Liked your reaction, don't let fans convince you that you NEED to like every kpop song. You'll get hate no matter what, even if you say it's not your thing. Be honest with your opinion! I'm so tired of kpop reactors liking EVERYTHING they see and clearly sucking up to the fans of the group, anyone agree with me?

Haha but also ofc if yall like them all or a lot of them too it's fine 😂but yeah I always feel bad when new reaction channels get bombarded with soooo many requests and idk it must be so stressful for you guys. I'd also like to add you don't have to be pressured into watching all mvs and videos ppl want. sometimes it might just be more comfortable to watch them without making a video and that's fine as well

  • @joyce1343

Also don't be afraid to not like every kpop song you listen to. We only ask you are respectful and not demeaning about the song or members/producers of the song. Some immature fans will bash you but the majority of fans in the fanbase are perfectly fine with you guys disliking a certain song/style . I am a fan (army) of bts and many other groups and sometimes I don't like every single song the groups produce. Does that mean I hate them or disrespect them no.. it just means that that particular song/style is not my favorite.

Okay, so, Jin kissing the statue basically means he's giving into temptation and sin.
Here, Taehyung (the blond), IS the statue. He's lost his wings.

+Masearte Abraha no they're right, that's literally what they're implying in the video. the statue holds no symbolic meaning, it's just a stand-in for Tae because bighit couldn't show the two members kissing for obvious reasons. remember bs&t (and the whole Wings album) are based on the book Demian by Hermann Hesse; in the book there is a gay kiss between the protagonist and the devil, which is how he makes a deal with him. Jin is sealing a deal with the devil, aka Tae, by kissing him and gives up his soul in the process, which is why Jin's face is cracking at the end, it symbolizes the less of his innocence/purity and therefore his soul.

    • @katya.g524

The actual song doesn't have the narrative (and organ) break, it just goes straight to the final chorus, when BTS were reacting to it one of them asked if the narrative part was the end and another member remembered that they still had the final chorus to go. Also the guy playing the organ (Yoongi, he learnt to play the piano when he was younger) hit his head on the pipes as he was going to sit down, so he was playing the organ with a slight concussion.

As a fellow metal head that's recently got into K-pop I am loving these reaction videos you guys are making! It's awesome how despite being a totally different genre of music you can appreciate all of the work that goes into producing the songs and videos along with different choreography for each one. It's definitely quite different from westernized pop music.
I've been checking out your own work and you are amazing! Really quite refreshing from a lot of the metal/rock music being released today, I can't wait to see more of your work in the future.
A few of my favorite bands are In Flames, Gojira, Killswitch Engage, Lacuno Coil, Kamelot and Starset. I like everything from Death Metal all the way to soft rock. What are your favorite bands/singers and biggest influences of your own music?

Hi again. I love the fact that you're giving these videos a shot and allowing yourself to dwell into multiple genres . Most of my metal head peers refuse to do so. I think you should give "singularity' from BTS a shot. It's a solo by one of the vocalists V. It has got an R n B vibe, but it's classified as neo soul. It's rumored to be based on the story of narcissus. It's imagery includes story of ophelia as well. It's one of the experimental BTS songs and applauded by many professional musicians. It's something you might enjoy if you're into prog metal or melodic. Appreciate you guys👏

The video is based on the book demian" by Hermann Hesse. The quote used with the balloon is from the book. In the storyline that goes through the videos connected to the BTS universe videos, different quotes are used. The book is about temptation etc and the character in the book meets various characters who act as mentors and temptors . Very clever video using all sorts of symbolism. One of the reasons I like bts is they are fearless when it comes to trying new things and they can jump from a hiphop sound to a r&b sound to edm sound to a latin beat and before you know it and least expect it they throw in a bohemian androgynous mv with jin kissing a massive statue lol.

bts can be watched on two levels, just listening to their music or you can get into the story line that has many many forums of theories. The story line starts way back in 2015 with I need you girl(19+) version and continues through to present day the most recent installment being fake love (the extended version gives a little more to the story) It is made more difficult to understand these videos if you can't differentiate between the bts members as it is important to remember who is doing what in each video , as there is some butterfly effect shit going on that changes the storyline. Its a whole mindtrip. Anyway incase you ever want to delve into that side of bts here is the order of videos (i know I have probably missed something out but army will correct it) Their earlier mvs have a more hip-hop feel and they have branched out as years went on.Their first video is in 2013 with No more dream. I'm glad that you guys are appreciating bts' music and are taking in the information that people are giving to you about BTS. I totally understand that pop songs aren't your thing because everyone has different tastes in music.
And are you guys really interested in following the storyline? It's a wild ride! If so, I actually created playlists of the videos you need to watch. Just sharing them with you guys so it'll be easier for y'all to follow along. You can save these playlists so you can get back to them. They are split into eras.
Here's the HYYH videos and they are in order: czcams.com/play/PLrIIIPFUBJK1nZPpJcPaXGlm84MMktH3_.html I would also like to note that the lyrics don't always match up with the storyline. When watching the I Need U mv, focus on music video rather than the lyrics because the visuals tell the story itself. There's a lot of important stuff going on.
Here's the playlists for the WINGS short films: czcams.com/play/PLrIIIPFUBJK0S3yjwKoznuNDDk0-fz3_L.html It has 7 short films, one for each member and it features their own solo songs from their WINGS album. Blood, Sweat, and Tears is also from this album and era.
Next, BTS also does a series called Love Yourself and it's sort of like a drama mini. They have released 4 short clips called highlight reels but they also released one video that has all the highlight reels so you only need to watch this video: czcams.com/video/EHdK5U2hf4o/video.html
And then we have their Euphoria MV/trailer czcams.com/video/kX0vO4vlJuU/video.html

    Long comment here, get ready:
So, I've been binge watching a couple of your videos and all I can say is you guys are amazing!! Out of all the groups you've reacted to I only like BTS, but I still watched the other videos because I really like the fact that you come in with an open mind and try to understand more about the groups. I like pop music in general and I still was very judgemental towards kpop until last year. So I really appreciate what you guys are doing, considering that you come from such a different background.
I think that what most people don't like about kpop is the idea of groups being totally manufactured, making music just to sell or not being involved in the writting process, etc. And while that's true to a large extent, there are always exeptions to the rule. Even some of the most manufactured groups that I wouldn't call "real musicians" end up being a very interesting product because of how every aspect of their music is polished. So I think you're going to have a lot of fun with these reactions.
    My suggestions:
    Ddaeng
    134034
    Outro: Tear
Some of the newest BTS' songs that I really like. They don't have a music video, but you can look up lyric videos or live performances.

And yes, BTS is the underdog/Cinderella story of the century. They literally came from nothing and have been writing/producing their own music for the most part since before debut. This music video is based on a book by Herman Hesse called Demian. The little break with one of the members saying something in English (RM) is an excerpt from the book. It deals with self discovery and choosing between living sheltered or going out into the world and giving into temptations. Jin kissing the statue represents him giving into V (the angel) giving into his temptation I guess. I still don’t quiet get everything but yeah lol. Hope that helped some

Coming from an *old*-school metalhead, the best advice I could give you would be to look at kpop as being about as close as you could get to "prog-pop" being a genre. Not so much odd time signatures, but ever-changing styles, tonal shifts, concept albums and ongoing themes. A single band is constantly changing and evolving, meshing styles and tones, both musically and thematically. So although you might not like a particular song, just hang around for a bit cos there's gonna be something just around the corner you'll love.
It was bands like VIXX that were what first turned me onto kpop years ago because of this.

Gus McArthur I would suggest starting with their earlier stuff like "Hyde", "On & On" and especially "Voodoo Doll" - there's themes, visuals and a staccato aggression to the music that I think you'll find a metalhead would more easily go "now this is pop I can relate to".

You mentioned wanting to know about live performances in another video, so I would totally like to recommend that you look up some of those. It's super impressive because they have to sing, dance, and maintain eye contact with the camera that's currently on for that very short moment of time (compared to a whole bunch of moving cameras around them). And the only way they know it's filming is by a tiny red light on the camera. It's crazy, and a lot of it is experience.
I personally haven't watched much of Blackpink's live performances, but I'm sure they're good. Dreamcatcher actually got some praise for their very good live performances even after they just debuted, including the eye contact thing. I personally really love watching Sunmi and Red Velvet perform live.

As a metal head who has been into kpop for the last 2 years it's refreshing to see others stance on the genre. BTS is in a league of their own. Cypher Pt 3: Killer is definitely a song worth reacting to.
Other groups to check out would be:
SHINee- Lucifer or Married to the Music
    (they have amazing vocalist)
Seventeen- Don't Wanna Cry (they write their own music)
    VIXX-Fantasy, Voodoo, or Scentist
    NCT 127- The 7th Sense
    Taemin-Move
    Stray Kids-District 9 or Hellevator

BTS has a couple of songs that might be somewhat close to your liking. I recommend Boy In Luv, Danger, and War of Hormones. These songs have some rock elements you might like. This video is in a long story line that goes back 3 years! It's starts with I Need U, prologue, run, young forever, wings short films, boy meets evil, blood sweat and tears (along with the Japanese mv's of the Korean mvs but watch out with watch those Japan is very strict with copyright), love yourself:her highlight reel, euphoria, singularity and fake love (I'm sorry if I miss any) the story is about youth, growing up into adulthood and dealing with temptations (hardships) along the way and in even in adulthood. There is no clear set in stone story that they have said. They've told only a small part (youth, growing up, adulthood and dealing with temptations or hardships) bts choose this story and concept for their mvs and they write, produce and compose majority of their songs!

  • @olivialightfoot8289
    @olivialightfoot8289 Před 6 lety +1

you should react to spring day by bts! some back story on the song may be helpful, but honestly there is so much that it symbolizes that it's hard to summarize in one little post. Basically, spring day pays tribute to the lives lost during the Sewol Ferry accident in South Korea a few years ago. The video has multiple symbols that connect with the accident, and if you choose to watch the live dance version, the choreo does as well

I suggest you watch their wings short films. Each video was a teaser for the members solo songs but theres so many videos to watch first for the storyline owo
But heres the order (its long loll since they have had a storyline since the beginning tbh) oh theres also a special clip at the end of credits btw
    1. BTS - Prologue
    2. BTS - I need U original ver
    3. BTS - Run (honestly my favorite song)
    4. BTS - Young Forever Epilogue
    5. BTS short films #1-#7 (you can find one with English subs since the official doesnt have any and it'll make a little more sense)
    6. BTS - Intro boy meets evil
    7. Then its blood sweat & Tears (the pause was from a book called "Demian" that song and wings era was its inspiration)
    8. BTS Highlight reels
    9. BTS - Euphoria short film
    10. BTS - Fake love
Thats it for now until they have a comeback and the list gets longer TT

Ahhh... its a pretty large discography to sink your teeth into! (I do enjoy a considerable chunk of it). BTS kinda enjoys multi part MV story lines. For Blood, Sweat and Tears its arch is supported by a sequence of short trailers/clips featuring each one of the members with their solo songs. It fleshes out the story, but doesn't explain anything... just creates more questions. But they are very pretty/artsy clips.

First of all thank you for reacting to BTS ✨ i was in shock when you mentioned that bts isn't from the big three companies that means that you did some researches and i really appreciate that.
Btw yes most of bts' mvs are indeed short movies to their storyline 'bangtan universe'. You can't really understand the meaning behind one bts' mv since their newest mvs are the continuation to their previous mvs. To this day the story of bangtan universe is still not finished, but they're gonna drop new album this august which titled 'Love Yourself: Answer', some fans speculated that this album will finish the story for good so hope you guys are wating too and will be reacting to their new songs soon!
*btw this mv has inspiration from a novel 'Demian' by Hermann Hesse, you might want to read the story first in order to understand the mv better :)

I am happy you enjoyed, it is one of their more poppy songs, but as you mentioned the MV is another level...here are some interesting facts:
It was actually inspired by a book Demian, the book talks about 2 realms in this world - the realm of light (all the nice, good things) and the realm of darkness....the story is basically a downword spiral into the realm of darkness for the main character...falling for temptation, sinning - and after that never being the same. It also is nicely connected to their other Music videos in which every person has their own issues and their own temptations(drug abuse, anger issues, depression...) and once they fall for them/let the darkness take over, it starts slowly destryoying them.

Blood, sweat, and tears largely has to do with the book Demian by Herman Hesse which is about finding the balance between heaven and hell, the middle world that is both dark and light. The part of the music video in which RM speaks English is actually a quote from the prologue of the book.

This storyline for this MV is actually based on the old novel 'Damien' by Hermann Hesse. The concept for the video is actually quite deep and artistic, and is very detailed and intricate. Its so hard to explain it to you in a summarised way, if I could I would, but I really recommend you watch this short video that thoroughly explains & examines the concept, not only will it be helpful for you but its actually just genuinely interesting too!! Here is the link: czcams.com/video/3NuxHwXcAZw/video.html
I think you guys will have a greater appreciation towards it once you understand all the symbolism & meaning behind it from an artistic point of view. :)
