I killed a KV1 with a 75mm Sherman smoke shell today:) I hit its fuel tank that was inside the turret then the crew got cooked (might of been a KV 2 I can't remember
The captive tank from Sturmling was absolutely hilarious. Nothing was learned from the earlier experience of the captured Kv-2…

I’m glad to see a KV-1E again! This thing is a beast!
The basis for the KV-1E is that of the original KV-1 model, but up-armoured with bolted appliqué armour on the front and side of the hull and turret.
This tank possesses great armour and a mostly adequate gun. However, it will sometimes not be able to destroy an enemy from the front and will require very close distance or a flank shot.
The defining characteristic of this tank is its armour and it can be a tough tank to destroy, most of the weak spots from its predecessors have been armoured and the only frontal weak spot is the centre of the upper hull.
Do not be afraid to advance towards the enemy, especially against tanks such as the 75 mm M4s and T-34s since they will find it very difficult to penetrate your armour.
I like how it resides at 4.0 with like triple the speed and better side armor than the Churchill VII which sits at 4.7. Sure, the Churchill's shitty American 75mm gun with no HE filler has technically better penetration but it's a pretty obvious choice. I'd take a Kv-1E to 5.7 far sooner than a Churchill VII. War Thunder's balance sucks balls.
@@adamg7984 I wonder how they regulate the ratings. Maybe frequency of use is a factor?
@@Hallands. I do believe you're correct in that assumption or you already knew that. I'm pretty sure they do come up with ratings on that basis, use frequency. But that's a silly, stupid way to balance a vehicle considering it's easily manipulated. But that's also not the only way they choose ratings that's flawed so, it's certainly not the only issue. I just see so many double standards in how they balance the game. If you go by the KV-1 Zis-5 then the KV-1E should be at 4.0 but the KV-1 Zis-5 is significantly better than quite a few other vehicles at 4.3 and above 4.3 so it also depends on what perspective you come from. There's certain vehicles Gaijin never should have added like the Churchill VII since it's gun is anemic. It was designed to fight infantry and that's not worth much in War Thunder. All I know is if the KV-1E was up tiered, it's gun at least has 1 shot potential and can flank shot even with only, what, 80mm of point blank penetration? The Churchill VII has better frontal armor but it's so abysmally slow it's a pipe dream to make flanks in it. And even if you manage a flank shot, it's gun is just one of those AP without HE guns so it horribly under performs in the game because according to Gaijin, APHE acts like a hand grenade when thrown into a tank, it doesn't in real life of course.

@@Hallands. Oh well believe me I'm not the only one who's said this or feels this way. And it's worth adding many of the balance issues stem from the need for more BR ranks. The game only goes to 11.3 when it really needs to go to like 14 or 15 to allow much more nuance to balance. That alone could fix many of the issues but we're lucky to see Gaijin raise the BR ceiling by .3 every year.
You know, as AMUSING as it would be to actually run into Bo & Friends in warthunder...sometimes I'm so glad I haven't because if this turned out to be me they were 'having fun with' I don't know how I'd react LOL. Plus, i'm waiting for T34-E. I want the uparmored set LOL

This video was so much fun! I just bought the KV-1E and the Po-2 thanks to your suggestion. Also, I agree with Sturmling... you can't keep pets in War Thunder they always turn on their owners. You just gotta put them down Old Yeller style.

As an Enlisted player I can confidently say that when you’re playing as infantry that armored car is most certainly a weapon of war……… until I get close enough to throw a dynamite pack at it.

Kinda wish the Russian vehicles were a store pack, like the Chinese got recently for the various high-tier MBTs. I actually got that pack because it was very worthwhile with the bundle being on sale. The KV-1E is probably worth the 3,200 GE, but I don't think the other three are worth much.

My hope with the KV-1E being on sale is that huge numbers of people will buy it and spam it out and have really good results.
Then with it being spammed out and doing well they can decide to increase the BR of it, and in the interest of fairness raise the KV-1B by the same amount.
IDK, The KV-1E/B have never really gave me any issues when fighting them. Gives my team plenty though but that may be because they are newer to the game
@@nikoclesceri2267 I mostly have troubles with them when fully uptiered against them and not playing those nations with really good guns at 3.0. Or when volumetric decides to be a jerk lol.
The reason it seems OP to you but isn't up-BR-ed, is because 4.3 is insanely often full downtiered, but Gaijin almost certainly balances things only at their native BR. So your experiences with it are biased in a way the algorithm isn't. In other words, normal tanks are also as good as it when they are full downtiered, they just aren't as often.
@@gavinjenkins899 I wouldn't call it OP, just very strong and annoying to kill when volumetric is being a pain.
The thing that pushes tanks like these in to OP territory is when they have a few specific weak spots to aim for, but the game lets people cover those weak spots in bushes. Unlike many other vehicles where the entire vehicle is the weak spot lol.
"Just shoot it in the X" doesn't work if players can't see those spots.

The Churchill mk 7 can be very easily killed from the side. Even an Ostwind can kill it. Most people don’t know the weak spot.
