friends and just kidding for the camera. Bobby died in 2003 at the age of 63, in Kalamazoo MI [less than an hour down the highway from my house] in a hotel from a heart attack, just before he and Bill were to go on stage. Because of growing up with this music, and being a music teacher, I heard the news on my way to work...I cried and had to pull over, the same as the murder John Lennon in 1980, and the death of Karen Carpenter in 1983. Bill is about 84 and still alive.
You should hear him sing Summer Time! Just Wow!
Great reaction guys! I LOVE The Righteous Brothers! This has always been one of my favorite songs...and I love this one even more cause it was in the movie Ghost with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore.
Blue eyed soul
It such fun watching you experience the music I grew up with. Also our headphones were carved out of stone however they worked better after wire was invented 😂😂😂😂
Bobby who is singing this also 2:53 does " Summertime ". It has so much soul you got to hear.
7: 45 Here we GO now!! Lift Off.
Movie"Ghost", you'll really feel this even more❤😢
Blue eyed soul. Bobby was the best ever.
An 8-WOW review from the pretty lady!!
This song was in the movie Ghost
Bob was joking regarding it being a hit. Both Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley, who performed as the Righteous Brothers, wanted to sing "Unchained Melody" on their fourth album. However, Hatfield won a coin toss to perform the lead vocal solo. The song was originally recorded in 1965 and reached number four on the US pop chart and number 14 in the UK. It became an anthem again in 1990 when it was featured on the soundtrack for the movie Ghost
Home Free did an incredible cover of this as well. 😃❤️👍🏼
It's cold blue eyed soul
1965 - live no technology to alter someone's voice. All pure talent, Bobby Hatfield is a Counter-Tenor his high notes come naturally where falsetto is forced. Bobby range is way bigger then this song, this was why i was suggesting Sumemtime, Bobby cranks up close to the sound barrier in this song. How much is for a donation for a video?
God bless 🙏🏼
You may want to react to a song called Cara Mia by Jay Black and the Americans. A good example is the 2001 PBS concert. If you like this one you'll certainly like his song. He is known simply as"the Voice"
Andy Williams Perry Como, the righteous brothers. They all have Christmas songs.
The Righteous Brothers do not have Christmas songs! I commented at Christmas time that I wish Bobby had recorded a Christmas album! Some of the songs would be so beautiful with him singing them!
He did some great runs. Such a talent.
Blue-eyed soul❤
If you want to see some of the most impressive singing please watch Lucy Thomas sing Unchained Melody, I Will Always Love You, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas also HALLELUJAH , Evergreen and then At Last and La Vie En Rose also with her sister Martha singing
O Holy Night then The Prayer and Mary Did You Know then you will not regret it Enjoy!.
💙💙💙
Talent was talent back then More strict on who had talent
This song is in the movie "Ghost"
Bobby Caldwell - What you won't do for love.
🔥🔥🔥
The theme song for the movie Unchained. A movie about a man in prison and debating whether try to escape or finish his term. A black guy sings it in the movie. It has been covered by more than 1000artust, but Bobbie Hatfield recorded it in 1965 and now owns it forever!
Andy McCluskey of OMD said the same thing about the song 'Souvenir', that his band member Paul Humphreys wrote.
It was all Paul's work and vocals, and released as an OMD song. It went on to be a big hit.
In fairness, Paul said the same thing about 'Enola Gay', another OMD hit.
That’s a great song but summertime by Bobby Hatfield will floor you
Never heard of the Righteous Brothers? Do you people live under a rock
You HAVE TO check out both "brothers" singing the Rodgers and Hammerstein hit from the musical Carousel - You'll Never Walk Alone! Bill Medley adds a fantastic baritone voice to the mix!
If you two have ever seen the movie Dirty Dancing, you've heard Bill Medley's baritone sing those words that so many know.... " cause I.... had... the time of my life....."
No echo chamber or other electronic gimmicks.
when you think of movir=es ghost comes to mind another of their songs in another 80s movie top gun song youve lost that lovin feeling
This is called Blue Eyed Soul. Bobby Hatfield had a beautiful falsetto voice. You have to check out You Lost That Loving Feeling. They both sing in that one. It will blow your mind. Love your reactions!
I thought he had a Counter Tenor voice and that’s why he could sing so high! Am I wrong? Im confused!
I remember seeing that Andy Williams Show back in 65. (They have colorized it. It makes Bobby look like a plastic Ken Doll.) Anyway.. It was epic. It was on our local radio station in every car.
Theme from the movie Unchained. It’s a prisoner singing to his woman. Telling her I’ll be coming home, wait for me!
This song was in the movie 'GHOST'
Blue eyed soul. It was in the movie Ghost
His mother was in the Audience and he was nervous!
If you put the person's that donates name on the screen for a few seconds they will love that. They will give more
Another solo by bobbie Hatfield that i would suggest is Summertime
React to please "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" Tom Jones.
One hello from Brazil!!!
Listen also summertime bobby hatfield ❤
This is about a man incarcerated writing to his love. He is asking for her to wait for him.
old school
Great reaction but if you want some Blue Eyed Soul you both might want to react to Average White Band "A Love Of Your Own" one of my fav. ty both
try "CREEP" by RADIOHEAD
Somebody sing this in the movie ghost
The it wasn’t gonna be a hit was a joke. The legend actually goes that they both wanted to sing the song. So they flipped a coin to see who got to record it
Try some music by YES one of the greatest progressive rock groups of all time. You haven't reacted to them at all. Some good ones include "Roundabout", "Close to the Edge", "The Gates of Delirium". "Awaken", "Turn of the Century"... Loads of good ones. I'll subscribe if you do a YES song and so will many other YES fans.
Need to react Metallica Creeping death!! Must hear that😊
Listen to elvis' version
What colour is he , whats with that 😂 great voice
Hello If you like songs like this. You need to react to the louvin brothers.
Talk about vocal ranges !!!! Wow.
