@@P3vlogVid It wasn't just the whole Isreal thing though.
      - It was the "unsafe mood" that was complained about by Norway, the Netherlands and others.
      - It was the harassment by members of the Israel delegation (of which Norway, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands complained to the EBU) (mind you, I see these harassments as a seperate thing to the Israel discussion)
      - It was the disqualification of Joost Klein because of "zero tolerance", while other incidents did not lead to disqualification because of "zero tolerance".
      - It was the banning of flags, including the non binary flag and even the EU flag (which is, when you think of it, very odd).
      - It was the fact that TikTok filmers were *everywhere* - even going as far as following artists into the dressing room (in fact, the whole Joost Klein incident had to do with that as well)
The Isreal thing was laced through that, sure, as many of the incidents also involved the Israeli delegation and the flag banning had to do with the Isreal-Palestine conflict, but it wasn't *just* the Israel thing.

The Netherlands has done so much for Eurovision in the last years. Firs, we pay the most after the big 5 countries. Twan van de Nieuwenhuijzen, the current head of delegation, had a prominent role within the international production teams of the Eurovision Song Contests in Rotterdam (2021), Turin (2022) and Liverpool (2023). As Head of Contest, he worked closely with broadcaster EBU and with all participating delegations in the development of their act. So hes done a lot for EBU. We hosted the contest in 2021 and also financed an alternative tv show in 2020. And than being treated like this by EBU. Its scandalous.

I thibk there are two deeper issues with the EBU at the moment. Firstly their commitment to diversity is only superficial. Their only happy with "diverse" competitors if they fit into Eurovisions mould. But if somebody has different needs like Joost, who's still dealing with a lot of trauma, or Nemo who wanted to wave a flag they hadn't seen before, the EBU can't deal with it. Secondly, this generation of artists is used to being in control of their own work and image. Joost is an extreme example but that guy comes from youtube, doesn't have an agent or a manager and does everything by himself. That clashes with an organisation that wants almost total control over the artists during Eurovision.

Even the LGBTQIA+ group's commitment to diversity is superficial. Or can one dare to think anything different than the groupthink that's displayed over and over again? It's good they at least tried to ban the flag from such disgusting ideology... The guy from Switserland was there to represent his nation, not his sexuality, so he should have been waving the Swiss flag and nothing else. Switserland is the nation giving him the oportunity to go, as he is, thus should be celebrated as a country where the guy can be who he is. Same for all other dipshits waving with other flags then the ones from their nation.

The worst thing isn't even that Israel was admitted or that Joost was disqualified, imho. Those are single events; huge mistakes, enormous blunders, sure, but an apology and explanation could go very far to sooth that. Even worse however is the fact that EBU wants to do everything behind closed doors. Artists make statements during rehearsals or consider leaving, then they meet with EBU, and suddenly no longer a word (well, that might still change...). We still haven't heard from the camera woman or from Joost, or saw a recording of what allegedly took place. Then that partizan sponsor, big no no. That sounds like an oppressive culture, which I associate with Russia, or propaganda that I have recently come to associate with Israel. And we don't like that. Especially we outspoken Dutch don't like that at all. It is okay to have different opinions, views, or priorities; but it is not okay to be so opaque about what is going on. It stinks.

The reporter/pers/the girl that accused Joost is not only corrupt because on backstage she bullied not only the Netherlands but also Italy, Irland and Spain.
and agreements have also been made/Joost has clearly indicated that he does not want to be filmed between the qualifications. Only after the final.
and she still did not have the right to film him and take photos, even though Joost clearly told her so. She kept doing it.

Also said that decision to disqualify Joost was extreme and uncalled for), Ireland (Israel commentator told people to harass Bambie online for their being non-binary and their personal beliefs, and the EBU basically did nothing), Spain (Spanish pro-palestine journalists were repeatedly harassed and bullied by Israeli journalists / people), Portugal (due to Palestine patterns on her nails, the EBU purposefully didn't upload her grand final performance during the voting, unlike all other songs. It was the semi-final performance for a while after that too, instead of her final performance). The EBU's response was to say, "We regret some delegations didn't respect the spirit of the rules". The majority of these broadcasters have or are considering submitting a formal complaint, and with many of the upset people also those who decide if the country goes to Eurovision next year, I wouldn't be surprised if we see boycotts.
